      I don't understand, in that case shouldn't the wicks come with the description i, shouldn't be them testing that? It's a waste of money and time, a lot of money... So I don't understand so many wicks, but they not test9, so how do I know what they good for?? How can you buy the right one? If they don't say where to usr them!!
      So they have no control the quality of wicks and what product to use with it?
      Your information can't be accurate unless you tell me exactly the wax to use with specific wick... I'm making a war against wicks makers they need to take responsibility for they product!!
      I don't even want to try the wood ones 🙄 more problems less money

    Last night I had a meltdown, me and not my candles, 🤪😅 with some wicks coming loose out from the base in a 3 wick vessel after having poured my wax! Had to quickly pour out the wax back into the pouring pitcher, back on the heat, and rushing to put new wicks in other vessels then pour again. Went w the premiere wicks at that point, the cdn’s coming apart at the base scared me!
    Started testing 2.5 months ago and thought I’d be done by now. Well apparently not yet! Crazy the variables affecting everything from one to the other!!!
    Sadly won’t make it in time for the holiday sales. Wish I’d started 3 months earlier! 🙃 On the positive side, I’ll def be ready by the next one!!!😅😂

    I just wanted to say thank you, Wade. I'm new to candle-making. For me, it's a hobby, and I have no intention of selling my creations. I just love candles and want to avoid spending all my money at Yankee Candle! I'm using 6006 wax and had tried a CD wick based on a guide I found on one retailer's site. I must have had the wrong size because I was getting a lot of mushrooming, and it seemed like the burn was too hot and too fast. After watching this and reading your responses to other comments, I purchased some Premier wicks, and they work so much better. This makes me very happy! I am learning so much from your great videos. Again, thank you!!! 🙂

      @@BlackTieBarn how soon should i smell the scent of a candle while burning?

    • @BlackTieBarn
      @BlackTieBarn  4 года назад +1

      @@fancymonroe9231 That is really going to depend on the wax type and the size of the jar. Large wide jars with multiple wicks you will start smelling very quickly (15 minutes or so). Small jars with one wick might take a full hour. Everything else in between. I wouldn't judge it negatively if you aren't smelling anything within in the first 30-45 minutes though.

    Hey Wade....one of the more informative wick videos I have seen. Through my journeys of using joy wax, I have found that the premier wick is one of the best. In my pillar candles I go with LX wicks which work well. Couple of points....I find that liquid dye effects the wick as well. I have switched to candlewic dyes that don’t have that turpentine smell that other manufactures have. Once again.....thank you for such an informative video on wicks.

    • @BlackTieBarn
      @BlackTieBarn  4 года назад +1

      Great tip! You are right... and not sure if I mentioned it specifically, but dye definitely can affect wicking for sure! I agree on the Premier wicks. I use them and htp exclusively with soft parasoys like joy/problend 600. Thanks for subscribing!

    Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I have experienced all the things you explained with LX wicks, using 6006 wax. The flame gets higher, and stalk gets longer....and my biggest issue is the soot. I hate the way it looks so dirty after burning! I didn't know if it was my wax or my wick. I was on the hunt to move to CD wicks because I had read another candle maker say they experienced less soot with it...but after watching your video, I am going to try to Premier 700 wicks. I'll follow up and let you know how next batch of testing goes! Thank you again for this video, can't wait to see more! I know this was posted a while ago but I wanted to provide some information about cheap wicks. I had issues with wick stickers and figured out yesterday what I was doing wrong. But I was doing a test and had already put 3 wicks in, had the wax to less than 170F and the wicks all three of them, started to float. They actually all came out of the metal holder. Cheap Amazon wicks. I’m going to crimp them all so it doesn’t happen again. Next time, I’m buying from a supplier. Thanks for the great video, lots of valuable information.
