Both of those numbers were 16 digits and if the card number doesn't match the name on the card or the address, the card is useless if he did use his 16 digit card number.
Oh, it almost sounds like Michael is not completely honest towards the technical support engineer.
But now the computer is connected to their secure server right? :D
I'm not completely sure if that is really true, because the foreign connections showed up and were establish even after connecting to the very secure server.

I just realized, the fake westernized names scammers use are very much alike to stripper names. Short, sweet and catchy. :D Dexter Gray and the Chippendales. Sounds like a show no lady would want to miss.

So are the employees of Chinese firms that deal with Westerners. Did design work, and went China to meet said employees for about 15 years. They all adopt "cutesy" Westernized names that are often very inappropriate. My favorite was a young Chinese office worker in Guangzhou that went by the name Sugar Woo.
I would like to see you try and barter down the price they charge. Give them a line about how you don't have enough funds and maybe ask if they have any discounted prices? See how low you can get them to go maybe? Would be an interesting change to see how much money they are willing to settle for?

They typically say that the "network" is infected, so that even if the user gets a new machine, it will get infected like the current one because it will be on the same "network".
+Mshojat tell them I will get a new house with a new network lol.
pretend you, yourself are calling them because you found that their network is infected, so basically a "scammer" vs a real scammer lmao
someone mentioned that you should tell them that you are rich and you will be buying a brand new computer and see if they put syskey on there or just give up. or tell that that you'll be buying all new devices because the "network" is hacked.
All of these scammers appear to be using exacly the same script
I own a Dell computer with full software, hardware, and accident insurance...they tend to do a lot of the same things and they do work from a script. They also have a habit of ignoring or not looking at my insurance coverage and try to sell me services...always have to point out the fact that my computer is insured.

And here I was hoping he would foolishly try a syskey at the end. Again, great work. I love your style of leading them on til the very end, and how you don't mumble when you speak and you make yourself sound very convincing to the scammer.
These scammers seem to love going to wikipedia for Koobface and the zeus virus. How interesting would it be if someone were to edit the wikipedia page just before the scammer shows you, with text at the top like "NOTE: Tech support scammers make reference to Koobface when conducting their scams" or something similar ... a speechless reaction like the one you got here would be priceless to watch/record.
I wish there were a show just like To Catch A Predator, where police would secretly listen in on the call and have the scam company shut down and leaders of that "business" arrested. But the fact that a lot of these scams are in India makes me believe the ;police probably have bigger fish to fry..
Those are really great ideas! I think it would be hilarious if someone edited koobface with the header you mentioned. Just to see how those morons would react, you know? And I agree that Mike(?) Is really good at playing along, and just wasting their time whilst frustrating them.

awesome, love the amount of times he says sorry when he messes something up that someone who would fall for this would have no idea what he did wrong
once someone is connected to your computer with one of these remote control programs, wouldn't there be a way to reverse the connection? maybe by disguising a malware app as Syskey or cmd, that will read the scammers IP and will launch malware on the scammers computer? ... I'll have to think about it ...
That would be illegal though. AFAIK there's nothing illegal about what they are currently doing
It's possible, using the netstat command you can see what ips are connected to your computer ... From there you could either start to ddos the ip or start sending it control packages ... Putting a file one the computer could be possible if you can intercept download packages and replace them with the packages you want on their computer ... Would take some time tho

Referring to you ddos'ing them.
1. Switch syskey to a program that would prompt them to accept remote connection to THEIR computer through that program they use, with prompted window disguised as syskey pass change confirmation. (if that's even possible)
2. Quickly send a virus that would run in the background.
3. Shut down *your* computer and say you think its done. (the tech. support thing)
4. They think you got syskeyed so stealthy messing with their computers, finding information etc. should be possible. I've heard Cain and Abel is good for this.

That is a good question. I see them do it quite a bit, but it's quite strange to me.

Refreshing your dextop will drive up your CPU usage, and high CPU usage is one of the things that they can show you to convince you that your dextop is infected with a wirus.

When I ring them they end up disconnecting the number to stop me from ringing them. I've done that to about 6 numbers to date. I take up so much of their time they really have no other choice. Like you said it's fun to hear them loosing their shit.
To make you feel well they say “you are absolutely right” and other statements. They use sir, ma’am, etc.
It's all about the little things. Like knowing junk is spelled the same way in plural form, as it is in singular form...lol!

I think I could learn from videos like this. Some other people are better at recognizing some scams than I am. Especially, the computer service, (over the phone) scams.
It is simple...if something is wrong with your computer, you call your tech support...they never call you.

If anyone experiences a popup and can't get out, press "crtl" key with "alt" key and "del" key go to task manger (bottom option and click) when task manager opens look for the browser you are using i.e or chrome right click and end task, and that's it fixed. Don't close something you are not sure about.

Very well played, I salute you :) I think Dexter should apply for a job with a real organisation, he's one of the most professional call centre people I've heard including the legit one at my bank, it's a real pity he's wasting that talent on sh*t like this.
I got a scam call three times today from a guy who has my luggage in California. He wants to send his driver to bring to me. I don't own luggage and I'm in Florida.
Scammer here looks like working for international some call centre which used to be a very highly paid sector few years ago but now most of the people left this sector.So it is very normal to find Indian scammers.

Another sign of a clueless scammer: sales tax are set by the state, county, and city (if the latter two applies). The Federal government does not set sales tax for the states.
