  • @rosswines

    Well done. Nice and simple explanation. For 5 stars - You might have mentioned the pin numbers that are shown on the switch . Also you might have commented that If Pins 3 (Acc) and 6 ( +ve Dash connection) are joined together then the lower "dash" light also comes on if so desired for whatever reason as well as the top switch light.

    Is there a safety cover for a rocker switch? When my Lab rides in the Ranger with me, he always places those large paws on the dash and thus constantly turns the 4 wheel drive to various modes. Can’t imagine that is good for the transmission. Need something to place over the switch to prevent that from happening.

    Excellent explanation of the switch. I’m using it locally as the on/off switch under my bonnet directly hooked to my battery. Problem was the light remained on and was drawing power. Removed the light switch (power from dash lights). Is this setup still drawing power sitting idle or just live but not active ? Asking if this will drain my battery in the off position ? The hot + power from battery to the switch is fused correctly.

    Hi Adam. Great video, although I am knowledgeable of what you showed.
    I have the exact same 5 pin rocker switch for use on a rear work light, but to spare me running additional wires I have wired a (fused) positive to the work light, then the work light through the rocker switch to earth. So the switch is isolating ground.
    This works fine for the work light however the on/off icon light on the switch is reversed - when the work light is on the icon light is off and vice-versa.
    Do you know if/how to wire the switch for this configuration?
    Cheers, Dave

    • @davewain363
      @davewain363 9 месяцев назад

      I think I have it!
      Add a relay between work light and switch.
      Work light (pos) to 85 and 30.
      87 to Earth - will provide ground to lights when switched on
      86 to pos of switch (2)
      Switch (8) to Earth - will complete circuit to relay and turn icon light on
      ....Now to put that to the test tomorrow.

    I know this video is a little old but I have a quick question. How would a wire up a 12-volt device like Amber lights that work off of a wireless relay switch and also a dash flip switch. I was thinking of wiring one main wire from the device to two separate power wires one to the dash and one to the relay. Would that work. in the off chance I flip on both would that damage my lights seeing it would send 24 volts ??

      Hmmm I'm not sure about 2 wires powering the device.. I would run everything off a relay, power to device and trigger wire to switch. Best of luck 👍

    My led light bar doesn't completely turn off when i hit the off position. I believed my first switch to be defective but i ordered an aftermarket one and its still doing the same thing. Any clue what it might be?

      Are you running the load via the switch or through a relay?

      @@lovegodessmls28 you could test the switch using a test light or multimeter, switch to off and see if any power. Else could be relay. Have filmed a vid on relays how-to just editing should be out on the channel in about a week :)

    Is it the same for a 8 pin switch?

    Very good video. Question: do I have to pull power from the dash, which I think may require me to remove the dash to get to the power. Or can I tap into the power from another source (or place) which will light up the light on the toggle switch (and will be easier to get to)?

    • @VideoShowMeHow
      @VideoShowMeHow  4 года назад

      Hey 👋 Do you mean for the switch lights? If so doesn't have to be from the dash necessarily, just if you want them to light up with the rest of your dash lights it would have to be a power source on this circuit.

      If you look at you car manual book it shows fuse box diagram and show dash night time illumination fuse so best is take the the live wire for switch from wire comes back from fuse to the dash lights to your switch .
      That’s what I did and worked for me perfectly, special my car has auto day/night dashboard illumination and lights switch automatically 👌🏻

    Do you have a video wiring a 3 position rocker switch that is Off/On/On? My switch has 8 pins and both on selections will be back-lit with an led and this switch is being connected to a relay harness with 3 wires. I can't find a wiring diagram anywhere

    Hi, i need help or answer , just install one on my car with led pods, but the switch led lights staying on when the car is already off. Why is that? Or can i leave it like that or will it drain my battery overnight?

    • @VideoShowMeHow
      @VideoShowMeHow  День назад

      @@Santino-Tv For the switch led wire, use a dash light power source, easiest is to use an add-a-fuse to a circuit that only comes on when the engine is on our when your lights are on
