One of the greatest rock bands ever. Period.
Love this song! I was 11 years old in 1965 but I remember it well!
I still say......One of the greatest bands of all time!!
One of the best live rock bands ever
Not really, lol.
I love the Kinks! All Day And Night 🌙
I was 14 or 15. We kids used to stay up late listening to music through a little microphone disc that you put under your pillow. Our parents did not approve of any popular music.
I still love it. Nothing has ever changed.
"Эта песня , спустя десятки лет , может расшевелить танцующих разного возраста...
This was the music of my youth, the 1960's really rocked
One of the GREATEST Rock songs ever, by one of the GREATEST Bands ever.
Dave smiles when he messes up the chord--more interested in making his hollow-body sound bad-ass. Pure
attitude.
Dave slamming that rhythm guitar power chords, jumping into that lead and back...awesome.
if you like this you might like my brothers music. his name is Stu Morris
Always loved the sixties, eventhough I'm pretty glad I was born in today's generation. But that will never stop me from loving music like this. Plus I always have to think of my crush when I listen to it. I mean... he's not even into that kind of stuff and listens to metal, but he looks like he straight up came from Woodstock. Haha, sending my love to all my fellow Punks and Hippies enjoying their life.
The beggining sounds like the bridge of Hello, I Love You, of The Doors. These guys influenced Jim Morrison
eliza consuegra The Doors had to admit in court that they nicked the riff for Hello I Love You from this song and paid The Kinks money for it.
ranica47
I'll be darned. Did not know that. Thanks.
@@ranica47Sir Ray laughed all the way to the bank.
The early version of 'My Eyes Have Seen You' is also a pretty straight lift of You Really Got Me, but they changed that enough for the album version that they seem to have gotten away with it - never seen it mentioned.
@@tomchristie3199 Some claim they were the founders of Punk some say heavy metal, but l think them being the pioneers of Flower music or psychedelic music with All Day & All of the Night and You Really Got Me sounds to me to be much more reasonable .
Dave's guitar is an Epiphone Casino. John Lennon, George Harrison, Keith Richards among others played Casino too
... and Paul McCartney, who still plays. In fact, was the first Beatle to acquire this hollow body guitar for studio work (in late 1964). John Lennon and George Harrison get their matching Epiphones in 1966.
This was just before Dave began playing his '58 Gibson Korina Flying V...he went to a music shop and spotted the odd shaped guitar case with an inch of dust on it and insisted on buying it, even though the owner tried to talk him out of it. Dave would not be deterred, and fell in love with the V! 🎸🎸🎸
Awesome song, a favorite band, ahead of their time.....
Go Hawks!! :O)
This demonstrates that there was a time when rock and roll bands made their own music and could play their own instruments. The Kinks were one of a great many great bands of the 60's, the golden age of rock and roll.
Literally 0 bands whatsoever do this today. Music is completely fucked. You can't spell crap without rap.
This songs Rocks my world even though I wasn't born when it was released. 2019 July anyone?
One of the greatest bands. Love these old videos. So happy to watch on Utube.
this is just so unbelievably powerful
-raw, hard hitting, HONEST, classic, rock and roll
Love this!!! So Inspiring--Thank You!!!
One of the first riffs I ever heard that changed me forever
They was the first punkrock band :-)
THANKS!!!
At a recent family wedding bride and groom left the service to this...priceless!
Love Daves' face when he fucks up!
Raw and rough sound... just as I like !!!!
I love the solo on this song. God, every CD in the late 60s and the first few from the 70s are some of the best song for song albums in rock history
Inspired punk rock and heavy metal rock. Lennon and McCartney must have said WTF when the heard this and You Really Got Me.
I love everything about this performance.... The grit & the soul .
I look at this and think: 4 smartly dressed accountants.
Then they start the song and I think: Hey, they're not accountants, they're dangerous assassins, and they mean to kill!
That's a pretty good assessment.
wtf, that was very interesting xD lol, gr8 way to put it though!
They're well respected men about town .
Nah - they were sexy talented mods
Yeah, cos accountants wear those sort of collars on a day to day basis!
Una de las tres grandes bandas de la primera mitad de los 1960. The Beatles, The Who y The Kinks sólo ellos
Fuck yeah Dave Davies! The Rosetta Stone of rock riffs. I'm just now learning the genius and glory of two string power chords!
Gotta LOVE at 1:06 in when Dave flubs a chord and makes the funny face...then keeps on plowing through the song!! Professional at a very young age !!!
if you like this you might like my brothers music. his name is Stu Morris
Love Dave's enthusiasm. One of the great 60's bands. Brilliant song.
Greatest rock n roll song of all time!
I love this song along with ‘You Really Got Me.’
I Bought this on a 45 rpm single in 1964. I was in a band and had my guitar amplifier in my room at a boarding house and played the record on my record payer jacked into my 15" speaker Ampeg tube unit and put the dial on #10. After the record played, the landlady came upstairs and said don't ever do that again or you are out of here.
It’s a good thing you hadn’t turned it up to 11.
so punk ! i love Ray and Dave ! ❤ and the way Ray delivers ruefully his lines and Dave's crazy dancing , whats not to love
if you like this you might like my brothers music. his name is Stu Morris
Check out Dave Davies on lead. Clapton called him the influential guitarist of the 1960's. He rocked
First concert of my life - The Kinks, Tampa, Florida, Ft. Homer Hesterly Armory, 1972. Love that band!
These guys were the hardest rockers of the ere, the first album is still a classic of good hard rock
Man, the way they made their sound turn huge with the back up vocals. Awesome
That little grin when he botches the chord was perfection. That’s EXACTLY how you do it. If people aren’t gonna notice, don’t acknowledge it. If they’re gonna notice, make it fun. The joke’s only on you if you aren’t in on it.
I'm not content to be with you in the daytime
Girl, I want to be with you all of the time
The only time I feel alright is by your side
Girl, I want to be with you all of the time
All day and all of the night
All day and all of the night
All day and all of the night
I believe that you and me last forever
Oh yeah, all day and nighttime yours, leave me never
The only time I feel alright is by your side
Girl, I want to be with you all of the time
All day and all of the night
All day and all of the night
Oh, come on
I believe that you and me last forever
Oh yeah, all day and nighttime yours, leave me never
The only time I feel alright is by your side
Girl, I want to be with you all of the time
All day and all of the night
All day and all of the night-time
All day and all of the night
G r e a t song! To me, it was ahead of its time, especially Dave Davies' guitar playing. I have this VHS tape and just watched it yesterday on my used S-VHS player. Thanks for uploading.
Saw them in 64 at the midsouth coliseum in Memphis. Almost fell out of my seat !!!
if you like this you might like my brothers music. his name is Stu Morris
This is so brilliant, what else can I say. It has been said already by all of you. I loved the Kinks when i was younger and I think this is an amazing life performance, thanks so much for the posting!!!!
The video is nearly 60 years old The kinks pretty good for the classic black and white❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉😢
wow this is brilliant, such an influential band
The Kinks own The Beatles all day and all night.
Well, no, but they're one of the very few bands who are on the same page. Absolutely fantastic.
rbraxley Agree, Kinks were rocking with the very best, but you cannot say one is better than the other. Beatles had the most impressive catalog, while Kinks may sound cooler these days..
Kinks, Yardbirds, Animals, all were the leading edge of the British Invasion, all a bit of a harder edge than the Beatles and sometimes even the Stones. Classics from my misspent youth! Lennon and McCarthy helped mature Rock. I don't think they had a bad song, especially in their early catalog. All those early songs just seem to resonate within me.
haha. Nonde of these reinvented themselves over and over again like the beatles. Great bands all of them, but thats where the beatles leave them standing
In '65, perhaps. Later, it not easy to compare and there's no need to. They were both great.
This song is easily a decade before it's time. Pure genius behind that guitar.
You can't beat the music of the 60's and this is a good example of that.
The rarest guitar sound of all time!!!!!
First hard rock band?
Dave influenced all rock guitarists including Townshend who admitted to "nicking" chord changes and modulations (key changes) from the Kinks.
no shit
Is Punk And Hard Rock
Bo Diddley was the first hard rocker.
Yes Hard Rock And Punk Rock
Un étonnant mélange de décontraction et de rage,le swing de Sunny afternoon et la dynamite du hard avant l'heure de you really got me.des l'âge de 13 ans j'étais fasciné par les Kinks

1965 I was 10 years old
Was such a cool time to grow up
