    Picked up one of these at a yard sale yesterday for $50. My kids are too young to put an engine on it right now, but in the future I'd like to do something like this to it.
    You should definitely make a tutorial video of this.

    I’m looking to do this myself, where did you get the cables and sprockets, did you put a centrifugal clutch on it?

    • @InTheShop
      @InTheShop  4 года назад +3

      All of the arts can be bought on amazon or ebay. I used a centrifugal clutch. #40 chain, 15 tooth sprocket on the axle. The axle is 20mm so you will have to buy a sprocket with a 3/4 bore and drill it out to 20mm.

  • @treerexaudi
    @treerexaudi Год назад

    Hello by any chance do you know how long the throttle/bike brake cable was? There seem to be a quite a few different lengths for universal fitment. 60" and 72" is two of them it looks like.

  • @joew5559
    @joew5559 Год назад

    Before you destroy those carts you should put those wheels on a lathe they will center perfectly inside a lawnmower wheel or a small tractor wheel depending on the size in the height that you pick you can get a lot of fun out of this you just Apoxsee them to the wheel itself after putting them on a lead and making them a bit smaller to fit in the hub or rim any tractor supply has them

    • @InTheShop
      @InTheShop  4 года назад +1

      Ebay or any go kart supply website. You need a 15 tooth 3/4 sprocket. The axle is 20mm so you will have to drill out the sprocket to fit over the axle.

    • @InTheShop
      @InTheShop  5 лет назад +1

      Dan P the clutch is just an eBay 3/4” clutch and the throttle is a bicycle brake lever and a length of universal bike brake cable.

    What did you use for the sprocket setup?

    • @InTheShop
      @InTheShop  4 года назад +1

      I used a 10 tooth clutch and a 15 tooth sprocket on the axle. The axle is 20mm so you need to get a 3/4 inch bore sprocket and drill the hole out to 20mm. Hopefully this helps.

  • @RUBYODOME

    I have the same one with an engine on it. I just made a dirt race track in my backyard. And I'm afraid it's too low and going to hit the chain and and sprocket. What wheels can I add that will fit. I was going to take some wheels off my lawn mower

    • @InTheShop

    In The Shop, I'm going to give you a run for your money...
    I built the same Razor kart as you have done here, Then I rolled it from decelerating, doing 20, I'm a retired mechanic and am too old and fat to be rolling anything bigger than a joint, I was humiliated and disappointed all at once, dragging my kart home...
    6 months has passed and I now possess the worlds most badass Razor Kart, Oh it's pretty, and I can hang corners like a demon,
    I successfully merged a Razor kart with vintage style race kart designs, I will post a video soon, you've been warned! 😊
    (P.S. Most of my work is because of your build!)

      Pretty straight forward and really fun. You will need a 10 tooth clutch with a #40 chain, a 15 tooth sprocket for a 3/4 shaft. you will have to drill the sprocket out to 20mm to fit over the axle. I made the motor plate with my plasma cutter but you can buy motor mounting plates on ebay or places like gopowersports.

      Lol after riding the stock razor I went ahead and bought a 212 Pred 🤣. Can you provide the link to the axle sprocket and chain setup to connect to the pred. First time working on a “kart”. Thanks bro. Btw you crazy jumping that thing lol

      The issue is the axles aren’t available anymore. Shoot me an email. I would be interested in doing something. I can dig around for options. Nathan@intheshopmedia.com

      I could have done that but I found it to be funnier and more fun to ride being tiny like it was supposed to be from the factory.

    Hey man that’s sick. I built something similar a while back with a built 212, but I couldn’t keep it from throwing the chain. Got it up to 30ish mph a few times but it was SUPER sketchy. Ended up selling it. If you go on my Instagram @_ForzaPhotography and go back to like September 2016 you can see how it looked. I don’t have a welder so I just made my own mount and bolted it to the frame.
