      Can't wait for them to put out a barreled action in 7PRC for the premiere line. Would throw it into a XRS chassis that is proven to take the recoil.
      Went with the HMR Premiere in 300PRC and found the stock needed a lot of modification to work with the recoil of that chambering - it may work fine for a lesser recoil cartridge but not so much with the magnums. Mine was binding up on the rear action screw due to a crooked drilled back pillar and there was slop in the recoil lug (pocket was oversized) that you could see marring the side of it. Shoots great (1 inch groups at 300 yards) now after the pillars were redrilled, whole action was bedded, and front of the stock was reinforced with carbon fiber.
      In hindsight I would get the Barreled action and an MDT Chassis. It will end up being lighter and more adjustable in the end without needing to do all of the custom work.
      Bergara is known for their barrels.. Stick with the barrel and go with a someone that is known for their chassis. That's my experience with the platform.

    Not a fan of the noisy Accurate Mag magazines in any platform I run. Unfortunately its not interchangeable with a standard AICS pattern magazine so I'm stuck with it. Had to shim the sides of it with electric tape to keep it from rattling around when being carried on a hunt since modifying magazines is Illegal in Canada.

    Thank you for including how the safety works in relation to the action and trigger. I prefer a bolt that locks while on safety so that it doesn’t come open in the brush or crawling on a stalk, or just packed on my side. The bolt lift’s accidentally fairly regularly with my Ruger American, though I like the rifle otherwise. Three position safeties are best, but i tolerate the 2 position with locking bolt on the Tikka because I like the rifle so much otherwise.

    The new crest carbon fixed what I griped about on the crest. It loses a lb with the carbon barrel, a m5 bottom metal so you can either have the DBM or hinged floor plate - something I appreciate for a true hunting rig. My only hold up with Bergara recently is the QC between models. They seem to either shoot lasers or not group at all. Hoping they fix that moving forwert

    Great video and review! One thing you could add to your rifle reviews is degrees of bolt lift. I’m a fan of rifles like X-bolts, Americans, and Tikkas that have 60-75 degrees of lift, whereas rifles like vanguards and 700s have 90 degree lifts. I think the Bergaras are 90? 90s are usually easier to lift, but your hands end up into the scope, and the lower lifts are opposite.

    • @ReviewThisThing
      @ReviewThisThing  8 месяцев назад

      I was looking at the wilderness but a lot of people were complaining about the weight. The crest is supposed to be almost 3lbs lighter but with a 2 inch shorter barrel. I’m not sure which I’m going to get in 7mm prc. I like a 24” for long range target shooting, but I have seen videos of the crest banging steel at 1200 yards. So that 22” inch barrel may be fine

    • @ReviewThisThing
      @ReviewThisThing  8 месяцев назад

      @@stevenwalker9013 the HMR is definitely close to 3 lbs heavier than the Crest. I haven't shot a 7PRC Crest, but the 6.5 PRC is pretty ridiculous! Let us know what you decide on and what you think.

    my crest in 6.5 creedmoor would not group better than 2 inches, match load did 3 inches, removed action from stock and screws were not evenly or accurately torqued, removed very rough paint build up at action contact points. properly and evenly retorqued action screws and now getting 0.5 tp 0.8 inch groups with 4 different factory loads. my b14 hmr shoots just as good.

    My 308 crest had a hard time shooting sub moa at first.
    I was kinda disappointed until after about 100 rounds the groups tightened down more and more.
    Now it shoots half inch groups with nosler e tip and about 3/4 moa with any load i ever shot.
    It seems to like 150grain bullets.
    Cheap norma tactical 147 gets me 3/4 inch groups on a bad day and half inch on a good day.
