Before you speak Think!
T- is it true?
H- is it helpful?
I- is it inspiring?
N- is it necessary?
K- is it kind?
Love this!
Yes it is for me Marilyn♥️
Amen
Dry true. I like the acronym
Oops. Very..not dry. 😂
It is nobody's business how many oats you need and use. I think we need to bring back the term, "mind your own business!" Enjoy whatever oats you buy and use. Be a good steward of what you buy and use. And forget what everone else is saying. I think your recipes are great. I am going to try them!
Thank you so much!
Please do not feel like you need to explain how you use your food. It truly is your money, time, kindness and love that goes into everything you do. I learn a lot from your videos so keep up the great job
Thank you! That’s so kind!
I'm sorry you feel like you have to defend yourself. You've explained so many times how hard it is to find some of these things in Alaska. You do what you need to do to feed your family. Most of us have seen what is coming and are trying to fill our pantry. Loved this, I'm the only one here that likes oatmeal so I can't really justify more than the big tub I get lol. It all looked so good to me. 💛
Oh thank you!
For those of us that buy in bulk, a few times of the year, to save money and time, we get it. No explanation necessary. Frugal scratch meal preppers, all do this. We don't shop weekly, and sometimes not even monthly. We buy what we use, and we use it over months and we know how to cook, and we take pride in making healthy meals for our family. Fabulous video! Great recipes.
Thank you! Agree!
I would like to see a video of you put you azure haul away and one of you refilling you pantry jars. Love all your videos
Oh I love love love decanting videos!!! Ok next time. But it might be a few months! Only because I worked all last month on getting it all full. But you know what I should at random fill stuff. And just include it.
I have to mention the superior quality of Azure rolled oats and every single product I've purchased from them. I make mine 1 cup at a time but definitely going to try making some ahead. I use a mixture of pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds and also dried chopped dates, just for a couple of other ideas. There is no way you could even find anything in the store that would equal what you made yourself today. I've been ordering small amounts of things like the chia and flax seeds, so I'm going to try that too. There are only 2 in my house now and I go through 25lbs of oats pretty quickly, maybe 6 months at the most. I encourage everyone to try this, it's one of those things that you'll say "Where have you been all of my life?" No comparison to the packets. Thanks for all of the combination ideas. I appreciate you!
I love dates in my oatmeal!
I agree with other commenters that you shouldn’t have to defend the fact that your intelligent, love your family and have an understanding of what life changes are coming. I enjoy watching and learning from you and other homesteaders and feel bad that these virtue signalers 🙄 give you a hard time. Understand they are the minority and need to learn some of life’s hard lessons.
Thank you! So very kind of you
Life happens, such as: job loss, illness and so on. All things that have affected my family in years past. Those life lessons have taught me to keep a pantry to feed everyone for 1 year and yeah, I rotate through it as well. Does that make me a hoarder or a planner? There will always be mouth runners, no matter how many times you try to explain this. I view people from the prospective of, does their opinions pay my bills or if I had a problem? Would they be on my list to seek out for advice? Probably not. I am sorry you feel the need to justify your life decisions, but from this Subscriber... I'm here for your journey, not to tell you your business. I think most of us feel that way. So next time? Buy a 100 lbs. of oats😀
Lol thank you I’m Going to!
Please don’t feel you have to justify your stock and taking care of your family to anyone. Everyone is at different places on their journey to being able to care for their families, especially in tough times. Those that are just awakening to how no one is coming to save them from tough times are trying to catch up and are realizing the sense of panic starting to set in their stomach. Some will lash out and blame others for their not recognizing what’s happening around them, but most will look for others like yourself who have already figured out what we ALL should be doing for our families, looking to learn❤️🙏🏼🇺🇸
Oh thank you that’s so kind. I told Aaron I just want to teach these young ones who no one taught. Hey do this and after you buy x,y,z you can make all these things with it.
Keep doing what you do! Love the ideas with oats.
Thank you for watching
I love your apron. Great recipes.
Thank you!
Thank you for this video. Great way to change up what we each are doing already!!! Love your ideas !!!
Amen! Figuring out how to make things at home is truly saving my family $ and it makes it ok to keep buying and stocking up.
This popped up in my video feed and I was soo excited because I have sooooo many oats in my preps. Thank you!
Oh that’s amazing
I make instant oatmeal up for myself in single serve containers, take it to work and use the Keurig for hot water several times a week. I don't eat breakfast before I leave home and eat it at my desk- I start at 7am too early for food. I think I will give baked oatmeal a try!
Thank you for your videos! It is like listening to an old friend chat. ❤️
Yeah thank you!
I made your breakfast burritos this morning to put in the freezer for hubby and I. Next is the breakfast sandwiches and different oatmeals. I’m loving your channel Jessica! Excellent content and content creator.
Wow I’m so happy to hear that.
Lol 60 or 72 bags ? 😂 and everything looks awesome
So many no matter what! Thank you
Thanks for the recipes. Just made apple n cinnamon and the blueberries with cream . I haven't tried the blueberries but Im eating the apple right now , so good.
Oh great I’m so glad!
OK warrior woman...what a great video today! I love how you made everything today. Each bag of oatmeal sounded delicious! I have never had baked oatmeal before, but I know I will try it now! Granola is one of my favorite foods too! Don't listen to other people about what you buy for your family...you don't have to justify anything to them! Remember...you are FIERCE!!! Hugs and blessings!
Ditto
How is it I don’t know you personally but you bring me real true joy!
Thank you
@@modernhomesteadalaska Who doesn't love a cheerleader!!!
So cool!!! I’ve never seen baked oatmeal with pumpkin. It looks and sounds delicious! Great job! I use oatmeal, flax seed and chia seeds in what I call applesauce bread. I adapted it from an old family recipe that used crud I and applesauce. I have reduced the oil and use coconut oil in its place and have increased the amount of applesauce. It is so delicious and filling! I have to double or quadruple it when I make it because it goes so fast. Lol. Keep up what you are doing! You are so inspiring and a breath of fresh air and positivity in a world that seems to be getting darker by the day. God bless!
Thank you God bless!
I think people need to understand you are feeding 4 adults. And keep their negative thoughts to themselves. I am thankful for your videos. Rock on!
Exactly thank you!
Good Job "Cheffe Jess"👩🍳👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👌❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
👋😍🇺🇲🇲🇫❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you
I see so many homesteaders and peppers on youtube being attacked for having backups and stockpiles. My parents were raised during the depression and we always had a stocked pantry and stockpile because they remembered not having enough food to eat. I think this is only common sense and forward looking. The people who criticize are the ones who will be begging for help during the next pandemic, economic downturn, etc.
Amen! We are just trying to teach others what we know works. But some will never listen.
I’m the only one who will eat oats in my house.😔 These were some great ideas. My family doesn’t know what they’re missing!😀
Oh man! You get all the good stuff then.
@@modernhomesteadalaska Right!!!
I 100% know your family goes thru a lot of food as y’all don’t sit at a desk all day or go to drive thru fast food everyday.
We do not! It would cost more gas then it’s worth
Great video. Definitely going to try these recipes. I live in the UK so will have to go to the health food shop. Thank you for the recipes.
Edited for spelling
Perfect thank you
I love blueberries or bananas in my oatmeal. Another favorite is to put strawberry preserves in it too. Lol. Now I'm hungry.
Yummy!!! I have so many jams snd jelly for winter. I want to now open some and put it in my oatmeal!
Baked oatmeal sounds so delicious! I just told my husband I wanted to learn how to make granola, thank you for sharing that, it looks delicious! Actually everything looked good, I love oatmeal, I too use it for making meatloaf and meatballs, it was what my mom did, the only way I will eat meatloaf. TFS
Yeah great!
Yes you are! You have a large family. You have to feed them! Thank you for the baked oatmeal recipe. I watch a lot of Vlogs about buying in bulk, you are not a lone in buying in bulk. Everyone is buying because of the inflammation prices. They simply buy one extra or two. I’ve learned a lot from you so thank you I really appreciate your effort
Wow thank you!
Always love your videos and really enjoyed watching you do this meal prep. Blessings 🙌
Sending love from Ontario 🇨🇦
Thank you Jessica, I appreciate the ideas on how to cook, use my oats and save time. Wow I had not even thought of using my powdered milk for the cream.
Yeah thank you
Regardless of where you get your stock, I love seeing different applications for basic things like oats. I love oats. I make baked oatmeal often and add oats to different breads and muffins for texture. I'll definitely be using the recipe for instant oatmeal this winter!
Wonderful thank you
This is giving me great ideas, I’d love to use mason jars however they are in short supply after canning season. The snack sized bags would be easier to store but a mason jar would work well for a grab and go.
Great idea!
Really enjoyed this video
Thank you!
Oh forgot to say I will be making your granola and baked oatmeal they look delicious thanks for sharing!!! Also can you make other flavors of the baked oatmeal? If so can you explain what and how. LOL Thanks again
Great thank you. Yeah I’ll keep sharing them.
Another great video. Very informative. Lovn' the apron especially the 'egg pouch'! And.....72
Lol thank you!
Brilliant video on oats 😊😊😊 learnt a lot Really looking forward to your next video 👍👍👍👍. By the way the ( original intro ) is the best!!!! Love from the UK x
I agree I need a new one!
I enjoy your videos immensely and even learn new recipes ! So much inspiration❤ God bless you and your family, Deb
Than you Deb
72 INDIVIDUAL PACKETS 6 FLAVIORS!!! WOW! You go, Mama!
P. S. I love that you use Asure!
Yeah thank you !
You made 6 different kinds 72 total instant oatmeal packets. I absolutely love this idea so I an going to be adding these yo my stock pile. Since my kids and hubby are up and leaving early for school and work. I never thought about making my own until you made this video. Thank you so much for sharing. 😀 I love Azure and love watching all your videos. You inspire my family so much.
Thank you!
Those oatmeal packets look delicious! You have inspired me to start making these and experimenting with different flavors. Thank you for including the recipes in the description. I have made granola and baked oatmeal before but the pumpkin one you made looks yummy.
Yeah thank you.
Is it the regular powder azure milk or the instant azure powder milk? I have both. Thanks. Love this!
I have low fat regular. But thought next time I’ll get cream or whole milk. I don’t see much of a difference.
Interesting video I can see how I can do to change to gluten free and sugar free substitutes . I have gluten free oatmeal . I will do this . ❤ thank you😊💕💜💐🙏🙏🕊🇨🇦🇨🇦
That’s amazing
I have all the ingredients to do this, so I will be doing the prep this week. Thank you. What a great idea. Store-bought is filled with sugar, so it's great you can do your own variation how your family wants it. Thank you.
That’s great!
Thanks for sharing I love oatmeal just couldn’t figure out how to make my own. I will be trying your recipes.
Yeah that’s exciting
So thankful for this video! Oatmeal is my absolute favorite food! Yummy 🤤 😋
Yeah thank you
Thank you so much for the recipes for all of these! Even though it is just me, I would love the prepackaged oatmeal breakfast bags! I like to have granola on hand with yogurt! Overnight oats in the frig would be great also! Yes, people need to THINK before they make comments. Love your channel, Jessica. Don't let those comments bring you down. You are doing so much to help people use their pantry goods.
That’s so great and you should do it for just you! You know why…. Because you deserve good food too!
Your smart. And that’s an amazing idea I will be doing. I’m also sorry you feel you need to explain, they need to mind there own business. Love learning from you! Thank You.
It’s ok thank you. I just want others to understand if they do it this way how much they will be consuming
Hi Jessica, I love 'porridge' as we call it in the uk. I used it like you do, and hasn't the price gone up!? LOve the way you have bagged it all up... i tend to make overnight oats which my son loves. Thank you. Was the other dish similar to flapjacks? the granola looked yumm too. thank you for sharing.
Oh yeah that’s perfect
Just had to come back here and comment. Normally, I don’t cook oatmeal. I can’t handle the texture and it’s a personal issue. 🤣 But, I just made some of these instant packets up for my husband and he is raving abt it! I used 1.5 Tb of brown sugar and he said it’s perfect don’t change a thing! Thank you! You are fun to watch. Here in Kodiak!
Wow seriously that is an amazing compliment!
My hubby and I are both low carbing it [because of Diabetes], so I make up special "n'oatmeal" packets, using almond flour, ground flax, and other grain-free fillers. I once saw a pre-made box of the type of oatmeal I make, and was shocked to see it was upwards of $7-ish...it's probably more by now! What a blessing it is to know how to cook, otherwise we wouldn't be able to enjoy many of our favorite foods. Just found your channel today and subbed right away! Great video : )
That’s great! Thank you for watching
I loved it when you pulled those eggs out of your apron! 🥰 Thank you for this video. We live overseas where instant oatmeal is 50c a packet, so this is so helpful. Thanks!
Wow that’s good. Oh lol my egg pocket
I love your apron !! You should never have to explain yourself to anyone !!
Thank you.
Thanks for sharing the oatmeal recipes . We are trying both.
Yeah!
Loved the video. New subscriber. I like that I can actually follow you. So many of the ladies go so fast, you can’t really see what they are doing. I am retired and 70 years old but I still preserve lots and prep things for my hubby and I.
That’s amazing. Welcome
The granola you made, do you think you could add milk.. and make it a cereal? I buy honey oat cereal and I like it.. just wondering if you think it would be just as good if I make my own..
Yes! That’s exactly what wyatt does. Or you can take it dry or put it on yoghurt anyway you want
Hi again I just wanted you to know that I really appreciate your concern for others thank you. For goodness sake you live in Alaska 😊
Thank you!
The instant oatmeal packets look amazing! I will definitely be making those soon. Thank you!
We don't have a microwave, would they work the same time wise with hot water added?
Yeah just boil the water and let the oatmeal sit. Otherwise my daughter dumps it into the boiling water and stirs it in low for a min. Stovetop
Thank you so much for this everything looks yummy and it was 60 bags
Yeah thank you
I’ll bring the orange juice, coffee and you set the table with your choice of any of your amazing oaty delights!! I do request we visit in the dining room so I can see the lake!! Hey a girl has to dream! My largest and closest body of water is our filled jet tub!!
Until tomorrow, I love you kiddo and appreciate your content. ❤️ Momma G
Amen and amen! Let’s just sit!
Whats the difference between rolled oats and instant oats? Here we can buy fine oats and coarse oats. Hello from denmark.
I’m guessing coarse maybe? World be alike. The quick cook here are super broken down nearly powder. And they become mush very quickly. It truly does not matter what oat you use. It’s a texture thing as to what you like to eat.
The cherry n dark chocolate is my favorite! Yummy
I agree!
You did a video about stocking the pantry first with herbs and spices. It really resonates with me. You always hear that spices go bad quick so only buy a little at a time but I thought if you store it correctly you should be ok so I bought 500g bags (uk we don’t have anything like azure) I’ve then to go on to buy a couple of pounds of different types of dried beans as I really understood what you were saying about it’s the herbs and spices that turn a very basic item into something delicious. In times of difficulties you can still eat like kings of you have the ingredients to elevate the ordinary to the extraordinary. Thank you
See I can just repeat you! This is exactly what I get at! The most overlooked understocked item in a long pantry. Biggest difference!
Your gonna laugh, I also order from Azure and made sure I got all the ingredients for the “instant” oatmeal packets this past month and made up a handful of breakfast oatmeal. It is seriously SO GOOD that I look at those packets on the counter and can hardly wait for breakfast to roll around every day. I have added a spoonful of either collagen or protein powder to mine to give me a little more protein in the morning but the plain with blueberry is my favorite so far.
I seriously love this! We have already ate 1/2 of them! Caleb and Kodie take them to work so much! It’s so easy but man they are filling!
You have perfected the way you prepare foods for your family- if you ever want to have a side income you would do very well with food storage catering!!! I would hire you to come over & help me since I am unable to work In the kitchen!!! 💜
Lol I would actually love todo that!
I have binged watched your channel since I found you last week...we just bought a house after the r v, for the life of me I cannot find where you got the island light. (I need that in my life). Love this video...hubby eats oatmeal at least once a week.
See if this link works I got the 3 light and the matching single one in the breakfast area. www.etsy.com/listing/588045728/repurposed-vintage-chicken-feeder-light?click_key=577c8af5b8645c7eccf4d0c56a1c3b324bf84852%3A588045728&click_sum=40d15545&ref=shop_home_feat_2
I just put the baked oatmeal in oven. Seems a bit watery. Is it 4 cups of milk like on the video or 2 cups on your description?
Oh my good need does the video say 4 cups! I’m so sorry! Between 2-3 cups. I’m so so sorry
You’re show inspires me ? I’ve never used chia seeds and flax seeds in anything but smoothies you’ve showed me where I can use them elsewhere thanks. And then not to add till after you take out of the oven. Absolutely going to do that Also don’t worry about what people have to say negative they just don’t understand the concept of being prepared you shouldn’t have to defend yourself. You are doing a great job I look forward to your shows !
Thank you so much.
My boys loves old fashioned oats with honey. I personally don’t like honey and oatmeal gives me heartburn but I love that they love it!
🥰
Can you tell me where you got your cute little bowls that used to cook your oatmeal in? You said it had a lid I thought. You have convinced me to make our own instant oatmeal :) Thank you for sharing your videos with us!
Ahh that’s great. I’m not much help as I got them from King soopers grocery store.
I thought it was 6. But.. maybe 7. So, I’m going with 84.
Good job no matter thanks for watching.
It's just me, but I'm going to make a scaled down volume of these.
Just a note on the granola, if you are like me and only use a little at a time you can store the rest in the freezer; keeps the oils in the nuts and the coconut oil from going rancid.
I make my own greek yogurt plain in the crockpot, have it all week in the fridge. I like adding granola to it for breakfast or a late night snack too.
Thanks for recipes.
I'm a firm believer that recipes are the true gold we pass to each other!
Wow thank you so much.
Thank you Jessica! I used to make a cake with leftover cooked oatmeal haven’t made in a long time but it’s very good and moist. Those little oatmeal packs are a joke real oatmeal is like having an oatmeal cookie 🎉😊 stay safe !
Amen thank you
I made instant oat packets when I was nursing but haven’t since then. Maybe I should get to it again! One of my kids is all about oatmeal and the other isn’t, so I could easily make one portion for him that way 😊
That’s such a great idea. Thank you for watching
Great video with some great ideas. Whenever you share your life openly like this the keyboard warriors come out to play. Anyone who is paying attention would admire your well thought out pantry with your large family in Alaska heading into the winter months.
Thank you
You should skip the bowl and put it all together in the bag... It would be easier ❤️🥰
It took me a few but I realized that. Lol I’m slow sometimes
I do these, I also add hemp hearts for added protein and healthy omega fats . Usually we stick with adding cinnamon, pimpkin spice or applie pie spice, raisins, nuts, dehydrated fruit. sometimes a splash of maple syrup after it's all heated
See so many great ideas. Thank you
You made the following flavors: Plain, peaches & cream, apple cinnamon raisin, cranberry almond, dark chocolate cherry walnut, blueberry & cream.
At 12 packs each that is 72 packs of "instant" oatmeal. That's amazing!
I love that!!! That is so much oatmeal!!!
Thank you for the instant oatmeal recipes. I didn’t realize you could do that. I’m like you I don’t care for texture of instant. I will be doing this as a alternative. Love your content. Have a blessed day!
Thank you!
So incredible!!
I am going to make instant oatmeals with protein, baked oatmeal and granola!!
Why would I waste money on pre-packaged chemical filled products that I don’t even know where products are from (China, overseas) that are not regulated in processing.
Keep it up! 👍👍🤤
Yeah it’s so yummy and so filling too.
Thanks for your help Jessica & Aaron 9-24-2022👍🏽👍🏽♥️. I have Oatmeal but I like Cream of Wheat myself or Farina
Sure do exactly what works for you.
Lady you are awesome. I wish I could get my husbands to eat oats at all . See you next time.
Oh man. They are yummy stuff
Loving the Apron, thanks for sharing
Thank you so much!
Hi thank you so much for taking the time to make and share these recipes and to also type them out for us! I appreciate your efforts so much
Thank you for watching!
Ohh thanks for this! I need to do this a day this week. You’re apron is so cute too!
Thank you
This is wonderful! Thx much 💕
Thank you
I'm looking at your dog I think your dog needs to go out and go potty is at the door like Mom turn around
Lol he is so active but started running. He wants me to take him out to play.
Hi, your amazing, I just love watching you cooking 🍯🥜🌰🫐🍎🍒🍇🍑 xx 👍☺️
Yeah thank you!
Love your videos but this one will help save money at my house 🥰
Serious money!
You are on in my house everyday! I cannot wait for my first Azure order in October, because my husband and I are going to do your oatmeal packs and bake. He leaves for work at 5:00 am, so this is something he can grab and heat up at work. Thank you so much for all the time you put into doing this, you are terrific!
That is amazing I’m so happy for you too!
I've made baked oatmeal a couple of times (same recipe) and it always has an eggy sugary gloop at the bottom. Am i doing something wrong, is it a rubbish recipe or is that what baked oatmeal is like?
What oats do you use? And cut the milk in 1/2 it should cook up very much like a cake.
Love this! Thank you!
Thank you.
This was great Thanks for sharing 😀
Thank you
as always brilliant ideas, thanks
Thank you!
Love the oatmeal recipes!
Thank you
H great video! Learned so much!!
