Wanted to let anyone know that this does in fact work. This is indeed the most optimal way. Make sure to have your controller set flat, no vibration, and try not to move because I moved ever so slightly after checking my game and when I came back the next time I had died and lost everything over like 5+ hours... don't be me!
To add to this a slight bit, the Chocobo summon DMWs correspond to a certain character (ie: Magic Pot will change from Cissnei, etc) So if you hold off from the Ifrit mission and wait til the middle of Chapter 3 to activate Magic Pot, you'll have Cissnei's DMW, have a heightened emotion for a higher chance at Cissnei for a few fights, then subsequent rolls after the first guaranteed one will come by easier since you'll have a greater chance at landing Cissnei's slot.
for someone new to this game I'm just curious, what's the point of farming magic pot early exacly? is it to get gil early? or is it the shinra beta+ too powerful? won't we get more powerful accessories and gear as we progress the game anyway? just wanted to know what is actually the point on focusing on magic pot farm early.thanks.
I must have the worst luck in the world. I've been magic pot farming for over 20 hours and I still haven't gotten a Shinra Beta+. And I'm playing on switch and it seems that getting the Tonberry stuck does not work so I've been glued to the screen. The overpowered video said I would need it later on but it's been over 20 hours and I'm ready to call it quits. Do I REALLY need it? T-T
Same boat I've been at it for about 3 days now no shinra beta + in sight. I'm just gonna try my hand with shinra alpha and some good materia from the missions and see how it goes. This is just too rng and time consuming for me. Guide is legit tho rng aside.
It took about 24h before I got one. Looking at a post here, someone did a 120+hour farm and only got 5 of them. Despite people in the comments being lucky because it's RNG after all, they do appear to be a bit rare. If I had to do it again, I would instead use the free roll to get it and then farm the pins normally. And yes, you want it. You can probably get by without it, but if you're doing everything early, it would be very difficult to avoid OHKO limit breaks at some 4-2 missions.

I'm at the final dungeon with missions almost 100% and at no time have I ever needed 1 million gil. I only mugged holy tonberry once and have never needed millions of gil. Farming that tonberry is ok if you want more money than you will ever need, feel free if you want but there are more pressing needs than being super-overloaded with money.
I've been at the grind for a shinra beta plus for a collective 18-19 hours and nothing. I've got like 23 gold pins, a ribbon, 7 kaiser knuckles, 4 royal crowns, curaga, 2 libra, a bunch of bangels and elixirs. I'm starting to think it isn't in the cards for this run. Should I just cut my losses and proceed or is the shinra beta plus absolutely necessary to continue the early level up guide?
Seems like your other Gil farming methods are more guaranteed and probably faster, no? Is there anything other than Gil you wish to gain from this method?
Shinra Beta+ is an armor which gives 80+ vit a must have if your pushing later missions in chapter 3, and you can get elixirs and phoenix downs aswell. the gold rolling pins early are just to get about 250k to buy some early materia and accessories for pushing later stages, this is absolutely NOT a gil grinding farm
Hi, guys.. I have a question.. does the magic pot trick in FF7 Crisis Core need to be the next match made after I get Magic Pot? Or is it any match as long as I don’t finish the mission? I sometimes forget to look at it and the Tonberry kills me and I lose hours of farming. I was hoping I can kill this tonberry now and do a new encounter if it’s still the same results on another match or do I have to just milk 1 match and make sure I don’t die? I have 8 Rolling Pins now and a Shinra Beta+, Kaiser Knuckles, and I’m just checking if I should keep on going..
You can do it anywhere at any time in any chapter. The trick described here is to get Tonberry stuck to let you AFK. If you don't mind running around for hours then you can do it literally anywhere. However, the fewer summons you have, the higher chance for getting Magic Pot specifically, so it's best to do it early, when you don't have many summons.
Could it be that specific character dmw are destined to switch to a specific summon dmw? As I was lvl up Materia I witnessed that I only get the mog with two Aerith active. It is rng based but I felt it went quicker as I equiped her dmw materia aswell.
While this MAY be the best way to magic pot farm, a warning to all that magic pot farming itself is mind numbingly boring. Falling asleep mid afternoon and then waking up in a panic because the toberry finally broke free of his crystal cage to kitchen knife you. Even worse if he kills you you lose all progress. I suggest leaving the battle if you get something good!
does getting tonberry trapped work for the nintendo switch? because i swear i've got tonberry on a corner then run to the other side and he just keeps walking along the walls. i don't know if this can be done on switch

Make sure to have your controller set flat, no vibration, and try not to move because I moved ever so slightly after checking my game and when I came back the next time I had died and lost everything over like 5+ hours... don't be me!
I made the mistake of killing the master ton now it never shows up 😢
To add to this a slight bit, the Chocobo summon DMWs correspond to a certain character (ie: Magic Pot will change from Cissnei, etc) So if you hold off from the Ifrit mission and wait til the middle of Chapter 3 to activate Magic Pot, you'll have Cissnei's DMW, have a heightened emotion for a higher chance at Cissnei for a few fights, then subsequent rolls after the first guaranteed one will come by easier since you'll have a greater chance at landing Cissnei's slot.
heightened emotion only lasts for a single use, so the minute you get a cissnei DMW you lose the boosted emotion
Thanks a lot for your guides, I looking forward the trophy guides :D
for someone new to this game I'm just curious, what's the point of farming magic pot early exacly? is it to get gil early? or is it the shinra beta+ too powerful?
won't we get more powerful accessories and gear as we progress the game anyway? just wanted to know what is actually the point on focusing on magic pot farm early.thanks.
Yes
Finally doing my farm now I got 5 elixirs first go then last 6 have been duds 🤣🤣 love my rng luck
Do you need to kill Master Tonberry to keep rewards or can you just forfeit battle?
need to kill master tonberry
Hi anyone can tell me if we have to stay on the same mission to farm the items from magic pot ? Or I can do it with like mission 1 1 1?
Got golden rolling pin x5 in under 10 minutes. Going to get a lottery ticket 😂
You can probably get by without it, but if you're doing everything early, it would be very difficult to avoid OHKO limit breaks at some 4-2 missions.
tonberry can be stuck easily the other way round, same crystal, just opposite direction.
Can someone explain what exactly has to be done in order to get him stuck?
No matter what I do, it won't work....
@@kingeugene22 I got him stuck the opposite direction as well, stand where he is 13:34 (I go right in the corner where it thinks you are trying to escape) wait for him to get close enough to knife you, dodge then run to where he is at 12:42 ( again further back, stop once you get the escape notification in the corner) then once tonberry moves back towards you he gets stuck trying to get past the 'silver rock' and you are out of karma range, so you can just sit and watch TV while you wait the 20mins a shot it takes for magic pot to actually proc
@@kingeugene22 I'm starting to believe this is an internet hoax or something. I have tried all 4 corners in every way I can think of. NOTHING WORKS! I wish someone would detail exactly how to do this.
So, I’m playing the original PSP version and I CAN get out of the mission with Magic pot to go to 1-1-1 is it worth it? Is there a more effective way to do it in OG crisis core?
Hi is the zack level an issue? Because. Grows up very fast while you wait for the dmv
I'm glad you posted this. I actually did think I was doing something wrong. I'm just waiting patiently now. I am on a higher level unfortunately, but not crazy high. I'm only at like 13
Glad it was helpful!
@@Primalliquid92 RNGesus doesn't love me though. I've been at it for 4 hours now and I've only gotten 2 golden rolling pins
@@bowz_of_oshu same had like 8 rolls in 4hours but no golden pins at all yet...
@@bowz_of_oshu lucky. I'm only lvl 12 now, and it's been going for 3 hours and I haven't even got a single magic pot summon 😭
I don't have a cursed ring, how do you get it? Also, Tonberry CAN be trapped on xbox
Ive already got several items from the pot. What will happen if i abort mission, will all the items carry over?
DO NOT ABORT! I LOST EVERYTHING.
I think I’m only missing the Ribbon 🎀 from the list of items I want from this, is it worth keep trying my luck to get it? Or should I continue with my game?
Sorry just gonna call you out here...
@14:05 "You can only level up when you get three matching characters and 7,7,7"
Next roll is liturally just 7,7,7 with mismatched characters of Tseng : Sephiroth : Tseng...
And at 13:48 lol
I got shrina beta + and 5 golden rolling pens. what else should I get before clearing mission?
Damnit I'm gonna have to start all over I'm currently level 20 but didn't know about this
how high is too high level wise for this farm? I got a couple of levels while farming and am now at 18. Would that affect anything?
i have a save file with 6 rolling pins, ribbon, 2x kaiser knucks, libra. am i able to swing it without shinra beta plus?
MIND BLOWING magic POT farm *emotional* *Surprising*
Nice gambling addiction 😂🎉
I'm at the final dungeon with missions almost 100% and at no time have I ever needed 1 million gil. I only mugged holy tonberry once and have never needed millions of gil. Farming that tonberry is ok if you want more money than you will ever need, feel free if you want but there are more pressing needs than being super-overloaded with money.
the gil is EXTREMELY important if your doing a chapter 4 minerva rush
Is this impossible to do without cursed ring ?
Damn forgot to get the cursed ring early.
Never mind. Just got the beta plus to drop finally...after about 20 hours. Well at least I'm good on money for a while lol.
So the magic pot level is random as well? can i farm him in training room mission?
yes, but after the mission you have another dmw unlocked what lowers your chances to hit the pot
Im currently very late game and completed all the tonberry quests already. Am I stuck playing the game the long way now?
Seems like your other Gil farming methods are more guaranteed and probably faster, no? Is there anything other than Gil you wish to gain from this method?
Shinra Beta+ is an armor which gives 80+ vit a must have if your pushing later missions in chapter 3, and you can get elixirs and phoenix downs aswell. the gold rolling pins early are just to get about 250k to buy some early materia and accessories for pushing later stages, this is absolutely NOT a gil grinding farm
so if someone has 6 or 7 summons and just recently found magic pot then will take forever.
if you have that many summons your way past the point of this being worth doing
Shoot found this vid after getting Odin, Bahamaut and Ifrit. May try this n next playthru tho
So if already have a bunch of summons and completed missions this strat is worthless?
Could it be that specific character dmw are destined to switch to a specific summon dmw? As I was lvl up Materia I witnessed that I only get the mog with two Aerith active. It is rng based but I felt it went quicker as I equiped her dmw materia aswell.
no, anything can become anything.
Thank you!!!!
Can fight an other battle to farm the summon or only in this ONE fight?
The magic pot didn't show up. Maybe I already have too many summons :/
does getting tonberry trapped work for the nintendo switch? because i swear i've got tonberry on a corner then run to the other side and he just keeps walking along the walls. i don't know if this can be done on switch
i dont see why it shouldnt, the game is the same after all
Ye… same here. Impossible on switch…
Thanks for the guides! What would you say is the best overall materia setup?
depends on accessories but costly punch is really all thats needed aslong as you have other materia with stats on
Unfortunately I finished ifirit mission what should I do?
Has anyone got more than 2 magic pot dmws in 10-2-3? I've played 5 hours and only had 2 early on. I got 5 rolling pins (which are great) but what should I try to farm before I complete 10-2-3 and get another summon.
am 2 hours in got 6/7 magic pots
Every time I hear the outro music on your videos I get the sudden urge to play both FFIX and X... How dare you contribute to my gamer ADHD lol
mwahahaha
how do you get curse ring after you miss out in chapter 1?
The Next one you can get is at the Start of Chapter 4. In 3-1-3 you fight the Cactuar which unlocks 10-1-1. In 10-1-2 there is one you can found in the Chest.
Is 4 good?
I did everything instructed soo do I have to finish the mission to get the items or just I can quit the mission?
Is it a must to get shinra beta + because I've been farming 10+hrs just to get 5 gold pins on 3 rn but should I finish at pins or get shinra beta +?
You need the curse ring equipped?
Where do you get the curse ring?
chapter 1 keep pressing the item machine that the tutorial thing shows you, have to press it like 20 times. the machine next to the mission explainer
@@cter1234 damn well I'm way passed that! Maybe on my next run.
So, the REAL first step is to get the Curse Ring in Chapter 1. I had to start over after finding that out. Oh well, third time is the charm.
I can't get him stuff, everything else is working but he won't get stuck
I missed the lucky star materia can I still get all memories if I go afk
