That's what I was thinking too. He could have easily left it and just shilled the cable management system, but he actually put a lot of effort into troubleshooting and fixing the computer.
For this very reason I really hated when Sammy implied that Linus was acting annoyed for the camera... social media is NOT equal to real life bro
@@AndreaCipria i mean Linus hams up for the AMD Tech Upgrades and is jokingly annoyed about the stuff the staff "steals", etc. But in this case it was actually dangerous and Sammy didnt even think it was a big deal so he couldnt read Linus' worry/annoyedness as genuine lmao but he was legit annoyed.

@@schenkov I'd say it's more of an "instinct"? It's like seeing lighting cigarette in a gas station? I don't even need to think about how or why. (I learned why charged particles travels in a curved path in magnetic field, learned that in high school, and I did pretty OK in high school)
Sammi's definitely "the friend who knows computers" when you take it to Geek Squad because it's not working, and the employee asks who built the computer.
The thing that shocks me as that I was never this bad and don't know anyone this bad. I don't know anyone who has rudimentary computer knowledge and is this overconfident.

I have seen even worse. Office PC s. They not only have missing screws and parts floating around, they are also filled with dust and have cement thermal paste. Truly horrendous.

This was great! when they mentioned their fathers got them into tec, I was reminded my dad got me into tec. he used to work for a PC recycling place, he brought home old hardware that we had an 8 person LAN in our home at one point! best time of my life!

Oddly enough, seeing linus fix the building errors on the pc was way more satisfying than any of the other organizing in the video. The fact he said he wasnt gonna do it and then thuroughly fixed every error was awesome. Ive repaired my friends and families gaming PCs on several occasions, and it never fails that Ill end up finding several cruscial building errors along the way that I wasnt even solocted to fix. Super relatable. I would love to see linus just critque and repair poorly built staff PCs.

I like the concept of this series, but was pretty disappointed that most of the PC setup was managed using a fancy desk instead of showing creative ways of using the cable management system on a regular desk.

@@vpool Fair enough, but that just means it feels like a poor fit for a sponsor. AMD/Intel don't feel like they're stealing the limelight during the ultimate tech upgrades.
I mean, I don't feel like that much was focused on the desk. Its more focused on the LTT magnetic cable hiders which benefit from the desk being magnetic. But they also managed 2 other rooms that didn't have the desk at all.

I played Kotor when it first came out and many years later I saw it on sale on steam. I had completely forgotten the story so I decided to replay it. Let's just say the plot twist was twice as effective...
That "it doesn't work, I promise you" and "I know this didn't come with that so there's nothing I can do, who cares" attitude is so frustrating to watch, especially as someone who has had it. It is learned helplessness and infinitely unproductive.

@BryanLu0 no, it was specifically a response to the other guy above negging on auto mechanics. I thought it was vapid and pointless. Mechanics have to explain everything all the damn time, otherwise people just say "well, the car isn't engulfed in flame at the moment, I'll be on my way". An automobile is a complex machine, as is a pc, and when you rely on a machine for your daily life, you should treat it with respect and care. You do that by listening to a professional.

@BryanLu0 Well, I mean, that's kinda my point, linus is in there, with, objectively, years of experience and expertise in the field he's chosen, and is critiquing the arrangement of things. The same way that a professional mechanic would say, "yes, I know your boyfriend told you he 'knows about cars', but here's what he did wrong".
Now as for the reason I think he's negging mechanics is because most people have a negative view of them. Again, you rely on it to get to work, so when it breaks down, you are inconvenienced, and you spend thousands of dollars just to get back to normal. It's not like you get to walk out with a new TV. I get it. That said, of your kidney is failing and a doctor fixes you up, just so you can get back to normal, it's potential life ending debt and you thank him. While people think mechanics are scam artists. Yes, some are. So are some doctors, I mean, look at Larry nassar.
I can tell by the tone of the comment that the poster meant to denigrate the attitude of car mechanics who come in overconfident. That also shows that he thinks ill of, or can't tell the difference between, a talented practiced individual, or somebody who watches too many scotty Kilmer videos.
Either way, he has a poor to middling opinion of the profession at best, and that is a crummy way to treat people who will, statistically, die at a younger age, of horrible diseases from chemical exposure and degenerative tissue diseases and cancer and everything else, just because you want your brakes done in a hurry on a Saturday at 4pm when everybody is trying to go be with their family.
Treat people with respect. You wouldn't talk shit to the waiter, he could spit in your food and you would never know. A competent mechanic could ensure you die in a firey crash, and you would never know. It's the social contract. Don't be shitty.

Super cool new series. Came away with some tips in how to clean up my setup. Can't wait for more. The Dan plugin near the beginning of the video seemed a bit clunky. I was expecting a transition to Dan and it didn't happen.
I have a feeling they were supposed to have multiple people in each episode and then realized that it would be too long and decided to only have one. When Linus said he had to go see other patients I was sure we were going to cut away to a different setup for a bit.
I re-build my setup and one of the things that I have not regreded and will not regret is the SL MP XL Desk as it is just so nice with the full magnetic top and the cable hider. IMO the best desk on the market period

Then there's my setup, three desks, like zero space. and no cable management of any kind. Just glad I use Alienware stuff for gaming.
