Thank you so much. You gave the best advices than any of my professors at school did. God knew I needed to here it. I been out of school about 2 years by now and still looking a 3d character modeling job. Not very much success. I had oppunity do an test but didn't pass becase the facet of shoe lace of the 3d model of a styled boot. I been asking them if my portfolio look right. The answer i get it looks good but i get the feeling something off about portfolio and missing. Hearing the rejection from a company say "No" rather a "Not yet" gives me clarity what i need work on and what need to added to my portfolio. 😊
I recently discovered you with this video and let me say it's beyond great! So detailed and complete, a huge help for beginners like me. Before you showed your works i started to think something like "ok, it seems to me that this girl may be quite good at what she does, because she sounds like she really knows what she's saying" (remember i didn't know you nor your work). Then you showed your works and it was beyond impressive! No doubt you were hired with all that skill and dedication! Thank you!
Love the Creature Pack/ Still one of my favorite IMM Packs. Wish more collaborative packs like that existed. Everyone in that group of artists is so inspiring!
Great video Ana. You gave a great breakdown on what to includle/exclude on the portfolio. I'm focusing on being a 3D prop artist. What is your opinion on including my shaded models (with the final render, wireframe, and references)? Also I just checked your personal site, I saw that your 1 on 1 mentorship is sold out, I will try again soon. Cheers!
Very helpful! I have an odd question. I started my 3D career 10 years ago. I did some work on Heros of Might and Magic VI, some 3D printing work, and some teaching, and then my career took a completely different direction for a decade. Now I want to get back into 3D, and I'm wondering if I should include some of my old work as it was professional work, or exclude it because it is so outdated and just do personal work. It feels like a dilemma.
Very informative video! I just have a question, how do I look for studios? Do I just go on artstation? If I want to be a generalist in a smaller studio, how do I find those? I only know very few that I enjoy by memory
Hello, thanks a lot for those advises, very well structured and interesting. Just one question : you told about asking the mentor and professionals for reviews, but where to find a mentor and those pro connections for someone which is learning alone and don't know anybody in the field like me? Thanks again ! 😊
I would just had that I see many forum about 3D art online but I don't really see myself going out there asking random people to be my mentor.. or am I wrong?
try actively participating in discord servers and making friends. Making friends is the best way to get the right connections and help to eventually find a mentor, in my opinion.
Hi, can I ask you a question? Lately I've been trying to get a portfolio together. I'm confident enough with my modelling skills, but I'm absolutely bad at texturing and UV mapping. Generally I am bad when it comes to 2D art. Is it ok for me to just put my models with basic materials in my portfolio? It's really bothering me a lot lately since learning texturing is a whole different skill and will take a lot of time to develop.
Really an amazing class, I think I got no issue with anything mentioned in the video except with the part of looking for job positions itself as I don't live in the US and in my country the 3D art industry is incredibly closed (not to mention so tiny its close to non-existant) so I always feel discouraged to search for studios I would love to work at because my biggest obstacle is living in the wrong country. Do you have any advice to people who like me live in a different country where job oportunities technically don't exist? also I cannot "reach out to my school" because I'm entirely self-taught and I'm not sure what companies policy on remote hiring people tends to be.
I asked some years ago in a Livestream to MHTutorials3D about that basically. I am a beginner but maybe his answer is helpful to you. He was saying if i remember correctly, that i should look closer. Often people think that there is no jobs to offer, but they should look closer, thinking about who could need the problem solving from 3d artist. Basically he said nearly every company are looking for 3d art. So in my own words, you have to find it, as it's not that obvious sometimes.
I have a "portfolio" but honestly I don't really know what for... I don't think I'll try to find a 3D job in the future... For now it's just a hobby...
Bravo! Glad I encountered your channel with the algorithm managed to discover you today! I think my issue is I’m wasting too much time trying to do large projects because I feel like small projects aren’t enough
GREAT VIDEO! My favorite advice you gave was how a a rejection from a company is not necessarily a “No” but rather a “Not Yet”.

i often times get stuck doing large projects because I get sucked into the world of my creation. I have to finish it .

Muito bom Ana !! 💖💖
Haha, I see you used minecraft music in the background. Thanks Carolina, great tips.
Is blender also comes in different studios or companies to work 😅❤
Would this work for a college portfolio? Or only in an industry.

I’m a 3D Artist at 3D printing company. Problem is there not much 3D job. I ended up playing with illustator. I feel like I’m wasting my time.
I have a "portfolio" but honestly I don't really know what for... I don't think I'll try to find a 3D job in the future...
For now it's just a hobby...
Would it be more professional to make our own PDF with a breakdown?
Old works can show your progress, is that bad?
Hi! Esse vídeo ainda é atual? Muito bom.
Nice vid
❤❤❤❤
I still have my business cards from 10 years ago...haha
She is using minecraft musics. I love it
💘
Speaking of quality.. that headset is not
