You do not have a true understanding about the treatment the lower classes received by the upper classes, especially when it came to houses like these. Downton Abbey was idillic fantasy of upper class. This teacher was showing remarkable bravery for stating her opinions, when the lower classes were expected to put up with their treatment and always defer to upper classes.
