I like that the amps aren’t labeled as British, American, etc. It’s smart of them to not necessarily elude to brand amp so much as a style of sound. So you don’t expect to get a Marshall out of it. I feel like people expect replica amps out of these things instead of just being happy with a great sound.
Ahhh, this comment! Well put and I absolutely agree. We can never appreciate what was given to use if we are unfairly comparing it to none comparable products. If we do, consumers are bound to shit on it and Line 6/ other companies would shy away from taking a chance like thia.
I just bought a Pod XT Live 2 days ago, been having SO much fun with the amp modeling and making presets...yea I know im over a decade behind but I am very happy with my new sounds and thats what its all about!
I still have my Pod X3 Live after buying it in 2008 and have used it exclusive ly until 2020. Sometimes I play it to mix things up, even though I have HX Stomp and Quaf Cortex.
The original was still good enough to feature on huge millio selling albums and live shows, even if it was just a cheap "home studio" device. Nobody really cares once the song is fully mixed and the melody and playing are good.
Between this and the Boss IR-2, pedals are getting so cool. Compared to Metal Zone plugged into a Crate amp I had when I was younger, these sound killer.
This thing is so sick. I'm a father of 5 now and haven't really played a whole lot in the last 6 years but the price point and utility of it is pretty badass! Seriously considering getting one to jam with the homies.
I have an hx stomp (which is one of my favorite guitar related purchases ever) but I kind of want this…. Line 6 have done an amazing job of putting the HX sounds in so many interesting and useful packages.
For $50 more or even less you can get the Hotone Ampero Mini with a touch screen and many more features then the Pod Express!I bought my Ampero Mini before Xmas it was a open box in new condition for only $160!Even new ones at the time i bought mine were going for around $210 on ebay!
I imagine this as maybe a Swiss army knife for some of those effects I use more sparingly. Also maybe filling the gap for a secondary delay. I could definitely see this making it on my board to save space on some of those effects I'm only using here and there. That's not to mention the fact that it could be a nice interface for quick and dirty recordings of ideas. Great review!
A few years back I really just wanted a way to play electric guitar through headphones in my apartment and I ended up getting an HX stomp. It was more money than I was wanting to spend at the time, but it does so much that I made it make sense. I couldn’t be happier with my stomp, and I still use it literally ever day, but if this thing existed I would have bought this shit so fast. Might still have to pick one up just because.
I've been using Line 6 products for a long time and this pedal is pretty cool. I'm currently using the Helix Floor for my live rig. I love real amps but the Helix makes it so much easier for travel and setup. In a pinch this little pedal could be a viable option. It definitely could replace the big bulky bedroom amp. Awesome review as always Fluff!! BTW, love the hoodie!! Representing Backroom studios in Jersey!! That's my bands home base. Currently in the process of recording with Kevin Antreassian. He's awesome at what he does and such an awesome dude!
The software side of things, and it's capabilities, feels like it could make this a *GREAT* pedal for people that are looking for something that works well as a clean pedal platform, as well as having effects if they're needed!
Scored a cat 200 about 6 months ago. Plugging in for the first time, i was bloody angry. It sounded like *ass. The update sounds a lot better, and it's actually great in a band situation. As a practise amp, it's pretty awful. Takes a while to get it sounding right. But you'll love it in time.
@ninetydegreeplanet I've loved mine since the day I got it. The sounds is great. Even the presets are good on mine. Didn't take me 10 mins to get it dialed in. And I haven't even used the app yet
@@redbloodedamerican2346 interesting. You didn't find it was harsh and rattly as sh*t and the EQ didn't seem to do much? I am starting to wonder if I got a dud.
You won’t know when most companies do new products. What’ll happen is people get word of a new thing coming out and all of a sudden all sales basically just stop rolling in until the new release. People save their money for the new item. While this is awesome for consumers this is detriment for companies. So they gotta keep the cool new stuff under wraps.
Looks cool. I got the Pod Go because it can do bass and guitar at the same time. Looks like they have a separate express for bass and guitar, you'd be almost the price of a Pod Go at that point... different use cases I guess. You can't run a Pod Go off of batteries.
Does Playing Boss LINE 6 POD make anyone else really happy? LINE 6 POD is quickly becoming my favorite pedal. It's just so beautiful and sexy. Practically free and the second you drop her on the board that chill ass mofo gives you a Rich Dark Gushing Robust tone.. And you also get this cute little 1/1 feedback response usually too harmless to be forgotten. But more than that, the Line 6 Pod is just so positively alluring. It comes on the board like "do you want to cast a spell?" and I'm like "yeah Line 6 Pod i do want to cast a spell let's do this shit" and when she attacks she's like "SPELLS ARE FUN" and I'm like "yeah they are SO FUN." She doesn't say some bullshit macho shit like "I will destroy you" she's just like "nah spells are fun and voodoo spooky.” And she looks so happy. I mean this is an inanimate object that literally brought my guitar to life by magic. It understands it's life is a temporary magical gift and the dude is just fucking loving it. I mean just look at her face she’s just so happy and cute as a button. I am literally never sad when Line 6 Pod is on board. IDK if she's gonna ever make it into the pedal HOF or not, but for now she a super dope chill pedal.
Sounds great but I feel like since they are using the HX amps, it is a missed opportunity that they didn't decide to use the 7 amps/cab slots for the major ones that most people want. Something like Twin Reverb, Tweed, AC30, Plexi, JCM800, Dual Rectifier, 5150?
Look, to me it still has that cheap fizzyness of a not-serious bit of kit, but honestly, if this was my first "amp" I would be pretty psyched with this. This would be great for practice or writing sessions. What a great little design.
I'd need a scorecard to figure out what preset I was on and what's in that preset. the light is purple so that means 2nd, no 4th. it's pointing to clean but I actually set it to a heavy sound. I think I had a pong delay but the knob is turned all the way down currently to analog. I turn that knob and accidentally change the bass level *head explodes*
i am intrigued. so am i going to be to go in the pedal and tweak settings on the effects and amp or maybe even shut off the amps and just use the effects?
Hey Fluff I’ve got a question that’s admittedly not entirely related to this video. I saw you recently got a Diezel VH2. And you also have a Quad Cortex, right? So I was thinking, could you imagine making a capture of the amp with the settings of Adam Jones? Do the tool fans a huge favor? I’d definitely be willing to pay for a capture like that. I know the QC has a VH4 model, but let’s be honest, it’s not the best. It’s like having the mashed potatoes but no sauce. Please pour some sauce over our mashed potatoes 🙏 lol that sounds incredible creepy when I read it back. But I guess you’ll get the metaphor. 😇
You definately have a beard 🤠 Does it compare to a Boss ME-80 in terms of sound quality? I know it is made of plastic but plastics can be solid as make the unit easy to carry around. I like the formfactor!!! And with volume control on phones you can use it as a headphone amp 😊 Still watching the video 🤠
Hi excellent review. I have a question. While in mode " presets ", can we change the presets with the footswitch ? Like a multieffects pedal ...the right footswitch for the next preset and the left to back and the presets before.......or you can only use the button in the middle to change presets ? Thank you :)
Don't need, will buy because well, it's a "pedal" after all. With a ton of amps, and effects, and looping and it runs on batteries. So is it really a "pedal" then? More like a Baby Helix, love it!
Is your signal cut off while in preset mode or can you still play while changing presets? Would love to be able to instantly change tones live, especially in the middle of a song, without using a midi footswitch with a modeling amp/laptop
Its truly a great time to be a guitar player
lol, man it really is! It's the golden age for guitar players!
@thatsmynamesowhat2949 some stuff may be better than other, but it's really all good
Agreed wholeheartedly!!!
It’s always Christmas
Ever since around 2017 its like a switch got flipped, its a very fun time to be alive as a guitarist for sure.
This is the kind of thing every little home studio needs. This, a decent microphone and some good midi drums and you are golden!
Except the sounds won't be better than what is in the DAW already.
@@nobrakes3765much harder to play through a DAW live with a band

That things sounds light-years better than the original. Amazing how far digital effects have come the last ~20 years.

Let me know if you want to sell it after you get all the shit out
Me too
What a fun design too, love this thing already. Such a quirky thing!

Make another dollar stealin a dime sell your soul just to buy buy buy
a good reason to get it? ... it can run on double AA batteries.. js! haha
