  • My Hair Loss Story | STOP doing this OR it will happen to YOU | Traction Alopecia
Traction alopecia is a form of hair loss in women caused by constant pressure being put on the hair follicle. *My Hair Loss Story | There's more than I told you: • I lied about my Hair L...
This can be unbelievably traumatic to experience and also to accept. What you didn't know is that it could be happening gradually, right in front of your eyes, because of something you are doing without you even noticing it.
You could get traction alopecia from clip in extensions, traction alopecia from wigs, traction alopecia from braids and/or traction alopecia from ponytails. There are SO many reasons why alopecia in women happen but almost no one gets down and dirty to talk about it.
    This is my story.

@Jack K Nah, she says it's from excessive dying but really it's from the brow bone / forehead reduction plastic surgery she got. They shave down the bone and have to lift the scalp up. Major hair loss occurs after the surgery. They staple the scalp in your hairline, so that it's hidden. But it can destroy some hair follicles in the process.

This may sound abit “out there” BUT I practice reiki and energy healing and I focus in that area. I also meditate on that area “experiencing it growing” in my mind until it feels real. I meditate daily and have great health. You CAN communicate with your body and achieve wonders... but it will take some effort!!! Don’t loose hope x

Girl. This video popped into my feed today. I took it as a sign. I’ve noticed my hairline getting thinner around the crown and sides for the past couple of years. I don’t wear very tight ponytails, however, I do put my hair up every night at bedtime into a loose bun and have been doing that almost every day during the pandemic. I need to stop this. So I asked my daughter to cut my long hair into a bob. We watched one of your blunt bob videos today and followed your steps. My daughter did a great job! No more putting my hair up anymore. I need to save what I’ve got! I’m now a new subscriber. Thanks, girl!! 😘

Don't give up! They told me the same thing, but I massaged my scalp every day, drank diatomaceous earth, put castor oil on my scalp, and started taking collagen peptides every day, and it rejuvenated my follicles and my hair is growing back. It takes work, and no shampoo or conditioner is going to help it. Sometimes, dermatologists just don't know alternative treatments that work. Sadly this happened to me. Ever since I was young, I would wear my ponytails really tightly. I never noticed a problem, until I started wearing side ponytails tightly. Since I had been wearing tight ponytails for (all my life, really.) I quickly started to notice that I was having a lot of hair loss at the side of my head. At this point it was too late. Because I was so scared of losing my hair, I let my hair down everyday from that day on.

Thanks for watching babe. You can get extensions but you need to make sure that you are going to someone reputable, that you are getting them shifted into different locations in the scalp during the move up appointments and that not too much weight is placed on the same area for too long. Extensions won't do this to you if you use them properly. I just misused them for too many years. The tight high ponytails did a lot of damage too.

I started changing my hair products to more natural ingredients, but I did a lot of research and finally tried Castor seed oil. This really helped creat new hair growth. I'm really sorry that you experienced so much hair thinning through your preferred hair style. It might be worth a try using the oil just to see if it works for you. It might even make a great RUclips video if you tried it for maybe a month and posted pictures. I'm actually very curious how other people's scalp or hair respond to this oil. I switched from box hair dyes to natural hair dyes like henna. Cassia (the herb) does not color the hair. I found out part of my hair loss was due to allergies in oxidative hair dyes. It was making my scalp inflamed which cause my hair to thin out.

When I was in the 4th-6th grade, I used to wear very tight high ponytails EVERYDAY. Keep in mind that I have stick straight hair, making my hair naturally a little thin, not very, but a little. Halfway through 6th grade, I realised what was happening to my hair. It started to get thinner, and that was when I realised I needed to do something about it. First things first, I stopped combing my hair when it was wet. Then, I got it cut short to the point where it was halfway down my neck. I took great care of it, I tried to incorporate proteins and vitamins into my diet and started to massage my hair every night for 10 minutes. I put oils in my hair overnight and washed it the next day ONCE A WEEK. After half a year or so, when my hair grew a bit, I realised that my hair had gotten thicker and my ‘bald spots’ got covered up. Nowadays, 2 years later, I seldom tie my hair up, even if I do, I tie it loosely. I tie my hair in a loose braid and loose low ponytails.

I started to itch on a particular spot on my scalp and it was a itch burning and when I saw it was a bold spot !! I stopped using the extensions ASAP .. applied aloe vera gel and it started to grow back !!! now my hair is thickening thanks to natural aloe Vera !!

Oh man. I thought I was the only one. Didn't know this was a condition. I loved the sleek, pulled-back ponytail since way before it was even trendy, back when I was in elementary school and it was the only style that suited me. Gave me an instant eye and brow lift. As I got older, I started pulling back all my hair in an extremely tight top knot since I started getting insecure about my hair, doing even worse than what you did. It sometimes even gave me headaches and now I look back and wonder why I made myself go through that. This was not only affecting my scalp, but it was also making my ends straw-like. I kept ignoring what it did to my hairline and now it resembles a bald man's.. I stopped this altogether when a hairstylist I recently went to pointed out how destructive this habit really was, and that we should just let our hair BREATHE. Thank you for sharing your story. ❤

I literally could have written this exact comment myself. I also felt like it was the only style that suited me and also the way I felt the prettiest. To this day, I still feel the prettiest when my hair is in a super sleek ponytail. I’m sorry you’re going through that too. I have more to the story that I felt too insecure to share so there is an update video coming out this Monday morning. Stay tuned for that. Traction alopecia was definitely the cause but it was also connected to a lot of other things. Thank you so much for watching and for supporting the channel. It really means a lot to me. I had a consultation for a hair transplant and I’ll make a video about that experience as well so if you’re curious you can stick around and watch how that goes. ❤️

You said that the follicle was coming out with the hair bud - could you see that? Sometimes I have hair that falls out with a little white bulb on the end and I wonder if that's a bad sign!

I could definitely see the tiny white bulbs at the end of the hair as it was starting to happen and throughout the entire experience of it happening (several years). I don't know for sure if the follicle comes out normally at times but I would consider talking to a dermatologist about it if it is happening often because I waited too long and it became way too late to do anything about it.

So for someone with this already bad hair condition, She need to wash her hair just 1/ week, stop blow dry, stop hair dye, stop taking birth pill control also, take zinc supplement , vitD3 and K2 because vitD diffecency not help to recover! (Check Dr Berg vídeos), massage the scalp with jojoba bio oil! Sleep and relax! After few months of this routine, colour hair with henna ( organic henna ) check Khadi brand really good brand!!

It's okay to do it as long as you don't position the ponytail or bun in the exact same area of your head over and over again and make it SUPER SUPER tight. Just adjust the placement of the up do so its low, mid and high and loosen the edges up a bit. Fine hair girls UNITE!

Your thumbnail grabbed my attention b/c that’s exactly my trouble spot that I inexplicably didn’t see until too late. I wore mine up for even more years. As a Natural Health Advocate/Educator, I’m not willing to accept a dermatologist’s call on “nothing can be done”, because pure essential oils ( plant power being designed and intended medicine IMO) have the ability to bypass the blood brain barrier, unlike any Rx, and very often produce seemingly miraculous results when Western trained Drs say No. Keep you posted!

Firstly, thank you so much for sharing this video! I only started putting my hair up like that for a year and started seeing the same pattern of hair loss. I know you mentioned your follicles are too far damaged, but I felt compelled to share this with you too because you've helped so many. I highly recommend Dr Joe Dispenza's book Breaking the habit of being yourself and his meditations, I understand some things are scientifically proven and as you said it is damaged. However our bodies are amazing and work with what our subconscious believes. 'Positive affirmations' aren't enough, it's with elevated emotions and pretending (eg) your hair grew back as if the experience already happened. Your mind doesn't know the difference between reality or thought. I hope this helps and you'll give this a try, I know it sounds a bit airy fairy but there are a lot of studies on this and many people reversed hard health conditions because of this. Thank you so much again for this video. xx

As a 23yo-male who has been growing his hair for 2 years, i noticed that my scalp hurts when i bind my hair too tightly. For this reason i can lose my hair. I asked many women. No one told anything. No one knows anything about tractionel alopecia. Whereupon I started to observe people's hair lines. I saw that men have a "M" shaped hair line because of androgenic alopecia naturally. And i saw that women have ragged hair lines. Most of women don't realize that their foreheads are being opened. Even so they think this is a variant. So I decided to give up the ponytails however even so i was uncomfortable with my unbinded hair because the hair that are in temporal area and close my forehead kept sagging to front of my face while I was working. It was annoying. I am still using hair clips(or instead, i wear bonnet) but I bind my hair loosely and I don't bind the hair that are close to my neck and close to my forehead together anymore.

Cut a green bell peper to pieces (u can add onion with the skin but cleaned as well as garlic !!) and put them in a hot but NOT burned olive oil leave it to cool down and put in a jar for 3 days and then take the pepper(everything u put in the oil ) and use the oil to massage the scalp amd leave it on for 2hours. Do it every three days and be patient it's a really famous recipe for thining hair.
And for the bald spots take garden cress seeds soak in water 1:2 ratio put them in a jar throw it in the fridge for 3days and start using the water on your scalp literally everyday (take the amount you need for your whole scalp and close the lid very well).
You could see results from the first month but don't loose patience.

Honestly. It just needs to be neat, clean and professional looking. There's no where in the regulations where it says it needs to be tight to the head and etc. She just needs to wear it neatly. Having fly aways doesn't make it look unprofessional.
      Hope that helps.

@Miss DaniOkay and I still presently serve in the Marine Corps. It's advice, if you want to have a hairline back to your ears then go ahead and rake your hair back in a super tight bun. I have hair down to my ass and I have been serving in the Marine corps since 2012. I think I just might know what I'm talking about when it comes to the hair regulations in the Marine Corps. Fly aways don't make you look unprofessional. Use nice hair gel and sulfate free hairspray and don't rip your hair out. If you are one of those people who can wear short hair, awesome. Some people just don't want that or it just doesn't compliment their face shape. I was personally not one of those people.
I get where you're coming from but stop leading this women astray. Having fly aways doesn't take away from your work performance or the uniform. As long as you look professional and your bun isnt falling out, it's really not that big of a deal. Just make sure it looks nice when you have check ins or formal events.

so sorry, this happened to you using extensions. When i was younger i tried almost ALL hair extensions, the worst were the sewn-ins. I also bleached my hair, burnt it to the point of damage. After my experiences I promised my Mom i would never, ever do such things again to myself. Because it does affect the natural growing cycle of the hair. Thank God, nowadays, i don't put any dyes anymore.

I've been feeling insecure lately about my hairline bc I finally accepted that it is receeding. I kept on telling to myself that it isn't since my hairline has always looked that way but when I see old pics of myself with my hair up compare to now, my scalp around my hairline is so much more visible nowadays. I never liked ponytails but I had to wear it up for 13 years due to school rules. Also, my hair's frizzy so I had to put hair gel, comb it until it's smooth and use hair pins to make it neat. I wish I didn't do all of that before. I wish someone warned me then. I know there are worse out there but I just hope that it isn't too late for me to fix this.

Working on the scalp of your health is first and foremost when it comes to beautiful full hair. Extensions will work well if you have a great stylist, maintain and care for them properly and take breaks but it is important to know that you can go down a slippery slope without even realizing it's happening until it is too late. my mom used to do my hair for many years and she'd always put my hair in a very tight ponytail. I never liked them. It always hurt and I don't like how I look like in a ponytail. She believed that tight ponytails are good for my hair and that it will keep my hair healthy. Nowadays I always keep my hair down and my mother says that that's the reason why my hair is so thin and "unhealthy"

I wear my hair down, but every couple of years, I also alternate the side that I part it on. It's so much fuller now.
Edit: I also developed an allergy to oxidative hair dyes (the ones you mix with a developer, even at professional salons). My hair started growing back once I quit using those. They were causing inflammation in my scalp.

This is helpful .. I found that applying Hair Moisturizing Factors + HA (The Ordinary) at the temples really helped the hair grow back, but I have been wondering why the hair follicles are so weak. What is bothering them? Then I found that washing infrequently (5 days) also made my hair thicker. Maybe some of us are just sensitive.

Another cause of traction alopecia is when those of us with sunglasses and eyeglasses keep getting our hair caught in the hinges! Too often, the hairs get caught and pulled out before we even have a chance to free them. For me, it’s starting to look like I have a receding hairline! I guess it’s happened whenever I’ve had long bangs, but I used to have so much hair it wasn’t noticeable. Then I hit my 60s!

All tight hairstyles worn often cause hairloss, regardless of type. Point, blank, period. Next you'll be spewig idiotic nonsense about how hard it is for "some" people to grow their hair.
