If Pamuk hadn’t come along on the trip, Mary might have shown enough interest in Evelyn to receive a proposal. She hadn’t fallen in love with Matthew by this point.
I wish someone would do a video on the clocks of Downton Abbey! Every room has at least one clock, and the ticking in the background adds so much to the individual character of the room that it's in. Like a heartbeat -- the clock in Lady Mary's room has a frantic, high-pitched ticking that is so appropriate for the desperation of the scene just before they move Pamuk!
What's interesting is this scenario is baded on Actual events. Jullian Fellowes talks about it in early interviews about the show. The exact details are sparred to protect bith the innocent and the guilty. What's worse is that this scandal haunts Mary throughout the entire series. (In some form or fashion.)
I began watching this show thinking ... Hmmm it is about English Aristocracy. It will be a breezy romance or something. And then bam ..... there is a dead Turk in her bed. I was hooked
My favorite moment in the entire series was when the cat grabbed the roast chicken that Mrs. Patmore dropped on the kitchen floor!!! Moments like that, and the death of Mr. Pamuk, lift this series to a totally different level of entertainment!!!
Ive seen scenese like these in many other shows but i still dont get it and i know in England today they still do hunting but like i know theres restrictions , if they dont kill animals what do they do then
At an era when Europeans found it difficult to marry somebody from a different sect of Christianity, the thought of a British woman consorting with a Muslim man was indeed bold, if not outrageous. This particular scene was aired around 2011, but if shown in present day, I doubt the British audience will find it as acceptable as they did in those days, especially after the nationwide anti-Muslim violence in UK this year.
Stfu. If you think they were more accepting in early 20th century to now then you really are too far gone to reason with. You're just anti British racist. Good life loser.
@@Stand663 Non-sense. True Westernisation of Turkey didn't happen before the rise of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in 1923. Just by wearing Western outfits doesn't makes one Westernised.
It feels like when Sybil died the bridge that kept Edith and Mary connected broke, she was the peace keeper.
I could watch this show 24 hours a day.
I have the boxed set. Fantastic
Over and over and over again
I really liked the way Mary's expression changed when Pamuk said that his parents' wouldn't like her. It said: " How can amybody not 'like" ME???"

So great!

I think I saw Mr Pamuk staying at the White Lotus

How many times is this going to reappear on this channel???
‘Deadly’ scandal 💀😂
oh boy...
Pamuk means Cotton wool.
I remembered this scene as Pamuk being much older than Mary, perhaps because he died of a heart attack or a seizure or whatever.
Mary looks twice his age....

Haha, but wait a minute, here a muslim died, not a non-muslim.
Lawl what is this comment
The Turks were by that time more liberal and westernised. They dispensed with all backward muslin stuff and embraced the modernity.
