    word of advice if you're gonna copy this: make sure to do slope boosts accurately before you do them fast :) hold back, jump, optionally release back first, hold forward
    also apparently you're meant to jump over the spike at 1:11 and its hitbox is harder unlike the others to reflect this, didn't know sorry
    -yes i will be clearing the abyss i'm just lazy and hate unbalanced gameplay- i did it go look

To me it took 5k (could have been half of that but was nervous and failed at the end multiple times) when the whole map took me 39k, layer 3 alone took me 10k because of the heart, so i didn’t find 6-2 specially annoying.

    this level goes hard as fuck, and i'm nowhere near skilled enough to beat it. seeing so many people dogpile on platformer levels just because they're difficult or they use advanced tech is really frustrating. "this gp isn't fun" bro you have beaten 8 demons, why are you even here

    • @ekisacik
      @ekisacik  8 месяцев назад +17

      its a shame because if you take a look around in the editor at all the little tweaks to the slopes and killboxes and how the gameplay is structured and everything, with enough experience you understand it's an insanely polished and balanced level, way more than any current extreme. people just aren't ready for it yet. it helps that it's unique (i don't hate mini robot i just wish it weren't literally 80% of the current hardlist)

      @@ekisacik im sure that, over time, levels like this will become more normal and respected. the mentality people have towards it is partially because the gamemode itself is so new, and the fact that there's a ton of new players because of the update. i think this level will be one that people look back on fondly in a few years. props to galvatron for being so ahead of everyone else

      the worst part is that these players bring down the reputation of these levels while simultaneously elevating levels with tons of objectively awful elements just because they are popular, this has always happened but it's especially bad with platformer demons, it's actuallt uncanny

      I must disagree, I would say I'm fairly decent at the game having beaten every platformer except for this and the abyss, I've done speedtek and stuff in a decent amount of time and it's not really hard, however that doesn't mean i like it, I don't like this slope mechanic, it's just a matter of opinion, not skill level. I also don't understand the dislike towards levels with mainly robot usage, I enjoy them very much, probably not going to get sick of them any time soon

    I definitely agree that there's a really annoying trend of platformer demons getting INSANE hate for absolutely no good reason. There's a weird sense of entitlement in the playerbase regarding even the most basic conventional forms of difficulty (like iwbtg which was just regular needle gameplay and got so many hate threads).

      @@ekisacik if I remember I'll try to explain in detail later as now I don' have the time, but from what I gathered it seems to be either an issue with input lag on my machine (my hardware isn't the best so it's possible, though it only happens with slopes specifically) or with the slopes mechanics being way more precise than I anticipated, like 2-3 frames levels of precision, though no one of the people who I spoke with who have played and/or beaten the level think this is the case (and neither did I when I was playing speedtek, but that's a different level that might use different settings especially since it came out before the recent patches, so I don't think it's relevant)

    • @ekisacik
      @ekisacik  8 месяцев назад

      glad you can see the merit of it :3
      as for the "overuse": the way i see it the slope boost is a unit of movement, and the momentum it carries plus the environment "builds" different configurations of movement, and that variety is the important part. notice how some jumps are repeated, then made harder, or changed into a different configuration; it feels the same much of the time, but you definitely learn a lot more than how to just do the tech in this level. i suspect that's part of why a lot of people say they hated learning it but it got fun when they did, some even replaying it afterward

      Sorry for the ignorance (I'm an "old" gd player), but could someone explain me what a "slope"/"slope mechanic" is?

    • @ekisacik
      @ekisacik  8 месяцев назад

      @@edoh6381 a slope in geometry dash is one of the handful (but there's only two general shapes) of inclined surface blocks. these blocks have always had different physics than normal surfaces because in standard mode they had to force the player to move faster than normal. in platformer mode (and in 2.2), their physics were revamped a bit, and with the horizontal movement unlocked they were given more aggressive momentum preservation, to give it some unique gameplay. when you try to jump up a slope, you are given a penalty when trying to move in that direction further, until eventually you can't jump at all. jumping on a slope without holding a direction has the same effect. however (and you might hear people call this a bug, but it isn't): jumping away from a slope gives no such penalty. now, it turns out that it's very easy to jump away from a slope, and then turn around to go up the slope, climbing it without a movement penalty. the first rated level to showcase this, speedtek, dubbed this a "slope boost", though i think there might be better names. in terminal heaven, this concept is taken to the extreme: *almost every jump* is a slope boost, and you're forced to understand how doing them faster or slower combines with the fact that slopes retain momentum very well to beat the level.
