PLOWING THE WORST SNOW EVENT OF MY CAREER. SNOWMAGEDDON.

- Опубликовано: 5 мар 2023
- Over the weekend, we got 12" of heavy wet snow, which was absolutely brutal. This snowstorm was pretty much the wildest snow event I've ever tackled, including 2" per hour rates for 4 hours straight.
The temperature was right on the freezing line, and we could see and hear thundersnow at one point. The whole plow run took 20 hours as we went out from 4pm through noon the next day, freaking wild.
The guys and I finally got everything wrapped up, even though it took plowing almost every site two if not three times. Thankfully it happened over the weekend when most of our sites were closed because it would've been game over during the weekday.

How much snow did y’all get?
Ps, pick up the new book, y’all been crushing it fr amzn.to/3IyRaog
It's been a slow first half of the season, but we have had a 4 storm blitz this week with 15 inches of Powdah on Saturday! ❄️ 💪🏽
Chicago has been a bust! We dodged this storm
About 2 weeks ago in Utah we got 24 inches in less than a 24 hour period, one of the most snows I've seen in my area
we Busted one truck today buried another and we’re still at it ! This snow is heavy!!
Love the transition from enthusiastic at the beginning to seeing your over it by the end 😂😂
Lol dude I said the SAME thing when I was done editing. I said wow, this vibe and excitement didn’t last 🤣🥹
Brian, we had 4 to 5 feet of snow here in Buffalo around Christmas and went able to plow for three days because you couldn't see. First time in my 42 years we had to use a loader to plow. These snowfalls separate the men from the boys. With that type of snow, you have to take little bites We are used that this here. For your large lots always plow with two trucks. When one gets stuck the other pulls you out. The man thing is don't stress out.
That was not fun! I’m from Buffalo also, thankfully I was able to clear my driveways with my truck
I live in Niagara Falls ontario across the border from Buffalo. That storm was fuckin brutal!
We drove to buffalo from Rochester to help everyone out 10 trucks wide plowing the highway and some main roads only could push a 1/4 and let the other truck do the same etc. Even brought some small loaders to help do peoples driveways my childhood friend was on the news about all this and the donations we sent to the church
Snowplowing and removal isn't hard. Stop making it sound like it's some impossible rocket science.
@@Asymmetrical-Saggin You are absolutely right it is not rocket science. But staying up all night or going 24 hours without any sleep it's not fun. Hoping and praying your workers doesn't hit somebody or something. Dealing with breakdowns Is and traffic during the day. Then waiting for the slow customers to pay. But it is stressful I know I've been doing it for 42 years.
Just picked up my first plow truck! Watching as many videos as I can, you can never be too prepared!
Great job Brian, Ryan, Mark, and Rob! While you guys were plowing snow, here in NC we've had an early spring and to date I've mowed my yard 3 times already. Two of those were in late February! Never cut grass ever before in February. Crazy!
We got the exact storm in Toronto. We plow mostly commercial but a few houses. Back dragging that wet heavy snow was treacherous.
You are a stud. I admire your wife and the understanding that she has so that you can go out there plow the long hours that you do. Best of luck this upcoming mowing season. I am going to do a equipment review soon on my channel. I am anxious to run my new 54 inch Spartan mower. Got it in January, watch for the review and I will give details on how I got it.
This one we totally missed in Traverse City and thankfully we did! Can’t wait to hear about the snowpower plow
Beast of a truck. Ty for sharing the vid.
Oh cool. I grew up (5 yrs old to 15 yrs) in Canton MI. Novi wasn't too far away. I remember the big sledding hill near the old Horse Race Track in Northville MI. I remember the apple orchards were incredible too, fresh cidar & sugar donuts. I don't miss the horrendous roads but the trips to the U.P. & the massive piles of snow pops used to make with the tractor we had on the land were super memorable too. Cool channel man, you triggered some 18 year old memories. I'm checking out these plow videos looking to learn a thing or 2.
Looks like fun 😊
Love the videos!!!
Thanks man
Great video n are Super Duty great plow trucks
That amount of snow is wild!!! Dented trucks are part of plowing from time to time but its still frustrating when it happens. Sorry about your truck. Be safe and get some sleep when you can.
Good video Brian. You guys def got hammered. I miss plowing up in Jersey. Instead, we've been cutting since Valentines day in 85° down here in Florida.. So I'll admire from a distance 🤣
God bless bro
Love ur vibe brother !
Appreciate that
We got 25-30 cm here in Toronto of the wettest, heaviest snow. 7 guys to clear 88 residentials with blowers and shovels. 3 of us went 25 hours straight man.
Great work!
Great video. Watched it will having a dinner break from reading your awesome book.
Hey thanks Kyle!
Great video Brian. It happens to all of us from time to time. Ding on the truck sucks, but it happens. Find yourself a good body shop guy that can fix it for cheap.
Beautiful trucks!
Great video we haven’t gotten any snow here in North Carolina luckily glad we don’t get snow
Heads up Bri, it sucks (especially on a new truck) but it could have been worse & you live to plow another day!
Man that is one heck of a storm. We got 1.5” but not much stuck to pavement in NJ. Enough to salt. Bummer about the truck. I put a nice dent in my bed a week ago. I was glad it wasn’t anything to slow me down but it stinks. I pulled it out and did some touch up paint so I dont hate myself too much when I walk by. I dont want to pay for body work on this thing, its going on 4 years old and the bed has a little rust from me running an in bed salter, so I may get an aluminum flat bed put on the truck since it has 35k miles. Have the Denali dream, but just happy to be alive and rolling in my WT. Congrats on the book!
Need to get a set bfg ko2 ford your plow trucks, these are excellent snow tires. Great video, looks like alot of snow in a short amount of time.
Loved it
Hey bryan lawn maintenance u put out the best content u definitely my favorite RUclipsr i got 2 to 6 inch of snow in Canada for plowing snow keep up the great work Bryan u going to use both trailer for this lawn care season
Thanks man!
@@BriansLawnMaintenance u are awesome RUclipsr Bryan
Nice, snow tires would help. But that wet snow is a struggle either way. Awsome videos.
There’s no comparison. That v-plow doesn’t even come close to pushing as much snow as that snow power. Very impressive
Great video
Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 got 12 plus inches of snow.
Your so lucky we haven't had enough snow to plow all winter here in Danville pa.
I’m in Vermont. And we had the same stuff, started out fluffy and awesome. Then as soon as stuff get touched it turned to heavy stuff. We got through it. Got stuck a couple of times but we at 802 Dirt works made it through. You got this my friend!
💯💯💯
That, x8 was the first two months of my winter.
Got 7 inches this past storm, it was for sure heavy.
At about 10 or 11 feet on the season.
Glad you didn’t have to deal with a break down, that would have been brutal!
Peterborough Ontario we got about 10” of wet stuff. Most came in about 6 hrs. 17 1/2 hours to do my route once 😬. Like you said luckily it was a weekend!
Southern Ontario here we got 35cm from 5pm to 5am this storm definitely separated the men from the boys but thankfully man and machine came out unscathed.... great vid i need to ditch the western for a f12/14
God bless brother
I just want mowing season!!! to come, hope you are doing well.
Tons of fun around detroit... all residential. Blowers and shovels. 70 houses between 4 people as 2 didnt show
Love watching plowing videos Brian. If you get a chance sometime you should go live plowing this year or next I’m sure me and many others will watch plowing for hours 😂
Same weather as Toronto!
Dealing with wet snow is a common problem here in Alaska.. I been plowing for over 30 years in Alaska and would recommend getting a good set of tires that have some decent size lug pattern tread and let some air out of them so that you can get better traction.. So far this year we've had over 111.2 inches of snow.. Figured I'd share
Brian I would be so grateful if you made a video to help people with general pricing for residential plowing in 2023. I’m getting ready for my first winter of plowing and I’m nervous about my quotes! Much different than lawncare!
Just outside of Hamilton Ontario we got the same wet heavy snow, one of the more difficult ones for sure
Was not the biggest fan of the snowpower at first but it is really starting to grow on my seeing how high it can stack the snow. If only the entire blade could angle left or right I would be sold.
Check out the Arctic razorback
That plow moves a ton of snow! I do think there are times I would want it articulate though. Your boss would love a set of wings. Made a huge difference on my XV. I do a few large lots but also some smaller tighter commercial sites. I am in the market for a new plow. I think I'm going 8611 XLS SS and keep my V as a backup. Oh ya....I feel your pain, just did fourteen hours the other day. Snow removal sucks!! HaHa.
The november and december storms were the worst we got this year. 5ft over 3 days both storms. Novembers was heavy snow but decembers continued to snow for 7 days
Great vid, i know you like the nittos on thunder! But on your new rig you should try bfg ko2’s I love mine on my 17 f350
We got rid of the Nitto’s, we have the new Dynapro XT’s
Love when it's nuking snow like that!
15 inches of powdah from that storm here in Maine
Any ballast in rear of that rig Brian??
Can't beat a V blade in the wet heavy. We swap from Wideouts to V's depending on conditions here.
some some of that to ya boy!!! cmon homeboy 💯😂😂
🥵🥵💯💯😂😂
Bro, I think that’s me stuck at minute 11:51. Across the street. Thanks again for the help.
We haven't had snow in 3 weeks up here in Alaska. Send it up our way!!
That Snowpower MOVES some serious piles of snow. Hate to see the damage on your truck but that's how it is. It's not the first time I'm sure 😅
I'm mad. We got no snow here in the DC area. I wanted at least 2'. I love snow. We are moving into spring here.
Sorry about the truck! Been there, done that and needed a new bed twice! One years it was driver side, next year, are truck it was passenger side. Im seriously looking into a small front end loader so I quite trashing my truck.
This was a brutal storm. Half of Lansing had 4 inches the other half had 8 inches. My toro power clear pull start broke on my second to the last property. At one point it was snowing so bad I couldn’t see the road.
I thought about u while I was out plowing and that huge plow it was a hard push tuff on the trucks .
Great job plowing but just back on March 2 where I'm at in New Hampshire I had to plow 14 inches of wet snow
8-10” in Ontario, worst snow to plow in at least three years. I’m really looking forward to a complex breakdown of how you’re liking the plow.
Don’t feel to bad now I crunched the rear bumper on my 22 f250 during the Christmas storm earlier this year I was happy I didn’t damage tailgate!
We got no snow from that storm. We got hail for about 30 min and some lightning with crazy wind 40-60 in Johnson city ,NY. ONLY BEEN OUT TWICE THIS WINTER
No snow here in Bama. Just tornadoes and 80 mph gust! Y’all definitely work hard!!
Be safe!
We in mo. We Usually always get wet heavy heart attack snow especially back in the 80s lol
The sno power must suck for driveways. Great video.
Not at all actually. Scrapes down to the pavement first pass.
Plowing for that long, when you are finished, feels like you got beat up by Mike Tyson😂
All I got was 0.5 inch of snow in RI then sleet then all rain. Roads stayed wet, I’ve literally had 1.5 plowable events this year. Tuff year. I’m at 12 inches of snow for the season should be around 40”😭😭
I’m laughing respectfully from Buffalo
what strobe lights are you runnings in your side badges? definitely wanna get myself a set.
Route 1 Industries and Midwest Strobes!
Here in Utah it’s been nothing but that same heavy slop to push all winter.
It sucks but it happens with the trucks. They’re tools and you send them out to do battle sometimes they come back with scars.
The wet cement snow is definitely the worst to plow, but putting some good weight in the bed makes a huge difference.
Amen! Yeah we have around 600lbs back there still, third of a pallet left (maybe less). Probably need to load up a little more tbh.
9:50 Someone peed in that snow! LOL
10" in Ottawa Canada, 14 hour pass!
We just got 10.25 in Portland, oregon, which is unheard of here and 18 inches up the mountain where my district is. Everyone was sick so me and 2 other guys handled 250 lane miles
500 inches for the season and rapidly growing in California
Calling for 3 to 5 in on Friday here in the Ann Arbor area.
Can't wait!
Brian, how come your running in scoop mode vs wind rowing most of the time?
0 over the weekend but got a a half inch over night of really wet snow here in Southern MN
Sh*t Brian. Mowed 12 lawns in East Tennessee yesterday.
Minneapolis is sitting at 78" for the season. Up +40" from average...with another 5"-8" on the way from Wednesday-Saturday. The one year i did not put a plow on my truck...and I'm regretting it.
Awesome video coverage! I will say though, towing out from the ball hitch can be dangerous and even deadly. Saw a video from I forget who that the hitch ball broke off sending it into the windshield of the stuck driver. Killed instantly. I know it was hitch to hitch in this case, but still, just the fact that something can happen!!!! Stay safe out there bro!
Yeah you’re not wrong. That is why we always pull behind. I’ve seen those same videos and always try to be smart about it.
Yeah here in Nova Scotia Canada. We ended up with like 3 and a 1/2 inches. I do that storm anyways anyways. Yeah be interesting to see the reviews on the snow. Push your room and the bed blade myself iromyself I run a 7 and a 1/2 foot boss. Polyte straightblade on a note 5 Dodge ram 1500 wish I had a 2500. I'm looking and I understand your paying. I took out my bumperfect and taillight that's winter as well
Hey Brian,
The stock tire on the truck suck in snow. You need to upgrade to a better winter tire to get through the snow. Good luck
There's no tire that would've gripped better in these conditions man.
Try Nokia hakapolita tires they are great in the snow and all around. Have run them on my trucks for the past two years. Best snow tire out there
We got 9 inch in Jackson Michigan. We ran for 20 straight hrs.
I’m not a Ford guy at all… BUT you have those two trucks lookin pretty dope…
When I stop and eat during plowing it’s a kwik trip cheese burger… livin large with steak and lobster at Brian’s!!!
That F14 is the boss for big parking lots 💪💪
Dude the productivity is insane!
Hey Bri, Brian what motor do u have in the new truck u have to 6.2 in the old right how is the new one
7.3 in the new truck 6.2 in Thundah
Im watching you plow and where you put the snow in the back - Sherwin Williams AT&T lot - near the dumpsters, what if you tried to push the snow to the backside, instead of near the dumpsters, Or push the snow from that side of the building out ward? just a small suggestion on moving faster thru snow removal
Great suggestion. Typically we have cars parked on the back row so every time we plow but that’s not a bad approach moving forward!
Hey I was wondering do you guys Mount the controllers on the dash. I just got back into the game and I used to have a western joystick on the left side of dash. I now have a western with the handheld controller on the right side and it feels awkward. I got to keep setting it down to put the truck in reverse.
Just curious if anybody has mounted them on the dash and use them that way
Flint town 8” HATED IT!!!
Yowza!
I plow two times this winter in bellville Ohio and last winter two time and the year before maybe 3 times
The real wide plow in heavy wet snow is brutal on the truck a lot of weight to push
How Côme you guy don’t use a Kubota L6060? Do you usually get this much snow?
This video just popped up on my RUclips and I was thinking wow this looks so familiar, my work is 2 buildings north lol
Dude that's awesome! We plowed that site too if it's the ones with the silo's out back!
10 inches here in southern ontario canada.
Heavy wet stuff.
Im a Buffalo contractor who has had to deal with 2 50 inch plus events this year. Under 2 ft is manageable
It drizzled for about 15 minutes north of chicago where I live.. so much for the 8 inches the weather report was saying in the days leading up to the snow 😂. How did the snowblower belts hold up in that slop? I know mine would have been stretching and breaking in that snow
Thankfully they did well!
When the storm came through Alberta on its way east/south we got 10-14” in a dirty big hurry
North of Edmonton we had 3 to 4 inches. Total on ground now about 8 at the most. Had lots of melting.
We got 8 or so in Vermont but it wasn’t as wet as that. I’m curious on your review of the v plow or the snow power. Maybe get some thoughts from bedell
If he runs wide outs or the ext
I'll have a review coming early next week!
@@BriansLawnMaintenance sounds good! I have a 8.6 fisher v plow. Works great but needs to be something better that can stack high snow banks
We have not had any snow for 2 weeks here in Colorado
12 inches in Toronto Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
