Holy shishkabob, that was amazing. I tried brioche years ago, but threw my hands up thinking I'd never be able to brioche. Now, with a little more knitting understanding, along with your clear and calm teaching, I am so ready to take it on again. I watched this video, glued to my seat, as if I were watching the most riveting movie ever, hahaha! Thank you, Stephen!!! xo!
your enthusiasm while teaching is so comforting! this pattern will be my first experience making a shawl, knitting brioche, and knitting the bubble stitch! a lot of firsts but this video is instilling some much needed confidence
I jsut want to say thank you for taking the time to do this video. I have felt "limited" in my brioche when it comes to following a pattern. This will enable me to actually do it properly and learn it. Thank you! Thank you!
You Stephen are 'The Bomb' - you have such flare and genuine love for what you do, and it clear you desire that others should not just follow you parrot fashion but give vent to their own, for what of a better expression, Inner Stephen.... don't worry, we all know there's only one Stephen West.... would we want it any other way...
Thank you so much for the video. I bought a brioche and bubble kit but I don’t think I would have managed the beginning without this video 🙏🏻 and what beautiful yarn! 🧶
I just purchased your pattern and spent some time reading it as it’s my first venture into brioche and I was a little concerned. Imagine my happiness when I see your video today and now have confidence in starting this delightful project . Very excited to begin. Many thanks Stephen.
Nice clear "phrasing" in your instructions. So glad I came upon your videos. I have admired your highly imaginative design work for a long time. Best wishes for continued success!
I love watching your video instructions. I actually feel comfortable about giving brioche a try. I love the analogy of the yarn over shawl. I will always remember that!
Thank you so much! I was hoping for a video and *pling* there it was! 😄 I love how you explain every technique, you make them look so easy so that everyone can make those wonderful items. And I love listening to your voice and your little jokes in between. Never stop!
I am a new knitter and love watching your videos! You are an excellent teacher and I feel confident I can make one of your designs now just from watching you! A big THANK YOU for always showing a technique for people that have the yarn in their right hand versus their left. It is so helpful!
I'm already familiar with brioche, but listening to your comparing a sl1yo to a stitch wearing a shawl was a much needed cute mental image I needed in these stressful times
It's so fascinating to watch you!! It's relaxing!! Brioche isn't as hard as I thought it was!! I so wish I could continental knit, But my tension is way too loose (which is weird because I do crochet)...I guess I stick with english. 😟
I do have one question however. I'm left handed, a natural left hander - I know there are some people who while they write with their left hand, do things like knitting, as they were taught, right handed! I am a true left hander, and do find, a lot of patterns do not consider us and we have to make our own allowances which can take even more time! Do you have any tips to make things easier for us....were not a minority, even though it may appear so! I thank you in anticipation of your very kind help...xx
I’m a leftie and fairly new to knitting but I’ve given this a lot of thought. I follow the instructions which means I’ll get a mirror image of what a right handed person would get. On most patterns it doesn’t make a difference I guess it would be obvious on asymmetric patterns. Also when knitting shaped panels you’d probably end up with a “left” piece when following instructions for a “right” and vice versa. Hope this helps
Growing up in the 50's you were not allowed to be left handed. So I do lots of things right handed. But left hands runs in my family. Most of us are lefties....I guess I knit rt handed never knew until someone told me I was doing it wrong. 🙃
Oh wow! I love this one. I love watching your tutorial videos. It’s like a relaxation thing for me! 😂 I’ve not yet ventured into one of your patterns! There are so many to choose from! Do u have any idea of the yardage needed for the bubble rows. Was wondering if I could use some minis for this?
I'm on about my tenth try and I just can't get the 8 in a row. Sadz. At least I already know the bubble stitch because I learned that last week for a shawl I was designing before I saw yours. So if I ever get past the first section I should be ok.
It would be more fiddly, but you could do it by finishing up the row with color A. Then slipping your stitches back on the left-hand needle one by one. Then you would be ready to work the next row with color B.
honestly you should invest in an interchangeable circulars set because, unless you have giant needles and the patience to slip everything back on your other needle for the brioche parts, the amount of stitches you get as a shawl grows gets insane and it will not fit on a straight needle (+it would be heavy af and murder your wrists). just to give you an idea, a shawl i knit recently ended with almost 500 stitches and even on a one (1) metre long cord, it was c r o w d e d and had been for a while before that to begin with.
I LOVE the bubble technique ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Set up row Row #2 Next Row (WS): Using B starts at 3:36

I am also a true left handed knitter. Any tips would be much appreciated!
So far I just do things in reverse following the pattern. Lft to--->right side row Rt to lft

You make it look so easy, I am scared to try it, for I would become confused and lose track of my count

Magnifique! Please translate in french. Thank you.
It is so difficult to see the hook and yarn because of the multi-colored background and the small size of the needles and yarn.
Yes... I agree 😓
Me encantan tus tejidos!!! Te felicito!!! Lástima que estás tan lejo para hacer los cursos.

New to brioche. What is a bark yo bark? Wish that was explained a little better. 😘

AND IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A CIRCULAR NEEDLE LIKE ME HOW DO YOU DO IT OR WORK IT?

💘 💘 💘 love
I want to make mine with only seven rows of bubbles instead of eight, will my math/stitch count be all wrong?
do u have to know how to brioche knit before u do this pattern?

Did you attend Parsons?
Bonjour à vous.Si vous pouviez traduire en français s’il vous plaît merci. Merci infiniment.
Drop a stitch and pull out the row? Oh my knitting OCD!

Merci pour les explications mais ce trou au début du châle est disgracieux, dommage ❤❤❤❤❤
