This week I'm drawing directly on my 9x11 Dina Wakely gel plate with Posca Paint Pens! These paint markers are amazing, they write on any surface including glass, wood, metal, ceramic, and even the rubbery surface of your gel plate.
I'm using my Tree of Life Gustav Klimt inspired mask by Joggles as a template for my colorful Posca Pen doodling. When it's all dry, I'll show you how to coat the whole colorful mess with Golden Fluid Acrylics and pull a beautiful, colorful, whimsical print on a 9x12 sheet of rice paper.

@@ElizabethStHilaire pretty 🤩
It's a beautiful class you have done friend Elizabeth. Exciting and easy to understand.
Thanks so very much!
Amazing! 😻
@ElizabethSt.Hilare This is such a neat idea💡
It would be helpful for the viewer in advance to activate the posca before using on the gelplate if there are new viewers to the gel plate and or the posco pens or both, its a great idea on a quick mention on in directions.
The poscas can sometimes blob out the ink or to shake it and test before using on the gel plate on a separate piece of paper.
I thank you for making this tutorial and cannot wait to try with my gel pate this process.😃🎨
Thanks for the tip!

Thanks so much
WOW! So much Klimt FUN!! :) That was awesome, Elizabeth! I love this pull. I've tried using Poscas on the gel plate before and wasn't very successful - likely down to my impatience! But I'm going to give it another go. You always inspire me. Thank you so much for such a fun, colourful and joyous tutorial. SO cool! Love and Bless
Thanks Lindsey! Give it another go and allow the print to sit there a bit before you pull it, I think that's the key. :)
Me encanta lo que haces. Felicidades. Nuevo suscriptor.
Thank you!
Absolutely beautiful, fun and endless design/color options !!!
Can't wait to order some stencils and give it a go !!!

Great! I think you’ll enjoy it.
Thanks for sharing this process. Definitely going to give this a try! 😊💕
It’s fun! My pleasure
@@PumpkinPails my gel plate is permanently stained with paint, it doesn’t affect how it works at all. :)
Practical inspiration-love it. Perhaps a sign of my fading hearing, I heard "pasta" pens and was intrigued-glad I stayed to learn about Posca! All the best from Canada where post-op has me laid up with time to get really motivated. Can't wait to try these techniques in my studio. Thx!
Get well soon! Perhaps you were hungry when you were listening. :)
Love! 💕
Thanks!!!

So fun..I have a bunch of pens from my days where I drew on rocks. I live by the ocean so I can find so many beautiful rocks. But after I started to work on journals, art, fabrics, junk, mixed media etc I haven’t used them..SO I big thanks for sharing this awesome idea..
I love all your creations 😍👏👏
Tina 👩🏻🎨🌸 - from the other side of the world Denmark 🇩🇰
Thank you SO SO MUCH all the way from Denmark!!
What a great idea for these awesome stencils. I love these stencils so much I accidentally ordered duplicates 😆
Posca paint pens are great but I’m guessing any paint pen would work for this technique. I can’t wait to play with my artsy stash 🤗
Thanks so much for the stencil support! I really appreciate it. I love the Posca pens so much
Hi. I loved this technique..so beautiful 💝..
I haven't used posca pens or gel plate... thankyou..I subscribed

@@ElizabethStHilaire I’m going to do this with my great niece and nephew. They will have fun seeing their painting reappear after covering it up! I love doing art with children.
Funny I’m watching the crazy bird under painting right now.
@@bconsilio3764 they will love it! Art is a great way to connect with children.
@@bconsilio3764 thank you!
@@ElizabethStHilaire absolutely! I have forged great relationships and nieces and nephews throughout their lives through art. I’ve taken them to art classes and retreats. I have done many art projects with friends children also. As they have grown the have said‘I remember you doing art with us.’ It is a great joy to open children’s eyes to see the world around then through art. I love the freedom they have. They are not afraid to explore!
Very beautiful art my dear friend 💕 best wishes for you
Thanks so much Saad
Nice beautiful😃
Thanks!
So beautiful 👌👌👌👌❤️🌹🥰🥰🌺🌺🌺🌿🌿
Thanks so much!
I just purchased this paper and am excited about using it and trying out the Posca Pens. Beautiful print! I purchased a lot of your stencils from Joggles, gosh I love that store, but they are out of the 9x11 print. It's OK, I have another large one.
I’m glad you liked the project! Thank so much for the support
Wow I am new to gelli printing. Didn’t know you could use pasco pens. Would love to see one with Vienna or secessions stencil
Check my link below the video, they are on sale for 25% off this week. Both of those stencils would be great for the Posca markers as well!
Lush!!! 🎉
Thanks
All I can say after watching this is 'wow'. First, I would never have thought of using a paint pen on a gel plate. I haven't purchased Posca pens yet, but I'm ready to do so. Second, and most important, your ability to work with colors really inspires me. Thanks for all this!
Oh gosH I’m so glad!!! I think the link below will still give you 25%
Off. I’m so glad Barbara
I'm stocking up on all types of rice papers in case China stops shipping to the USA.
The rice paper I use is from Japan.
I was totally enthralled watching how you did this!! I didn't know about the storage tins for gelli plates before. I make my own, so I can't wait to get some for storage .WOOHOO!!! The "tree of life" is one of my favorite designs anyway, and I really like yours, for sure. Thank you! Thank you!! What do you do about the torn paper on your print?
Thanks so much! Yes the tin is great especially behind your plastic shell cracks. I tear my prints up for collage so blemishes don’t matter to me!
@@ElizabethStHilaire Makes sense!! I use mine in somewhat the same way, but mine aren't near as beautiful, so I couldn't imagine tearing them up!!🙃 I so enjoy watching you work--so confident!!
@@lindastarkey9368 you get used to it, tearing them up. I’m a full time artist so I cannot become attached to my work as it is all going to sell eventually. It’s a different mind set!
I love your tutorials and your Art. Thank you for your knowledge! As I'm watching this I noticed this was posted 6minths ago. I don't know if you will see this? I'm wondering can you use any type of art paint pens?
Hi I’m not sure, I only have Posca. Give it a try!
Yes, your work is amazing!! I bought that very rice paper but I was making a project that needed paint on both sides of the paper and had a rough time getting paint on the back side of the paper without ripping it. Have you successfully painted on both sides of that paper? Any tips? Thank you!
Yes, the Rice paper pad that I recommend is durable and you can paint both sides of it. No problem.
Since it was textured on the back side, almost like flannel, it didn’t work well for me.
@@donnacarraway9182 always use the smooth side.
Do you think the soft crayons would work, or would they shift too much with the final coat of paint?
I’m not sure, you would have to give it a try.
Thanks for this video! I tried Posca pens on my gel plate, BUT didn't wait before pulling. The pens stayed on the plate AND the paper stuck...gonna try again and wait 10 minutes.
timing is tricky depending on you climate too. Hope you are using the rice paper I recommend.
I am just learning gel printing. I was thinking about trying acrylic paint pens. I was so happy to find your video. Thanks bunches! I have a question though. Why do this? I mean why do this rather than just do this directly to paper? Are there advantages?
Because it is an indirect printing method, versus the direct printing method of the pens. Yes, there is a difference. It has any eviscerated, wood block, looking, partial print type of look. You have to try it to completely understand.
@@ElizabethStHilaire thank you for the info. I'm so excited to get started.
😀
@@thewholebucket897 awesome!
Bellissima carta!
Bellissima carta. Bravissima lei. Che cos'è l'ultimo prodotto chiaro che passa col rullo, colore acrilico o altro? Grazie. ❤❤❤❤
L’ultimo prodotto è acrilico, si. È “gel medium” mezzo gel. Prego, il mio italiano è molto molto poco!
How many did you do before you got the time down? I like that but I still have trouble Using just a white pin. I could try it with black and white and give it a go.
Ahhh I have no idea. I was in the zone. ;) Give it a try
Would other types of paint markers work? I have Arteza paint markers.
You would have to try it! I only have Posca Pens
