Unlike other shows, we see Batman’s evolution of contingency plans and similar. Like with his utility belt: Catwoman steals it - installs biometrics; joker steals it - installs a shock pulse. And with his other things too: J’onn reads his mind - makes a helmet that can’t be mind read through. Spellbinder warps his mind - makes a scanning thing to restart his mind if functions become abnormal. Rather than having it be like he just has these things prior to the start of the show like in BtAS we actually see him adapt constantly more like MCU Iron Man. This is one of the reasons he is my favorite. Though for that matter it isn’t hard to love Batman.
Same i love it bc it was my Batman and i grew up watching it every Saturday morning on kids wb and i can’t wait to revisit it when i show my niece and nephew ❤
I'm happy to see The Batman getting some attention and respect. It sometimes feels so forgotten between BTAS, JL/JLU and the 'modern' stuff. But it was such a cool story. Getting to see Batman really grow and mature into his mantle, and the dangers of Gotham growing to try and keep up with him.
The Batman 2004 is as underrated as X-Men: Evolution was. Both series are top notch and do things that are new and unexpected, but nobody ever talks about them because they're only remembered as the "it's not the same as the 90's series" were type of shows.
And ironic enough both shows were better than their 90's predecessors. Including 2000's TMNT and He-Man over their older ones. But we just have to wait for gen x to dye out so that bs opinion can go with them.
@@HeihachiMishima48 Batman TAS before they changed the art style is still valid imo as the top Batman show, when they made it match the Superman show I feel it wasn't as good
@@terryqokov6999 BTAS and TNBTAS are whole two different shows, its not season 3 as some proclaim. BTAS really isnt the top show anymore, its the second best and I grew up with it in the 90's! But I dont let nostalgia cloud my judgement anymore. Concerning the animation of BTAS, its probably one of the reasons why Godfather is my favorite movie of all time, as both have the same jazzy 40's art-deco style that I grew up loving thanks to BTAS. But as overall judgement goes, the 00's Batman show is simply better. When I put the 00's Batman show on, I have to watch it from beginning to end. And the animation and designs are fast paced, clearer, cosier and vibrant(this is the only time where TNBTAS shines over BTAS). And the episodes are continuous which I do so appreciate because it doesn't feel like you're wasting time watching it unlike BTAS where I have to watch my favorite episodes and stop after that as I feel "what's the purpose?". So the 00's Batman also has more replay value.
13:57 I don’t know what happened, but one of my favorite aspects of Batman growing up was that he had a bunch of different suits for the occasion. I want this back, I haven’t seen it enough lately for Batman

I really loved The Batman. While it didn't have the fame that Batman The Animated Series had, some characters and plotlines I thought were handled significantly better than in BTAS. Characters like Catwoman, Hugo Strange, Batgirl, Killer Croc and surprisingly Firefly I thought were handled in a vastly superior way than in the DCAU. Also the Riddler voiced by Robert Englund was a standout. It also had one of the most unique depictions of Clayface ever.
17:05 I love Catmwoman as a character but not usually most of her suits… except for this one. I designed my own Catwoman suit and based it off this one,
12:51 I know it’s from season 2 but at the finale when Strange says “the line between genius and insanity is often blurred” is well delivered and their whole interaction is so well done
Excellent video! This got me to subscribe today. I really hope y’all decide to do the other seasons too. This is a very underrated series. It’s not BTAS but it never tried to be. One advantage it holds over BTAS is it’s more serialized instead of episodic. Thanks for the video!
This was my first introduction to Batman as a kid and what got me into Batman growing up, even before I ever watched Batman The Animated Series, Batman: Brave and the Bold, or read the comics or played video games like Arkham series or Telltale games in my teen years. This show honestly is my favourite Batman show, and it's hard to believe the show is already 20 years old. I absolutely LOVE the animation, art style and redesigns of the characters, especially Joker (one of my favourite takes on Joker), Batman, Batgirl, Robin, Mr Freeze, Firefly, Catwoman, Riddler, Killer Croc, Clayface, Man-Bat, etc... all of them had such cool, sleek and creative designs that truly made this show stand out as its own thing and that's one of the many reasons I love it so much. BTW, most of the villains, even villains like Joker, Penguin and Riddler, actually put up pretty good fights against Batman, and that's refreshing to see since those villains don't put up much of a physical threat to Batman in other media. I really love this show's take on Batman/Bruce Wayne as a more laid-back and mentally stable person who hasn't let the darkness completely overtake him. It's such a refreshing change from the status quo, as I also love Bruce and Alfred's relationship dynamic and how much Bruce grows as a character, as he helps Yin by offering his aid whenever she needs him as their dynamic is a very underrated relationship as we see her initially want to take Batman down, but now after Ethan became Clayface, she's willing to put her trust in Batman and by extension gain a new partner to mourn the one she couldn't save as he became a monster
@@isaiahyinko7182 I believe I was 2 years old when the show first technically aired on TV, but I didn't start watching the show until I became 8 or 9 years old
Don't get me wrong, I get the poignency of Mr. Freeze's tragedy, but I absolutely rock with him being a force of nature in 2004 because he literally embodies an element of nature. This is basically What If Mr Freeze LOST Nora and went off the deep end focusing only his vanity and greed. Or the Silver Age Mr Freeze being modernized into an alternate but viable interpretation instead. I REALLY liked how he froze himself for a millennia just to escape Batman, and it didn't work! He still was face to face with him after all the centuries. Something about the themes of isolation vs community here because The Batman entrusted all his resources to future generations only to be RESPECTED and utilized as he foresaw. They feared and thought the worse of Batman back in the day, but he proved his trustworthiness to the point future generations treat him with reverence, but still with it's own level of controversy.
1:38 well I recently just watched this show in its entirety in a span of 5 days a few months ago. My favourite thing about this show was the seasonal arcs. Seasons 1 and 2 are very much the tale of a young Batman who slowly forms a relationship with the police force while also meeting a lot of his iconic rogue’s gallery members. Seasons 3 and 4 are Batman opening up to people and learning to trust others with Batgirl and Robin. Then season 5 we see Batman at his peak with the Justice League. I still haven’t seen BTAS yet but I’m excited to see how the two compare considering I’ve seen this one first
Love how you guys always let us decide what we want to see but to be honest I'm down for anything you guys talk about now of course there some mediums that I think are less interesting but it's your channel you guys are great love hearing your opinions especially because they usually line up with mine.
I am so glad you guys are talking about this show. It is my absolute favorite Batman show. Cannot wait for you guys to talk about the next season, but you do have to bring up the theme song in the first two seasons which is incredible.
I loved this series very underrated series right there with brave and the bold it had my favorite designs for Joker, Killer Croc, Man bat, Mr. Freeze and Riddler.

FINALLY someone that likes this version of Bane! He's got such a cool duality to him with both designs. Easily could be made into a stronger foil to Batman, but instead they started using him as a brute and unintelligent muscle which was such a shame after a strong introduction that demanded your attention and anxiety. Bruce was almost crushed to death within that awesome robot like a tin can. You could feel the pressure to beat him, very do or die moment.
This was my Batman show growing up and I love many of this shows versions of characters. This has my favorite animated joker, my favorite cat woman design, and a lot of the show’s original villains were fantastic like Rumor.
Ok, great video! And yes I played that Batman Bank game XD But we need a Young Justice one, especially after you guys teased it. That S1 was perfection.
This show is my absolute favourite Batman cartoon ever created, I would binge the first season on loop at my cottage as a kid. And even the day I watched Batman versus Dracula every year on Halloween. And this is the Batman I really want for the DCU someone that's not afraid to have fun with the character. The character is so cool in this cartoon is amazing amazing. But I especially love how much you focussed on the relationship between Bruce and Bennett, because that is the relationship shows need to do for Batman and Two-Face, and just spite Ethan Bennett not being two-faced and said he's clay face he is the best depiction of two-faced that has been created at least in my opinion. The struggle of character is at the forefront, it really made you feel the weight of the entire series and the mental struggle of Ethan Bennett.
My favorite villians in this series were manbat because he was almost like watching what a Bruce Banner gone insane would look like, Catwoman was phenomenal her design and the way she was written as more calculating was good writing I just wish they used her more, clayface origins in this show was a complete plot twist was also heartbreaking, and love how the Penguin is based offof Danny Devito from the Batman returns movie.
I honestly really love this show it gets so much flack but like it’s so clean with the animation, the intro is a certified banger, the designs (even tho it’s to sell toys) look so good, etc. I do think we should’ve gotten some kind of send off for Yin or some update on her at the end of the series, but other than that it tried to do some more original stuff and it worked a lot more than you would expect. All in all I rank this as my third favorite Batmanverse. Second is Batman Brave and Bold.
THIS IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE BATMAN... Firefly, Copperhead, even the Harlequin... I loved this Batman I grew up with it, and the animated series, love this one more watched this during the PEAK ANIMATED ERA OF the 00's
Easily my second favorite Batman animated series, following Batman TAS. I've always seen it that way. You've absolutely got to talk about other seasons too.
You fellas actually got my washed a** 😅. I only saw a few of these but it was great when I caught it. I only remember Joker actually throwing hands for a change. 6:21
As an 80s baby i grew up w/ Btas but I love The Batman 04 just as much as its predecessor. Apples & Oranges but the two but who doesn’t love both fruits.
I really appreciate this show it was like my first exposure to Batman as a kid and it’s cool to hear you guys talk about it cause it’s been a while since I’ve seen it
fun fact, this show was the first time the current Batman voice actor for the Spanish dub in Latin America played Batman, and he's been Batman ever since in all animated projects. So this show has a special place for me in that regard, besides it's just awesome
So true! As a 2000's kid, I grew up with this show and not TAS. Don't get me wrong, Tas is incredible, but I didn't watch it until later in life and I couldn't help but think "Why is everyone, mainly Batman, SO slow?". Dude has mastered (I don't know the exact number, but I wanna remember this) like 127 different forms of martial arts. MASTERED. Why does he fight like a street fighter? Also the sound effects are amazing and Joker really messed me up as a kid (as he should. Mark Hamill and Troy Baker are tied for best Joker voice in my opinion, but Kevin Michael Richardson does an amazing job with this Joker)
I love this show, I used to watch it all the time when it was on Cartoon Network as a kid. I had loads of the toys too I love the Batmobile personally and wished they had never changed it in the later seasons
This show was honestly one of my favorites, I liked that it portrayed Bruce Wayne as a genuine person and an outgoing persona rather than just a mask to keep people away from Batman being Bruce Wayne. I loved that everyone knew how to throw hands because honestly, this is what I expect from conflicts, it makes the stories interesting rather than Batman just showing up and whooping everyone with haymakers and calling it a day
I’m currently doing a rewatch of this whole series on Max and it’s such a nice dose of nostalgia… and that opening theme for the first two seasons, just iconic!
The Batman (2004) was awesome! I feel more people are giving it the respect it deserves but Batman: The Brave and the Bold is most slept on show. Y'all should do a video about that too
For years the 2-part finale of S1 was the only thing I saw of this show until I was able to catch a couple reruns that aired I think a decade ago and then I made it my mission to find the rest.
If Batman had a Spectacuar Spider-Man THIS would be it Both have modernized takes on the og comics that makes sense(except Kraven just ew) Both came after the 90's animated series Both have unique artstyles(this looks better than Caped Crusader)
I’v always loved The Batman! I’m glad people have started to appreciate it in the past year or so! I honestly think people hadn’t seen it until it got to Netflix, so they were just repeating what they had heard.
@ was still a little too young for it in ‘04. First watched it in 2008 during season 5 and then watched rerun episodes on CN. And justice league unlimited
I have a very interesting take when it comes to The Batman (2004) so I believe this is the Batman show that has aged the well and as time has passed has become the most accurate portrayal of Batman in a show compared to the current Batman in the comics. I feel as this show gets better over time because of the comic counterpart becoming more like the Batman from The Batman (2004) and to me that has made it better throughout the years. I really love this show and to me it’s the 4 best dc animated show well I flip flop it every now and then between 4th and 5th it depends on the day yk. Elite Batman show 8.7/10
8:01 This is the best Alfred ever. Every time I picture Alfred, I see and hear him.
Unlike other shows, we see Batman’s evolution of contingency plans and similar. Like with his utility belt: Catwoman steals it - installs biometrics; joker steals it - installs a shock pulse. Because The Batman learns from his mistakes

I loved this iteration of Batman. The show is on Netflix now. Time to binge.
21:15 would actually love to see a yj review tho
Lads you have to give us more on The Batman!!!
I saw this show when I was 3 years old and I can say without a shadow of a doubt is my top 3 Batman cartoon shows
I remember this being my batman show. My dad and i would sit and watch it together on weekends
@@yaboicheshire868 I was 5 years old when the show aired on tv in 2004. How about you?
@isaiahyinko7182 depending on the month, 2 or 3, I was born in December, 2002
If Batman had a Spectacuar Spider-Man THIS would be it
Both have modernized takes on the og comics that makes sense(except Kraven just ew)
Both came after the 90's animated series
Both have unique artstyles(this looks better than Caped Crusader)
Love this show!!! I swear it doesn’t get talked about enough
I love the Batman! I was really into the Ultimate Marvel comics at the time and this really scratched that itch for me
This video came out at the right time cause i just finished season one
I’v always loved The Batman! I’m glad people have started to appreciate it in the past year or so! I honestly think people hadn’t seen it until it got to Netflix, so they were just repeating what they had heard.
I loved this show sooo much as a kid
I grew up with 2004 The Batman. It will forever be my favorite!! Also, that Dracula movie was PEAK.
This is the Batman I grew up with! It got me into perusing animation, and would love to see you talk about the rest of the show too ^^
@@c0r How old were you when the show aired on tv in 2004?
@ was still a little too young for it in ‘04. First watched it in 2008 during season 5 and then watched rerun episodes on CN. And justice league unlimited
I love it! I got it on Blu-ray last year for christmas! It's such a good show
Yeah I'm gonna need the retrospective on the other seasons
Comic Lads I love this “The Batman” my favorite. Could you do all the seasons 1-5 & Batman vs Dracula
I can't believe this show came out 20 years ago, I feel old lol
I love robin in this so much and this show made me love black mask! I love the obscure villains in it too!
perfect timing was literally just rewatching season 1
I have a very interesting take when it comes to The Batman (2004) so I believe this is the Batman show that has aged the well and as time has passed has become the most accurate portrayal of Batman in a show compared to the current Batman in the comics. I feel as this show gets better over time because of the comic counterpart becoming more like the Batman from The Batman (2004) and to me that has made it better throughout the years. I really love this show and to me it’s the 4 best dc animated show well I flip flop it every now and then between 4th and 5th it depends on the day yk. Elite Batman show 8.7/10
Peak mr freeze and fire fly designs, and the ice batsuit 😮💨
5 hour video 1 hour for each season.
