  • In this episode of TFBTV, @JamesReeves visits Bergara to see their new B14² Crest Rifle at IWA 2023. Per Bergara's webpage about the Crest:
"The new B14² CREST is a high performance ultralight rifle designed for long distance hunting, and especially mountain hunting. Built on a lightweight and solid Monte Carlo carbon fiber stock, which is manufactured with the most innovative technology. It sets a new standard in carbon stocks, being the best choice for carbon rifles. We combined this new stock together with the Bergara B-14 action and our well-known barrels, resulting in a unique model that barely exceeds 3kg. It is protected with Cerakote™ Sniper Grey to cope with unpredictable mountain weather conditions. All B-14 rifles are capable of producing sub-1.0 MOA groups or less at 100 yards using factory match grade ammunition."

Took forest fire smoke build-up out of a ultra-light rifle bore yesterday.
First soaking all parts in hot sudsy water. Until softened. Love my Bore-
Snake rifle cleaner. Several hand pulls with a spot of gun oil and it is done.
My local range is closed to extract tons of lead so I'll wait for passing train
noise to hide target practice noise. Done beside green sea water killing dry
driftwood from Asia. Sub-sonic slugs ( bullets ; not a Fox News Host)

They’re just making rifles for the other 97% of people to buy. It really doesn’t make sense to put irons on a lightweight precision rifle meant for medium to long range hunting. These rifles typically have a lightweight or sporter profile barrel that doesn’t lend itself as well to dovetailing sights in. Not to mention that many rear iron sights preclude you from mounting your scope as low it potentially can.
If you want irons then grab a Ruger, Savage, Mossberg, or a CZ. The simple fact is that you don’t need a high end rifle to make a 100-200 yard shot with iron sights, any budget gun will do, which is why you see some iron sight options on those guns. If you’re going to be the guy who says, “but I can make a 400 yard shot with irons on deer!”, then awesome, but me and other 97% of hunters aren’t going to take that shot. The other market you’ll see irons is going to be close range large game safari type rifles.

Why is it so offensive when i hear him say “American customers have the money”? > he said it like he is here to rip Americans off. NOTHING about that statement is a selling point, But its a little truth about what the Company Really thinks! THIS IS WHY WE SHOULD BUY AMERICAN MADE PRODUCTS first!
