I really want to take the time to say how much I am appreciating your videos! You're always so detailed and helpful. I am very new in the candle making community and in the beginning stages of starting my own candle business so keep the videos coming for newbies like myself please and thanks in advance! You just answered alot of my questions, but would like to ask what if I want to use templates from canvas or online labels to create my logo. Can I legally create and use those even though many others may have already created their business possibly with that same template? I know this may be a very dumb question but I want to make sure I do everything the right way. Thanks!

Thank you so much for the positive feedback!
As for your question... reading templates is totally fine as they are open access and available to use to Canva customers. That being said, I would still customize to your brand. Make it you!

I grew up in the Caribbean (Trinidad). Last year, my grandma passed, and unfortunately, I couldn't attend her funeral because of Covid-19. When I made my tester candle of CS Honeysuckle Jasmine, my grandmother came to mind, spending holidays at her home, I call it Paradise.

Great video! I am currently in the process of naming some new scents and this video is helpful. I have created a "Candle Bar" concept therefore my candle names are themed around cocktail names and also adding in just some fun names. I have The Hangover, Back Road Rambler, Call Me Old Fashioned, Suds"N"Duds, Baja Blast just to name a few. It has been fun coming up with names!

I typically close my eyes, take a whiff of the scent...and come up with a name by whatever thought is accompanied with that scent. Examples: Gentleman’s Parlour, Lady’s Parlour, A Calm Heart. I really enjoy the scent-naming process.

I’ve been smelling the oils and naming the candles by the thought that come to mind. I chose the colors this way also. I have a pineapple and coconut fo which I called Pineapple Paradise and it’s a bright yellow color. However I have not checked to see if the name has already been used. I’m based in the Uk 🇬🇧 and I’m not aware of copyright for candle names. I will be looking into this now. Thank you 🙏🏽 Wade

I create my fragrances for specific events (ie. Summer Solstice, etc) so the names that I create are special to that event or time. That being said, I try to not to limit myself to only using those fragrances during those times or events, so the names are also versatile. For example, my candles named Butterfly Kisses is centered around Summer Solstice and the releasing of butterflies in June. But the name also signifies it could be used during spring months. So I guess you could say I take a two part approach to naming my candles.

@@BlackTieBarn considering getting a gallon of lavender and putting out candles with different strengths. I made a candle with 8% fragrance and upon burning the candle it put me to sleep. My opinion would be that any stronger may have an undesirable result. A 6% fragrance is enough to freshen the air and 8% or more was enough to cause drowsiness. I understand lavender is pretty popular.

Most of the time no. The only ones are names that have been around so long they have become public domain or eminent domain. You may Google those terms a bit more to learn more about them. But basically, there is a length of time certain things can be protected. After that time they can be used by others. I'd definitely ask a professional before using one. Can easily lead to cease and desist letters and more.

Great question. You really don't need candle co in the name. But if you everything you sell is stuff you've mace, you could do Brian's Handcrafted for example
