I rotate my body the same way when I do split squats! Like literally everything Brian does during splits squats, I DO. Except that I’m only 5’3” This was so helpful!
Butter Pecan Recan 😅👌🏻
I like that your actually working out with him, your not just telling him what to do
oh shit, great guest
Thank you! 🙏
Typical bodybuilder mentality when the guy under pressure is the one saying "two more" rather than the coach 😂
😂
i know wrestling has a funny past but man r some of those guys n gals some crazy athletes
This was my first close up exposure to everythign that goes into wrestling - they really don't get their deserved credit for the amount of work they do!
Really love the practical takeaways throughout the video! Really helps make these insights more actionable
Glad it was helpful!
Eugene thank you so much for this. Dealing with patellofemoral tendinitis. While I’m stretching through it, I was frustrated with finding the right leg exercises without knee pain. Your front foot elevated split squats are money-I will try these as well-thank you so much.
Loved this crossover from one of my favorite wrestlers to one of my favorite youtubers
Thank you! 🙏
This is excellent coach!!
Just find this channel through John Meadows (RIP) and already loving it. Thanks for sharing your expertise, Eugene!
love your coaching and wisdom eugene
Thank you! 🙏
😂 this man said fap, make a latte 🤣. I like the humour Eugene.
i thought i was the only one who saw that 🤣🤣🤣
Best pre workout
Eugene I love your content!! This was great.
Plus you show and mentioned active hamstring stretching which my coach literally just told me to add that into my workout for hamstrings. Will definitely try that banded toe touch you showed at the end.
Plus the workout you did was 45min for legs! That’s perfect. Liked hearing that. Short and effective
Thank you! 🙏
Omg I needed this video!
you are crushing it. Thank you!
Thank you for this. I can't wait to try these techniques. I have terrible knee problems for a total of 6 surgeries
Good luck!
The Machine Brian Cage!!!
split squats have been helping my knees immensely
I had sore knees and weak quads. Interestingly I added Leg Ext as warm up 2x a week and Hack squats as main set. My hams were more rehab type movements. 2 months later and no pain
Great video as always Uncle Eugene! Got any tips for those of us who suffer from piriformis flare-ups from BB squats? 💪🏼☺️
Eugene is the best. Thanks for sharing this video
Thank you! 🙏
Subbed, omg your content is awesome
Damn I never thought I would see a Brian Cage / Eugene Teo crossover, this is amazing.
Thank you! 🙏
I think this is the solution to my new knee issues. Never had them before but I've been doing a great, very heavy glute focused program and have been focusing a ton on driving through my heels to really feel the glutes working for most of my lower excersizes. I had to take a 2 week break from the gym for life reasons but in that time my knees began to hurt only when I go to sit on a chair or get up from the chair, so any light squatting motion in the midrange only, where the quad tendons meet the top of the patella. I am young and have been strength training for years but this knee pain was unexpected, especially during a rest period when I didn't feel/experience any injury at the gym or DOMS at the time. Going to try this when heading back to the gym this weekend 👋 🇨🇦
Hope it helps!!
I had opposite experience I fixed my knee pain by focusing solely on quad dominant movement. I elevated my heels during squats did tons of one leg leg extensions.
Insane ihad the same experience.
I got injured to my back and elbow snowboarding and I took a 10-15 days full stop, I started just going for walk after and I had knee pain 😅 ( never had before I can squat 170kg at 78bw have been training in the gym for 6-7 years)
I have right knee pain, imma try this workout next, especially the split squad variant with the smith!
Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what kept you going.
I like using stretching as active rest as well. I use it personally... As well as with my clients who are pressed for time, but have flexibility goals. A mix of active and passive stretching personally.
That stick on RDLs made such a huge difference.
Got me with "Fap" and "Make a Latte" lol
Nice hair cut!
Thanks!
Is this a Cybex smith Machine ? Great session!
Can you do a video on tennis elbow? Or have any advice on it?
Would love to hear your thoughts on Knees Over Toes Guy
Anecdotally obviously, I had great success using KOT programs after a meniscus tear last year. I still require surgery, but using the methods outline I was back faster after injury and my knees and ankles feel more stable overall. After my surgery I’ll use some of the exercises with Physio to get back to full strength. You can get most of the info from his IG, but a couple months of the programming was worth the cost for me. Hope that helps
Great video - my knees are shot from running so I can totally relate!!
I am only 22 but I've struggled with knee pain for years already, even before I started lifting. I always admire people with strong knees, mine seem to naturally stick out a little, don't know how to describe it😂 sometimes it gets better after training though, I still have to figure out what exactly relieves the pain🤔
Box jumps are one of the most enjoyable exercises that I perform due to the break from weight lifting, being bodyweight, and the improvement in functional athleticism. However, they can cause knee pain for me on the dismount, which tends to be a jump back down to keep rhythm on 32-36 inch jumps. I try to land mid-sole, slow down, and on jumps 36+ sorta push off the box with my hands to reduce the distance. Previously, I had not had knee pain in another gym, despite the floor conditions being similar. It may be bc I weighed less then and was in the better shape that I am working toward now. Do you generally recommend box jumps? If so, could you do video on how to perform them, exercises to improve lift, reducing knee pain etc.?
04:00 nice lifting shoes mate!
nice one, lets go for elbow & triceps pain next :)
What are your thoughts on the bench add on leg extension and curls? The better machines that everyone uses use cables so they are the same tension through the whole movement. I work out in my basement so all I have is the bench add on one for my ironmaster bench. Is it still a fairly good exercise even though most tension is at the end? I've had knee issues for a while that have been generally improving and I feel like just strengthening the knee tendon itself will help.
W video as usual
Thank you! 🙏
How much does lifetime access costs for Ganbaru Method?
Watching this video while having a knee injury is interesting

Heya Eugene, I have a question. I’ve been doing something Similar to your Banded Compression Forward Curls. Is there any precedent for Flexibility Gains through potentiating the agonist muscle with heavy sets then loading against the stretch ? Like the Feet Elevated Seated Pancake Stretch after RDL’s, Seated Good Mornings and Jefferson Curls ?
Finally finished off by multiple-partner-assisted pancake stretches at the very end to ease into max pancake flatness ? Or is it an accident waiting to happen and I’m just not there yet ? I’ve been seeing really good results in flexibility week to week, but I’m yet to injure myself so… wondering if there’s any info on it.
Holy shit.....Its the machine...Brian cage. Is Brian's gonna hit Eugene with a drill claw? 😆 Awesome video man.
Thank you! 🙏
2:08 I knew it! I should've cut out fapping and making lattė from my warm-up routine years ago. Thank you, coach!
Eugene, in this situation, would you also say that barefoot shoes with a wide toe box would also be beneficial for him? I find it so difficult to help my friends improve their sqauts or deadlifts when in my opinion the first step is simply take those stupid running shoes off! How do you handle this with clients who refuse to hear about their running shoes being bad for their form and knees?
My knee hurt with some excercises
Dr Mike teaches RDL's like that: when you go down tell yourself chest up butt back knees back
I have always been told to push with heels, this is wrong then? I do struggle with knee pain and the best thing to do then is to push with the middle is part of my feet?
How can I book a private session with master teo ?
Great vid, thank you again. I wonder if his knee pain doesn't come down to his weight in combination with his job occupation. I'll bet if he wasn't as big that it would be easier to pull off his wrestling moves without as much stress on his knees. Yeah, I know, not being as big isn't ideal for a pro wrestler....but it might be a better compromise versus an earlier career ending if his knee pain gets worse.
THere'd absolutely be many factors contributing to it, and his weight and high impact work would definitely be included in that. It's tricky to say what the best course of action is though as plenty of pros larger than him and across other sports DON'T have knee pain - so it's highly likely that effective training can be a good solution
Whats the purpose of the back plate with the split squats. It’s created a deficit but i thought 90% weight was on the front foot
I keep getting pain on the two muscles above my knee cap, left leg on the inside front is painful. Seems to want to give way on squats, even going up stairs after. Never damaged it although I do Muay Thai. Can usually bruise and cut my legs and not know where the marks have come from. This does hurt though.
Doubled in size after a week bending at work.
Simply not been the same since
How could you cut that hair, Samson? Just kidding, of course! Love the content and the specific content here applies to me 100%. Very, very useful and beneficial.
What were your form prompts on the ham curls? I heard you say stretch it, just wondering what i could think about when i do them to get the most benefit, cheers
If you've set up well with hips back (the other cue i used) you shouldn't need much else due to it being a very stable machine
Hey Eugene every time I do RDLs or SLDL my grip seems to take over… I’ve always heard just ditch the straps but do you recommend them for certain exercises like this? Where my grip is taking over but I’m working my hamstrings it just really bothers me lately
awesome thanks for the tips as a coach myself I will definitely incorporate some of this stuff to help my clients
should you lockout fully on squats?
Just dont slam them
We want more Mama videos please Eugene :)
I had ankle operation that limits ankle mobility so the heel wedges have to be far too high for squats. I don’t get the knee pain with squats but get it with hacks and leg extension. I can’t quite place my finger on it
Hope this helps!
@@coacheugeneteo the issue is loading the quad in a fully lengthened positioned
2:15 The last two are imperative imo
perfect timing! im a titan and my knees have been recently paining once i've squatted 5605x5 , now my knee hurts whenever i try to progressively overload(no cap) These tips helped me to relieve my knee pain. Im going for the 7095lbs mark this year, wish me good luck.
Good luck
@@coacheugeneteo bruh💀💀
Love the new haircut
Regular barbell squat with lacking mobility and flexibility is fcking alot of peoples knees up over time. I don't really BB squat anymore, and my legs are bigger than ever. I squatted 405 for 10 at 200 bw but always felt my knees were irritated - EVEN THO i had flawless technique - till I stopped bb squatting, then progress began and my legs grew ALOT faster. I do RDL too tho. Not sure I will be squatting reguarly again haha, wasted years on that exercise and I am no powerlifter .. just want growth.
His torso ought to be more tilted forward when doing seated leg curls as per your gym hacks in prior video, right Eugene?
Is there a reason why the RDLs are performed on plates? Always been curious
More range of motion
@eugene teo I thought so. I'll give it a go
3:41
GMSI
Great video, thanks eugene. You have the nicest looking gym - can you open something in the UK please 😅
Can you do one for elbow pain and shoulder. My elbows started hurting 2 weeks ago out of nowhere, I did not injure myself at gym. I've been lifting for 15 years and never felt this also some shoulder pain I have no idea why or where it came from but have been limited for past two weeks. I did start taking kratom around that time but stopped raking it and pain still there it's very discomforting and annoying since can't lift heavy like I was.
I have found walking backwards on incline treadmill helped with my knees
5:16 hi coach!..can you do a separate more detailed video about this mid foot activation drill..can we use this for squat also?
Sure thing!
How does a guy get so big without ever learning decent RDL form?
Maybe because form doesn’t build muscle it just may help prevent injury risk
Long hair looked good on u man. Why cut them😢
Is a split squat also a lunge…? Don’t see a difference….? 🧐
technically split squat is stationary, whereas lunge is travelling. But I personally use the names interchangably
@@coacheugeneteo ahhh I gotcha! I’ve been doing split squats and calling them lunges this whole time lol 😂
Rip long hair. Cut mine too 😂
Damn, I gotta give up my pre-workout fap AND latte? What if I do both at once to save time?
😂
2:27
Fap
Make a latté
🤣
after this video and now with two degrees of separation, I can share with you my theory about how Super Dragon is actually Dr. Mike Israetel...
😂
can you talk about the benefits (if any) and the cons (if any) to foot placement and stance width in barbell squats? Everyone does shoulder width but I've been looking at older lifts and some have the feet right next to each other but I almost never see anything about extremely wide squats or squatting from the balls of your feet and the mechanics, pros and cons of these kinds of movements.
What would you recommend volume wise weekly for hamstrings for a beginner if a. Going to failure b. Leaving 1-2reps.in the tank? Would it still be 2 sets as you said in the video.
One KEY question I did have , was how would you count ' uni lateral' volume- would a single arm bicep curl count as only half a set or one set in your opinion?
isnt there more pressure on the knee when doing slit squads? my knee feels like it explodes when i do this, even with sleeves
how to address knee pain on the leg extension? something to do with kneecap position/orientation?
I always see people at the gym doing foam rolling, taking a long pole and doing twists, and all kinds of other warm ups and stretches while my nephew and I just jump right into whatever it is we're doing for the day. We're in and out inside 30-45 minutes while these guys/gals are typically only starting after about 30 minutes. Such a massive time sink. When I hear people say they spend 2 hours in the gym and I ask them what they do they always talk about these extensive warm up routines which take up a quarter to half the time.
As far as driving from your mid foot, I've found that barefoot shoes (I use Skinners), help tremendously and actually give me better stability.
@eugene teo
I would prefer the text tips be static than moving with your body because the contrast with the background and size of the text make a hard to read as is.
Would one side if doing split squats count as a 1/2 set or 1 set? Thanks
Sometime we just need to do some provocative movement at slow tempo to desensitized the pain. Like do some light and slow supported sissy squat.
And also we dont have to keep increasing load to achieve progressive overload. We can progressive overload in many way.
And again great content to educate the public. I hope one day you, adam meakin and biolayne can team up together to bust some myth.
Me looking at the thumbail: "this guy looks like Brian Cage" as a wrestling fan I was not expecting this crossover 😂
For people who dont know him: his athleticism is impressive, specially for someone his size
It's incredible!!
From the list in 2:13 I do tend to concentrate a lot on FAP and LATTE, sometimes at the same time too.....
using flip flops instead of shoes cured my knee pain by fixing my walking pattern
the craziest shit whacks out the knees of some people
I've been noticing knee pain as well for the past 2 months, switched walking style and shoes and that seemed to have fixed it. Definitely had something to do with the vibrations of putting my feet on the ground when I made a step.
Also consider your shoes, runners are not good, if you can train barefoot, that's how I do it. I also just recently bought Vivobarefoots and their awesome, helps with my posture. And no this is not an endorsement lol
LOL @Fap
Ashamed to say I caught that fart at 6:55 on the last leg extension rep lmao
Eugene: would be great to see a video on training in Ramadan.
Seems the devil is really in the details
WHO?!
Fap... 🤣🤣🤣
You cut your hair!
No special content....sorry
