That was REALLY powerful! I was raised hard core Baptist, but pretty early on I chose between desire and the church. It was very personal. That ridiculous purity crap and all their bigotry against Catholics and Lutherans is why I'm not a Baptist now. The stuff is personal! No one should be telling you what should turn you on or not! Thank you!
As a former feminist, how they put the "should" on me that women should be strong was damaging. Too much pressure plus it makes you feel shamed when you're weak. Women are vulnerable in a lot of ways, and I am at greater peace accepting that. Doesn't mean I'm not strong in some ways at some times. I thought i would find "freedom" in the world away from Christians too, but the "liberation" offered by feminisn/the world just led me into an ultra creepy environment where men creeped on me all the time which is traumatizing.
@Lilalalalalallllla Oh, please...... Unless you were accosted or assaulted sexually or physically, get over yourself! Men "creeping" is quite the norm and it's not trauma. Please don't throw that word "trauma" around like it's M&M's. There are many people trying to deal with trauma to have your sensibilities' being offended as if it's true trauma. Please, consider others.
@zizendorf it's a mild but signifcant trauma because they're like vultures everywhere now. Get over YOURSELF and don't tell people how to feel or what to say
@@Lilalalalalallllla Nope, as a trauma therapist who works with young women who have been sexually abused and trafficked, spare all of us your disappointment in the world as an example of “trauma”. It’s offensive to survivors. Feminism results in your “victimization”? Spare me…, spare us. Adjust princess.
What the hell is a former feminist? I don't even know how one could consider being a "feminist" and a Christian? How do you adopt an ideology that runs counter to your mythical and misogynistic faith? Wow!
@@zizendorf Human experience is complex and varied. Don't assume what works for you is what someone else needs. Where you don't see it the same way, maybe it's an opportunity to learn and grow. And there absolutely are feminist Christians. The core of Christian ideology is respect God and do good to others. If some Christians adopt ideologies that fail to do so, then they have strayed from the faith.
Y'all thinking to deep on this subject. What does the Bible say, not what people said or did. You apply the secular approach to sex over the Word of God approach and come up with all this confusion. Stick to the book! The BIBLE
thanks for the comment Steven, but it's not how I see it at all. a healthy spiritual life takes deep thinking and deep reflection. also human sexuality is a complex thing, and your shallow perspective on the wonders of the scriptures takes this most amazing Bible and reduces it to over-simplification and harmful fundamentalism. Your draw to just a simple "stick to the book" is exactly what Christ condemned the Pharisees for and you're sadly doing the same thing. You reveal your trouble with cognitive dissonance, fear of rejection, and your internalized shame - and your simple "stick to the book" perspective is just your psychological and emotional avoidance. And it seems like you're a person who is attracted to rigid environments for those reasons. You're attracted to authority structures, and a type of christianity that perpetuates shame. Your "stick to the book" perspective just reveals your search for identity, emotional regulation, your relief of catharsis, and a wanting of rigid doctrinal beliefs about sin and redemption. This all reveals your deference toward religious authoritarians, as well. And Steven, the interplay of these factors, so obviously within you, is creating a complex dynamic where you may feel compelled to remain in these rigid shame-inducing environments, all masking as "god's truth," even if these environments are harmful to you. And the alarming thing is: You don't even recognize it. I hope you awaken. I hope you'll abandon your, "y'all thinking to deep on this subject," and you'll trust the better angel and intelligence within you and find a more generous faith, hope, and love. I believe you can be a deep thinker and feeler yourself - it's there within you.
Why would you promote something you yourself don't do? Old Testament: Do you expect grooms to purchase their wives, execute girls who lie about their virjinity, exile couples who have secs during menstruation, advocate for levirate marriage, or capture women as spoils of war and try them out before committing? New Testament: Do you expect wives to call their husband "lord"? Should women cover their hair in church? Do you advise against marriage because Christ might return any day? You don't really stick to the Bible, do you? We live in a different world with different constraints and assumptions, so we need to work out how "love our neighbour" works best in our context, not imitate solutions that might have been appropriate thousands of years ago but don't work today.

thanks for watching and writing.
I'd say the church's unhealthy approach to sexually is the main catalyst for me leaving
I get it Kyle... and I fully understand your reason for leaving. I hope you've found healthier ways to live.
And the way they made women dress in the 80s!
My wife still makes fun of me for thinking nylons are hot-maybe I could thank the Baptists for that😂
I thought this was Andy Warhal for a sec.
There is too much legalism in a lot of Christianity. The true gospel of Jesus Christ is a gospel of grace.

Then leave the Evangelical church. It's sick and twisted with this type of nonsense.
