Dear Lord, I wish the audience would shut up! Don't they realize what a treasure it was getting to hear The Boxer live? I've been to four Mumford shows and I've never heard that song live.
Couldn't agree more, what could be so important as to miss that moment. Not to mention ruining it for everyone in earshot, and here on YT. Unbelievable.
Jerry Douglas=musical freak, living treasure, finest dobro player the planet will ever know, so awesome he found his long lost English nephews! Love it!
+OGSpaceCadet Petty awesome, ain't it, mate? Took me 3+ years to trip across this video on YT. Been a fan of Jerry Douglas for about 25 years. I've only known Mumford and Sons for a very few and love their music. What a great combination. It fits like a glove!
It's a sheer crime that so few truly recognize this song when he starts. Mumford and Sons owe so much to acts like Simon and Garfunkel, and unfortunately (it feels like) this astounding tribute went over the heads of too many modern-day listeners.
I've heard of Mumford & Sons but this is the first time I've listened to them. I'm a dobro player and Jerry Douglas is the king of the dobro. Boy have I been missing something Mumford & Sons is a great group, love the vocals and timing.
THERE ARE DOBRO PLAYERS ALL OVER , HERE AND THERE I MEAN GREAT ONES .............THEN THERES JERRY DOUGLAS IN A SETTING ALL BY HIMSELF WHAT A TALENT ,GOD RICHLY BLESSED THIS GUY ,
I couldn't agree more with this comment. I have a dobro that I pick on occasion and there is one wish all dobro players have, I think: I want to play as good as Jerry Douglas.
It's like finding buried treasure & you have to blow away the little bits of earth, raw & natural, an inconvenience, maybe, but this was the womb that held your dear treasure. As you concentrate/focus on your treasure your ears & eyes see, hear & feel more~the beauty of the soul speaks.
I WAS ONLY A COUPLE BLOCKS AWAY THAT NIGHT SO I DIDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR A TICKET YET I ENJOYED IT AT MY BALCONY WITH MY 3 YEAR OLD SON....SHOUT OUT FOR THAT NIGHTS CONCERT!!!
The Dixon Stopover was unquestionably one of the best weekends of my life. Thank you Jerry Douglas and Mumford & Sons for contributing so much to my happiness.
I was raised on all kinds of music, but i love blue grass old and new Mumford & Sons got soul in their hands , got this city girl lovin em, you go boys
Jerry always seems to know the right way to play for the right song, regardless of whether or not he had a hand in the production of it... splendid stuff by him and both pieces done really beautifully
Look up Mike Masse's cover of this. The harmonies on that will bring tears to your eyes. I love this version too, but Masse and his friend knock it out of the damn park on this song. He does a killer Scarborough Fair as well!
I like how the guys in the band are always watching Jerry to see what amazing phrase or line he's going to play next. It never fails: whenever he is playing in an ensemble like this, all eyes are on him.
it's crazy that you were as far away as you were cure you could not tell from the high quality of the video until you zoomed out. Thanks for sharing such an awesome video!!
No one in that crowd even had a clue that the resophonic Jimi Hendrix was on that stage. If you see this reply to your 3 year old comment...please check out a band on Spotify called Jack Hotel. Their reso/lap steel/Weissenborn player, Joe Salvati, is amazing.
WOW! This is just awesome, I love it! Your video is fabulous, and M&S are brilliant! Only wish that I could have been there! Thanks for sharing...God they are unreal!
The girls are talking about the shooting star that went directly over the stage right when they started playing the song. I saw it, It was pretty damn amazing. Literally was a perfect moment. I was surprised more people didn't see it at the concert. (I agree though, keep quiet and enjoy the great music)
He also played along side Tony Rice, Mark O'Conner, and Sam Bush; all amazing blue grass musicians of their time. Some of my favorites are "Nine Pound Hammer" and "White House Blues".
This is actually a really good recording, I mean, mostly those things filmed from out of the audience is filmed with a potato and the sound is crap. This is actually filmed in high quality and the sound is right in the marges. Not to mention how awesome this performance is.
For those who like Jerry Douglas' work here, he also is an adjunct member of Alison Krauss & Union Station. Picture Mumford and Sons, but with a soaring, gorgeous soprano on vocal.
Dear Lord, I wish the audience would shut up! Don't they realize what a treasure it was getting to hear The Boxer live? I've been to four Mumford shows and I've never heard that song live.
You paid a lot for the ticket, shut up and listen, lol. Chit chat after the show.
Couldn't agree more, what could be so important as to miss that moment. Not to mention ruining it for everyone in earshot, and here on YT. Unbelievable.
AlyMea and Jerry Douglas
That whole festival was so amazing. I still think about it all the time to this day

I wish I'd discovered these guys earlier; if they ever go on tour, I'm definitely going. Their live shows seem truly incredible.
ive seen them live once. The show was rather short, 1.5 hour but my god can these guys play.
It's a sheer crime that so few truly recognize this song when he starts. Mumford and Sons owe so much to acts like Simon and Garfunkel, and unfortunately (it feels like) this astounding tribute went over the heads of too many modern-day listeners.
Couldn't have said it better myself and please never forget the great performance by the Mr Jerry Douglas
Ye you have a point but lots of things go In cecels
Mumford n Sons did Simon n Gartfunkel proud x
Maybe because it isn't very good?
Nice to see talent still exists without autotune. What a breath of fresh air Mumford and sons are.
I've heard of Mumford & Sons but this is the first time I've listened to them. I'm a dobro player and Jerry Douglas is the king of the dobro. Boy have I been missing something Mumford & Sons is a great group, love the vocals and timing.
I only started loving them when I saw them live. Most surprisingly good show of my life, never stopped listening since then
Nothing ruins that talent
Awesome performance thanking them

HOW U KNOW god blessed him? maybe he just practiced his hole off when he was younger
Jerry Douglas is Hendrix in the resophonic world.
The kind of music that hits deep in your soul and makes your heart grow roots. Very special.

End of 2021 and still listen this LOVE YOU MUMFORD
Jerry Douglas! Mumford & Sons! What a combo!
I WAS ONLY A COUPLE BLOCKS AWAY THAT NIGHT SO I DIDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR A TICKET YET I ENJOYED IT AT MY BALCONY WITH MY 3 YEAR OLD SON....SHOUT OUT FOR THAT NIGHTS CONCERT!!!
Beautiful! I toned out the audience with Marcus' voice and the excellent musicians.
Wonderful performance..absolutely loving singing Jerry Douglas and Mumdord.. best combination ever.
Love Jerry Douglas! Seen him several times with Alison Krause and Union Station.

I swear, some girls go to concerts just so they can hear themselves talk to a larger group of people.
Truth, I saw them in 2019 and had to turn and yell at a group of women to shut up. They talked the whole time, so rude.
😂😂😂 this is a fact
Please all of you re-group n come back ..nobody did anything wrong 🤗x
Such magnificent musicianship from Mr. Douglas.
Greatest night of my life and greatest rendition of Awake My Soul out there
Kudos to all the musicians but DANG! That Jerry Douglas is so full of talent on that dobro!!! Love him!
Three years ago and I find this still one of the best harmony I can find.
Look up Mike Masse's cover of this. The harmonies on that will bring tears to your eyes. I love this version too, but Masse and his friend knock it out of the damn park on this song. He does a killer Scarborough Fair as well!
Proof that I wasn't dreaming! Seriously, SUCH a wonderful show. Thank you for capturing this!

Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed it. What an awesome show.
Oh, no doubt. He's quite prolific, to the benefit of us all. Long life and health to the man.
Shame on the audience for not applauding Jerry's shit hot solo.

,marcus obviously had a blast playing with the old chap. he really smiled and claped his heart out to jerry
This was a great song for these young men. In my opinion, S&G would be quite pleased.
he's actually one of the only technical players that can convey heart notes.
Great, drunk and talking obnoxious audience. Gotta love them.
nice song❤
This is actually a really good recording, I mean, mostly those things filmed from out of the audience is filmed with a potato and the sound is crap. This is actually filmed in high quality and the sound is right in the marges.
