Chettinad is big landscape covering 96 villages/ towns. However the coverage is NICE. A Tamil film called “Kandukondain Kandukondain” was filmed in Chettinad area and chettinad houses are shown in the film.
Incredibly nice, am from Mauritius but live in the U.K. and I can tell you that there are Chettiars in Mauritius too. But they don’t have such beautiful mansions, they are just different.
For those who are not aware., The ancestors of today's Chettiars were big businessmen, ocean going , trading with various countries, like Burma, Jawa, Thailand , Vietnam, China and upto Japan. They owned huge ships, huge wealth that they even loaned some to Chola Emperor's in times of war. It is to protect their trade from pirates ,Chola kings of 12th and 13 centuries developed a Navy their own. This is perhaps is the only instance of any our ancient kingdoms had an ocean going Navy. Later on , the Marathas had a coastal Navy ofcourse.
There are very few blessed people who gets to live the life the way they want to... You are one of them ❤ I wish everyone gets a courage to choose the life they want to live..
I am from south India.. from A.P.. born and brought up in Nellore.. a border town close to Chennai … our shopping mainly used to be in Chennai… I have recently visited… ( 66 years )all these places… From BANARAS to Rameswaram… then near by Tanjavore And Vaideeswaran koil…Palani Velankanni…Madurai… Chidambaram…. Several times I have visited entire Tamilnadu and Kerala… though I live in Bangalore I have not explored Karnataka… Chettinadu is famous for non veg …recipes , sarees..and old furniture…. 8:06
Excellent vlog 👍 ... yes I admit, I didn't know that kabaddi is the state sport of TN. Thanks also for showing these places not much known to me either.
Loved the presentation. Excellent content was delivered with great enthusiasm and energy by a very articulate presenter in her very own charismatic style. Look forward to future episodes. We passed through the area and wanted to visit those famous Chettinad houses but entry to these places is so secretive and restricted as they are still owned by those private owners who don't want to publicize too much. Probably getting those houses on heritage listings and allowing guided tours would give a big boost to the area. Watching this vlog was almost like being there again.
It's really nice you showed the culture n what that place is actually famous for..it's always helpfull for a solo traveller, exactly what to see n explore.love the tile factory n the handmade tiles are beautiful..the one you made is also nice.n the chattinad saree weaving..thanks to u for incouraging us to see the other sides of towns ..
Your vlogs are BRILLIANT W/very informative trivias of the places you visit. chettinars is a culture of Tamilnadu NOT much known to the Northenrs of India. Their Chettinar non veg cuisine is a prized to the gasyronomic afficianados. Their mansions are truly unique too. Priyanka a heartfelt Gratitude for making such thoughtout & informative vlogs for ur audience. Your story telling of each place, its contribution & it's cultural offerings is AWESUM 👍🌟💙🙏❗The palace u showed us is is a piece of Vibrant Art... The architecture is full of curious details - A site & sight to absorb with deep appreciation. AND the hand made 2.3 kg Tiles and its Making is another WOW, u shared. Kabaddi state sport, fr: Tamil - now this is great to learn off 🌟👍❗ Thankyou much for this packed visual story vlog - so beautifully woven. There shld be an award for Indian Travel Vloggers w/the art of leisure story telling style. Uou for sure wld be nominated or A Winner, as one of the Travel Vloggers og India.Safe Travels. Your Chettinar cultural recording is one of your many very interesting & finer vlogs 😊🌹👍🎶🌼💖🙏❗
