The whole point of using words like “gay” or “feminine” as an insult is based on the premise that the target of those insults is insecure about their masculinity/extremely homophobic, so calling them gay and feminine (two things that they hate) is meant to arouse maximum anger and shame in them, that would not be seen in a normal person. If they were having a disagreement with gay people or women, or just a normal everyday disagreement, then I doubt feminine and gay would be used as insults. Then there’s the idea that people don’t actually mean what they say and are just trolling to get under people’s skin.
