Add the making slightly mad. Freddie was so brave. He filmed his with one foot actually eaten away from aids, and he had special clothes mad because his skin was so sensitive. They had to use extra clothing because he was so emaciated. Freddie only lived about 6 more mo, I believe. Love to an amazing man. So much to say about him! 🎧🎤❤️
Good reaction. Hard to believe he died 9 months later. Song was written about how the HIV/AIDS medication was affecting him, always a sense a humour, brave man.
It was actually morphine for severe pain in his foot from Kaposi's lesions (and pain elsewhere in his body, as Kaposi's also attacks internal organs) that was making him "slightly mad." I saw the same thing with my sister 20 years ago when she was dying of breast cancer. Too high of a dose-- she was hallucinating but also, like Freddie, aware of it. Told me she felt like she was losing her mind. My training as a psych counselor kicked in-- I knew right away it was probably the morphine so I reported the problem to a nurse who came in and reset my sister's morphine pump to a lower dose and she was fine. And she and I got a good laugh out of it, which was a nice break from the otherwise obviously somber situation. So, yeah, Freddie's ability to maintain his sense of humor here means a lot to me.

Awesome! It has been a while. The visuals look like something Tim Burton would love! They say that Elton John was in the gorilla suit. The idea of the song was Freddie's fear of developing aids related dementia. It was "To be honest, you haven't got a clue". The thing on drummer Roger Taylor's head was a tea pot. A little tidbit, guitarist Brian May is a passionate animal rights/environment protection activist and alongside badgers, hedgehogs and foxes, penguins are among his favorite animals, so he had a blast with them in the shooting of this video. Some of the behind the scenes footage is really cute/funny. I completely agree about respecting older bands and artists! Without a doubt, Queen just the best and is timeless!

This man was brave beyond belief. He wrote and sang up to the day before he died. He was recording the day before and started getting tired.
Not quite. He had returned to London a few months before he died, when he simply was not physically able to work any longer. Still, he wirkend as long as he was at all able to and was top notch to the last.
So sad.
Did anyone notice the xray light style at the very beginning as Freddie spun in a chair like they spin blood in a centrifuge?
This song is strongly tied to his medical treatments and their effects as well as the fight against the disease and essentially waiting for that fateful day.
And like the title of the album INNUENDO there are tons of statements that are oblique allusions (hints to different meanings) facts open to interpretation. This song is so MEATY with potential discussions. I ❤ it!
When 1,001 daffodils dance in front of you - uh oh (what do you think that means). Time lapse film of a growing flower make the flower look like its dancing (noticing this in 'front' of you - oops you're dead laying in a casket facing the sky and flowers planted 6 feet above you are growing).
When the outside temperature rises, and the meaning is oh so clear.
(outside temp meaning outside your body) (temperature rises - it's not - your body is getting colder)
All these things are happening but because you think you're alive they seem off but they aren't its 'you' who is 'off'.

Not quite a Schilling (like our dollar) not 100%. If you have 96 cents you don't quite have a dollar.
The line about one wave short of a shipwreck to me let's us know just how beat up he must have felt.
If it takes 10 waves to sink a ship and Freddie is the ship he's gotten hit with 9 waves .... regains his strength and sets sail to get hit with 9 waves and so on. Sometimes you just want that 10th wave.... well not really want it but you're darn tired of the multiple 9 waves.
Many lines are the way polite society used to reference when someone was 'ill' ...not with their full mental capacity.
I'm driving with only 3 wheels these days (could mean reverting to childhood behaviors like senior citizens do or a poorly functioning 4 wheel vehicle) but most importantly to this line in the song is the next one. "But my dear, how about you" ..... I ❤ it. This says to those judging him (wait a minute you're not driving so perfectly well yourself) or simply... tsk tsk tsk don't judge others look inward.
I feel like a banana tree... could be feeling rubber or mushy on the inside or could also refer to the saying you are what you eat or if you eat one more of those you'll become one. (look at pictures throught Freddie's life - he ate bananas ALL THE TIME)
The penguin - - symbolizes the tuxedo. So men wearing tuxedos are like penguins insinuating transformation. Freddie will pass on someday soon (a transformation). Brian wearing a penguin beak and conversing with the penguin symbolizes communication can happen across different forms of existence.
I find this video VERY THERAPEUTIC especially for the bandmates. I feel it was Freddie's goodbye to them like "These Are the Days of Our Lives" was his goodbye to the fans.
My favorite parts are how he has having Roger strangling him (like survivor's guilt mad at Freddie for getting sick (why did you get yourself sick) and Freddie bending his head down so Roger could bonk him on the head as if to say 'go ahead get your frustrations out - I did this - I alone am responsible.)
Freddie knowing he was progressively losing the battle - every day wondering which would be his last - the anticipation would be 'maddening'... and with any anxiety like going to the dentist once you go you realize the worry was for nothing.
We all must die. He just had to go sooner than anyone wanted.
And his sitting amongst the daffodils and winks - it was (to me) like Freddie saying... i'll just lay/sit and watch you guys from over here.... (he's still with them just sitting out of the activities smiling and enjoying the guys just as much as ever). ❤❤❤❤
This was made about Freddie HIV and that he could go slightly mad from this disease,and they filmed it probably six months before Freddie died,and it's Dr Brian May,Roger Taylor and John Deacon

This is one of my favorite Queen videos!! I think Freddie is terrific “acting” in this video! Considering the atmosphere at this time Queen really stepped up to the plate again & again!! 💪💪 Freddie created music until he passed away in 1991. You are absolutely right .... Queen is one of the best if not the best band ever!! Hmmmm - I like bananas when they’re slightly green then after that they become banana nut bread!! 🍌🍌
Thankyou!! Freddie was already very sick here. Very good song, he discribes how he feels during his sickness and the side effects of his medications at the time if I remember correctly. I suggest Innuendo. Also a darker song, and strong lyrics. Or The Miracle, little more uplifting. I hope to see more youngman. Much bless to You!

Great song, even though it's a bit different. Probably my favorite Queen video. This song is said to be about his reaction to the medication he was taking. It made him hallucinate and stuff. I love that he was able to make fun of himself like that ❤ And that he even made a video while being in alot of pain I'm sure. They made the video black and white to try to hide that he looked ill at this point. They had to bulk him up under the suit too because he had lost alot of weight.
Oh and he says "to be honest ypu haven't got a clue"
It was also because despite being under those hot lights he was very cold due to having not much body weight
I forget her nme but she got him cashmere socks to try and make him comfortable because even wearing clothes was uncomfortable for him
I have so much respect for him he was so strong

As a lot of music, this has to be in context: At this time it was clear, that he only had a few years to live because of his AIDS. So, yea, going slightly mad is better then totaly I think. :)
