    This rare $2,000 Block lets you use all the plentiful and inexpensive small block Chevy parts lol

      I was about to say SBC's and parts are expensive nowadays. That dude just talking out of his ass.

    Why? Go LS or go SBC - life and parts cost will be much easier to handle...

    I don't get the point. Why not just get a 4-bolt SBC block and call it a day if you're worried about fitment? There are lots of head options for the SBC and you can make really good power with them. And as someone said below, you can buy a lot of custom oil pans, motor mounts and cross member modification for $2100 and just drop in an actual LS which is a stronger block design, with no issues getting weird internals that won't fit in any other SBC or LS setup. And let's face it, nobody who's putting in an LS really wants to run the old transmissions either, because they suck too.

      +blitz krieg either way you look at its still pointless, like already stated your going from a 6 bolt main to a 4 bolt... that along with the design and flow of the heads is one of the ls's trademark features for durability and strength and efficiency. buying the block in this video is a completely unnecessary waste of money considering all the ls mounts and pans on the market today that solve any clearance issues...so basically your gona spend an astronomical amount of money on an inferior block that will eventually subside to the typical oil seaping problems that the sb's are plagued by

      Bill Bradsky uh? the sbc bottom end actually is a stronger design for cast iron the ls is designed around aluminum im sorry old trans suck how come almost all drags cars run a gm th400 or powerglide damn man your a idoit

    • @billbradsky7354
      @billbradsky7354 7 лет назад +3

      jdr ok
      The truck "LS" motors are pretty much identical to the cast aluminum LS, they come in cast iron and they're even stronger than the aluminum LS. Same head options as the LS though, so same power potential using factory junkyard parts. I'm sorry, but a 3rd gen small block truck motor (iron that is) is much stronger than even a 4-bolt SBC, and even the aluminum cast blocks are comparably strong (maybe stronger) than an iron 4-bolt. And I'm talking about factory stock here, meaning your 4-bolt block is a unicorn and you may as well go aftermarket at that point because you're generally stuck with 2-bolt main stuff in junkyards.
      If you're going full race 1/4 mile stuff, TH400 or 2-speed Powerglide works fine. But you probably didn't know they're easily adaptable to an LS with a custom converter or flexplate (which you'll probably want a high stall converter anyway, so no extra cost there). If you want to go with a handling car and a manual (most would want this for a track car), the modern overdrive transmissions are way better, especially if you want to drive them on the street regularly, and they bolt right up with no modifications at all. I'm sure others who read your comment will know who the idiot is.

      *****
      Yeah, the splayed caps are pretty strong. I'd be interested to see which ones let loose first too. I'm still leaning toward the LS style because of the cross bolting and the block material then acting like a girdle because it envelops the entire main cap assembly.

      Bill Bradsky on the cast ls part they live a lot because of the fi and less weight on the pistons but the ls thrives on aluminum better the sbc can but has its own issues im a sbc guy because the sound is just orgasmic the bbc and w block are just life and the ls is meh the lt5 tho best sounding dohc motor in existence

    So do you have to use 15 degree pistons to work with the ls heads or regular 23 degree pistons?

    Nice but $2100 buys a lot of custom oil pans.

      yeah but you'll spend about 1500$ more to get heads that flow like decent LS heads for an SBC. The only SBC heads i've seen touch nice LS heads 18* heads, that cost in excess of 3000$ I think i prefer the LS Next block from dart anyway.. This seems silly to use SBC crank though, as stock LS cranks can already take more power than you can get NA without going to like 16:1 and boring it and then stroking it past square...

    • @unprecident
      @unprecident 7 лет назад

      He meant custom oil pans for an LS that a SBC would've originally been in, not the other way around.

      and crossmembers,and revised harnesses,and accesories and special mounts and other bullshit i dont want to deal with that cost more than $2000

      @@eianwahgener7623 9 years later there’s plenty of 23° small block Chevy heads will outflow any stock LS head. Technology has also following the GEN 1 SBC they’re both 4.400 bore spacing , both engines will make the same power. What they’re not telling you in this video the reason why to use a SBC bottom end with LS heads ,,, the stock LS skirted block along with the cross bolt main caps cause a lot of windage problems.

    Those valley cover plates are never available which makes the $4,000 block useless.

  • @juiced71

    Special this special that you need this and you need that and the price tag on this block? Nowa days they make motor mounts and pans aren't a problem just grab a ls block and call it a day ! Too much money for a block that you need to spend to much money on special parts to make it work ! Wouldn't be bad if you could get this block for a grand but 1800. To 2600 just isn't worth it pretty much why you don't see that many on the strips and streets

  • @stevesolo16
    @stevesolo16 7 лет назад

    What about push rods? That was an issue with a SBC. I really like the Hybrid block. I heard windage is an issue. PBM and other companies supply an appropriate pan set up. I am not so sure the LS block is stronger. This block has been heavily strengthened. I'd love to build a full race NA motor to see what we can get out of these motors!

      Hey Steve I'm all in for the hybrid deal the problem I'm having is trying to justify 3300 clams for cast iron SBC ????????????? So before I get any heads on the motor I'm into this for Cast iron SBC for nearly 10 fucking Gs bro ? Are you on some new kind of designer drug ?

      @trillrifaxegrindor4411 4 года назад

      they are regular sbc accesories,ive got 3 serpentine belt setups that would work with this in my garage and 2-3 other older setups that would work

    • @jeanfranco9354
      @jeanfranco9354 4 года назад +1

      trillrif axegrindor yeah to the small block part of it but what about the LS head that the motor takes yeah a old setup that bolts on to the block only but even on them you need it to bolt on to exhaust manifold even they admit you need a front head adapter for Accessory like AC power steering

  • @curlynigero6417

    It's not a 6bolt main like a ls so it's not as strong as an ls
