    I'm an electrical idiot. You are a rare person who shows in plain example how to wire these switches.

    Just ordered some Toggle Switches for my truck... Switch For Subs, Switch for Cabin LEDs and Dwitch for Light Bars. The switches are supposed to shine Blue when turned on but I didn't understand the Three Prong situation... now that you played it out it makes sense, pretty basic. Kind of feel like an idiot at this point. I appreciate you making the video man, I should have known this info though lol 🙄. Thanks! 🤟🇨🇦

    Great Video. I have watched several on this subject and this is the best by far. I did not know the last wire was optional and only was there for the switch light.

    I have a led to setup my car but I noticed that other videos have a relay. What’s the relay for? This video didn’t need a relay.

    • @Ripsky
      @Ripsky  6 месяцев назад +3

      this led light is only about 20 watts anything over like a 35 or 40 watt light i would probably use a relay. a relay will protect your wiring and switch from overheating and possibly catching on fire. if you do any wiring and you notice your wires getting really hot your either going to need a lot thicker wire or a relay.

    I’m new to working with electrical stuff so forgive me for asking but if I wanted to run some auxiliary lights in a car and I wanted to add a switch to turn them off and on could I just add a switch to a fuse tap then wire the lights to the switch ?
    I’m trying to watch videos to see if that’s what people are doing but I’m only seeing videos about people shooting wires from the switch straight to the battery?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks brother 🤙🏽

    You have any video installing 2 Led bars to that same switch?

  • @DarkKent

    Great vid. Very informative. Is there any way to wire it to only close a circuit without sending power to the circuit. While retaining the indicator light? Or is there a switch with led indicator the doesn’t send power through the connected circuit??? Help pleasssssse

      @DarkKent did you get your answer somewhere else? Im struggling with similar. Im trying to use this same 3 pole switch on the ground side of a circuit. (similar to how one might install a 2 pole switch that doesn't have an led indicator). I too want the led illuminated when switch is on (when the circuit is live). I tried using the supply & ground poles on the switch which did illuminate the led, but did not fire up my device (a relay). Then I tried using the supply & load poles on the switch which did trip the relay but did not illuminate the led. Also tried grounding both of the load & ground poles on the switch with mixed results. Not sure what is going on there. If I cant resolve this easily, Ill have to rewire the whole thing with switch on the hot side of the relay.

      @@DarkKent Thanks for the reply. I spent so much time trying to understand why it wont work on the ground side, and I gave up on that. I've learned now tho, that the 3 pole switch needs to be wired on the positive side of your device. I spent nearly an entire day rewiring it to get it to light up lol.

    • @Ripsky

      the wire would probably burn out before the fuse. the fuse is just there to blow before your wire does.

    uh so not for a car application, unless you're using a battery pack? or you want to run a wire through the firewall and all the way to the car battery.for a simple LED light. there has to be a wire under the dash you can use ?? that's what I was hoiping for anyway.
