Kodie’s snow angel was hilarious in that suit 😀. What a spectacular view with the sun outlining the trees. So much work, but it’s beautiful. How sweet of Aaron to plow out the neighbor! Y’all are the best! And, I definitely watched until the end. I only wish I could work that hard physically still. I did when I was young, especially on the farm, but not now. I was glad to see Daisy, too. I hadn’t noticed her in the last few videos and was a little worried. Have a wonderful and hopefully relaxing day!
Oh thank you so much!!! Daisy sleeps so much and that deep snow is hard on her. But she is doing good considering age and hips. She is the happiest chill dog. Never been a big player. She takes one look at the snow and is like let me in!
My daughter when she under 3 when she did that same thing to make a snow angel. The snow was that deep. I felt bad laughing, my dad laughed harder then me 😂

So much snow & it’s only December, so you know it will only pile up higher!!! I remember snows like that when I was young! We don’t get the heavy snows so much anymore! Since 1994 I only remember only 3 storms with much snow!! We have plenty of ice storms or ground blizzards though! Rest up & do t overdo it! Blessings! 💜🎄🔔
It’s crazy. It’s why I think it’s such a big deal. Our snow does not melt so much. It just piles. But let’s hope we get some unseasonal warm days. Might lesson the blow.

I live in Southern Illinois. The last time we got that much snow was in the 1970's.
Wow you know it’s a ton back to back here too. We live so close to the ocean this part doesn’t get big snows like we have had. But it’s a lesson in what to fix this summer for sure.

I spent another two good hours digging out again today. Not looking forward to tomorrows storm. I have to make a trip to the hospital for treatment Thursday morning. I'm praying for a plowed road the whole way. 😬
Oh my goodness! I do pray everything goes well. If you are near me I know you can make a request though I forgot how on the mat-su website fir roads. Maybe you say for medical reasons you need plowed they might move you up. Or that could be wishful thinking. Never hurts to try though.
@@modernhomesteadalaska unfortunately the roads were not plowed but an absolutely awesome friend of a friend saw my post on social media asking for a ride in a lifted vehicle and gave me a ride over. She happened to live close to me and worked at the other hospital near by so she dropped me off on her way to work. I love how Alaskan's help one another.

It took us over 6 hrs just to clear out our driveway. We did get 2 of our 3 cars unburied. I am with you with where to put all the snow. I live just outside of Wasilla proper. It is snowing lightly here again today the 13th. I am ready for it stop for at least a few days to catch up on getting everything cleared and kids to go back to school.
Exactly! It’s quite an accomplishment! And anchorage is not caught up or ready for another round. Our road has still not been done. It was neighbors who did ours enough to get us out. It’s crazy. Stay safe and warm too.
We know exactly what you are going through lol we live in Soldotna. The snow is up to Frank's waist. He is 81 I'm 75 and I plow with a 4 wheeler with a plow on the front. It took me about 4 hrs yesterday the plow truck came by throwing the snow back and I spent another 6 hrs today lol. But we love the snow like you do !!!!!! Hope you're having a great week. That was one of my favorite songs in children's church and yes, I chimed in 😊 It's crazy complicated to figure out what to do with the snow and think of what will happen when it melts. Oh, WOW! Here in Oklahoma, we got storms and rain. NOTHING like what you guys are dealing with! Amazing! Looks like a good leg workout just walking to the chicken coop! Kodie looked very stylish! LOL! Oh, I laughed at loud when Kodie fell back into the snow! So funny! I don't think she was expecting it to cover her up! Although Aaron spent A LOT of time, and hard work, clearing the driveway and general yard areas, I think he had fun out there. The tractor is paying for itself this winter! The trees are so very pretty with the snow and the sun shining on them! Team work makes the dream work!! You all worked so very hard to clear off the snow. What a huge dump of snow!! Wow!! I lived in a place in the rocky mountains that had snow for 6+ months a year... I was fortunate enough to only experience a storm like this a few times. Aaron ... you did an amazing job!! 👏 Thank you for taking care of your neighbor as well. I spent most of this vlog laughing at Kodies suit, Berto bounding along in the snow, Tipper following his paths and the snowblower antics...lol. best of all was Kodies backwards fall....lol. Thank you. We do use the garage more now. At the time of this we use the garage to build everything and store….. you get it, moving and having no out building or a shop made the garage the space we had to use for all that. Now for the first time ever our garage is clean enough we can actually pull stuff in and change oil work on our vehicles, still don’t park in it though. It’s a question we even ask ourselves. However at the time of this video we couldn’t even pull something into it

You are so fortunate that your boys and Hubby can just jump right in there, and work most of the day, and get you dug out. That amount of snow, is kinda what it used to be like in the 40's, here in Maine. But, times have changed, and we do not get that amount in a year, now. People will call it global warming..........I don't know. Oh well, I am glad you are keeping warm, since you are allergic to the cold. Keep wrapped up! Oh wow! It’s actually more standing snow right now then most who have lived here have ever had in this part of Alaska. So we are bracing for the more. It is truly shut down anchorage and come on they are Alaskans prepared for this. Most folks are stuck at home. I’ll pray that water you are faces stays low! I personally hate flooding.
How do your neighbors do during a heavy snow like this?
I’d be cooking a big pot of bone broth on the basement stove and some tea for those outside and don’t want o take their coveralls off. Warms you up…..

We’re suppose to get an inch of rain and get colder…I’m loving the 45* to 50 * weather we’ve been having,,,,
D sad one good ideas. Our neighbors have lived in Alaska since birth. In fact one of them was born on the original homestead here that I’m now part of. I don’t know what happened but they have a plow truck it was not working. So we will just do it until something changes and they don’t need us.
I feel sorry to it’s just best we all pitch in and make sure they are not stranded.

Oh man! It has shut the area we are in down. The schools are still out today. So it’s been more then our area was prepared to deal with.
My biggest tip I'd give Kodie is to keep getting snow gear even though she may not spend time in the snow anymore. I didn't get any new snow pants or boots after high school because I didn't snowmobile with my parents anymore, plus I changed sizes several times. Last year when thinking about going to an interstate overpass to wave at truckers, I realized I didn't have ANYTHING to wear! My dad had my old snow suit and that would have worked but it didn't fit right. This fall I found Columbia boots $100 off and some great snow pants and really warm coat on Amazon. What used to cost $150+ each 20 years ago was just $70!
Great idea. I think we will hit the goodwill too they have had some good winter jackets too.

Had a few blizzards over the year here in WV with about 2 ft snow and now power for 24 days. Zetor 75 hp tractor cleared the snow and wood stove melted snow for water, washing up and cooking.
Oh wow! Let’s hope the power holds out. We are set up to live without but it’s just nicer with it on.
I.m from northern MN . My mom and dad used to live in Fairbanks during Koren war. It was still a territory not a state yet . Dad was stationed there. They always wanted to move back, mom loves it up there,very homesick for it. We have taken her back for a visit.

Wow, makes our pathetic 4inches of snow fall look silly after your 24inches, on the bright side your family is well prepared to deal with it, where as we rarely have snow fall in our town so nobody is prepared not even the council or highway dept. Here in the Cheltenham UK we're not used to adverse weather conditions. I was crying happy tears at Kodies antics, so funny, your all doing so well keep on smiling x
