It's legit my favorite Final Fantasy. It may sound crazy but I really want a Remake. It's so good, and we need to see why Kefka is the BEST antagonist in the FF series.

yeah, the dude is plain crazy and is unfortunately overshadowed by sephiroth. Kefka really is the best villain

Kefka would make sephiroth into materia lol

Yeah. Not as complex as Sepiroth, or Kuja. But the guy is just plain BAD! Just evil, power-mad, and willing to do anything to get his way. Doesn't care in the slightest how many people he hurts. I seem to remember that some time ago one of the big gaming periodicals did a reader poll for Best VG Villain. There were several options, and also a write-in option. Two villains made the top 10 as write-ins. Kefka got the #1 spot as a write-in. Unreal.

I want to see a remake badly, too... But I don't think they'd handle it right. I suspect they'd remove some of the more comedic parts of the game, such as Ultros, censor Edgar's skirt chasing even more than they did in the original, and remove the Woolsyisms ("Son of a Submariner!"). Much of Sabin's shenanigans would probably not make it over to the new game, and Sabin's entire thing is just being inexplicably awesome.

i recently beat ff6 and wat a blast i had! Kefkta a few times on a 2nd graphics game got me to say WTF...HOLY SHIT!
the story really gets you to feel for the characters despite being an old 2nd game.

My favorite game of all time. My top 3 were close to yours, Locke Celes and Shadow. Shadow had that Wolverine dark past mystery to him and I’m glad they never said one way or another what his history was because the mystery and what ifs make the character

I gave up when they shut down the google play version I was playing. Finally got past the end gane grind(The True Final Dungeon for me on RPGs), and finally got Kefka.
Edit: If they ever give a true remake(tired of the pixel remakes), it would be great if they helped explain what happened to Banon in Act II. He just up and disappeared after the big event.

If you love Final Fantasy, you should check out the Breath of Fire series as well. This series was Capcom's entry into the RPG genre. The first two games are on the SNES and were produced by Tokuro Fujiwara who was also behind Mega Man 2, Ghosts and Goblins and Resident Evil. The 3rd and 4th games are on the PS1, the 5th on the PS2. There was a mobile game, but that was shut down roughly 1 year after release.

@@maxweaponage I second this recommendation. The first 3 games in that set are fantastic snapshots of RPGs at the time. BoF1 is for the SNES, and is probably one of the primordial RPGs, with a lot of things that were standard, done in unique or interesting ways, and some things that would become standard came from this one in particular. On top of having some nice systems, and one of the few times where the final boss is also the hardest in the game, without being a block if you just want to finish it thanks to the way the game is designed.
BoF2 is an SNES game with not so subtle nods to slavery, several on screen deaths, many unpleasant, and was one of the early ones to pit you against an organized religion that was themed off Christianity in a way most wouldn't do for a while yet. It also is paced very interestingly, with almost a third of the game being a side quest of sorts, but one that curtails directly into the main quest and gets you most of your party.
And BoF3 had not only cool characters, fully fleshed out, but the Dragon Gene system, which is the sort of thing I don't think I've seen much.
BoF4 is...well it's to Buddism what most JRPGs of its era were to Christianity, even if it does have some obvious gaps in it if you play the US/Pal version. For some reason, where BoF2 escaped being censored, BoF4 was censored heavily on the PSX, which was rare. this, amongst other things, has one characters entire backstory basically taken out, as he gave it in a bathhouse scene. Still, it's a fun story you won't see anywhere else, and what they left in is sometimes quite haunting.
BoF5 is...unique as gameplay goes. A tactical, Turn Based, Survival Horror, RPG with a time limit. The story is kind of bonkers, and obviously incomplete(Rumor is that it's only the first half of a two part game, but the second got canned, and so they did what they could to make this one the only one, but it's not perfect). Still, like the others, it's a game type you won't see anywhere else.

@@maxweaponage As much as I love the HD-2D style, I think there is too much overlap with the Pixel Remaster. It's not enough of a leap at this point, and as you point out in the video, there have been quite a few 2D versions of the game already (including 2 remasters). So a remake at this point has to make a bigger leap to have an impact -- it has to go full 3D! I've played through FF6 so many times that I'm ready for a fresh take, and I want to see the world of FF6 in a way I haven't seen before. And as we've seen in Dissidia and Opera Omnia, Amano's art style works beautifully in 3D.

I get what you mean, my worry is that the combat would get watered down to some sort of lazy action RPG system with those sorts of graphics because turn based isn't stylish enough for modern aesthetics

    • @Enharmony1625
      @Enharmony1625 10 месяцев назад +1

@@maxweaponage I honestly could go either way. I love me some turn-based combat, but I love action RPG as well. I think the combat in 7R is great! But 3D doesn't have to mean action RPG.. just look at Dragon Quest XI. I'm also curious to see what this potential FF9 remake will look like if it turns out to be true. They might stick with turn-based combat for that, and if so, it could serve as a reference or blueprint for how they could do a FF6 remake.

Awesome. I played the PS1 version of this game growing up, and never finished it due to the load time issues you discussed.

I played this for the first time to completion this spring like it but it has soo many problems. It has some great music and some fantastic scenes but it's not even close to being as good as FF7-FF10. It's random in this game, all the time when you unlock a new part of the map through story you find like 3 almost identical town with no purpose at all and all with different gear. In FF7, finding a town is so cool and finding new gear or Materia is the greatest feeling but here you are bombarded with small upgrades in equipment, new characters all the time, bad world map design and boring towns. Yeah I like a lot of other things like the opera scene was magical in the pixel remaster and the, sky world... But there are better snes games out there, like A Link to the Past and Donkey Kong Country 2.
