I love this song and video. When I watch and listen, I'm just glad, that Freddie had really funny lighthearted moments during his illness. The most important thing for him was being with his friends.
Freddie was in so much pain while making this video. I saw the making of it. I cried when he was crawling on the floor. By this time almost most of one foot was largely ea5en away. God bless his courage
Brian felt initial symptoms of a heart attack .. called his doctor who rushed him into hospital.... three arteries congested and in danger of blocking the supply of blood to heart. He was fitted with three stents . I dread to think what could have happened if he had been on tour ... in his case, the lockdowns may well have saved his life. ! Love your reactions 👍🎶🎶
This was near the end, obviously-- the heavy makeup and extreme weight loss like in "These Are the Days Of Our Lives." By this time Freddie had stopped taking his AIDS medications because he knew death was imminent-- he'd started medications for symptom relief, one of which was morphine for the increasing pain, especially in his deteriorating right foot. He wrote this song with his friend Peter Straker fairly quickly one night after having some episodes of hallucinating due to the opiate. My sister died of breast cancer, it'll be 20 years ago on New Year's Eve. I spent the last 2 months of her life with her in NYC where she lived and I saw, when they first put her on a morphine pump with the dose just a tad too high, she started hallucinating, so I've seen it happen; and it was odd because she kind of knew she was seeing and hearing things that weren't there-- kept insisting my first Great Dane who had died 4 years earlier was in the hospital room with us and she and I were actually laughing about it all, much like Freddie and Peter were when writing the song. In fact, Freddie's long-time personal assistant, Peter Freestone, who was one of the 3 men who took care of Freddie until his last breath, said hearing them laugh when the end was so close upset him so he went upstairs and went to bed. Of course I understand Freestone's sadness, but what I love is that Freddie was able to see the humor and laugh at the situation, even write a song and shoot a video about it. Just a remarkable man, as were/are Brian, Roger, and John-- we can all learn a lot from them. Have you done "The Show Must Go On"? If not, do it!! It's one of my top 5 Queen songs, also done just months before Freddie's death but his voice, oh my God, you won't believe how powerful and perfect his voice still was. Love your reactions and can't wait for your Queen marathon!
according to Peter Freestone and Jim Hutton Freddie stopped the AIDS medication a few weeks before he died in November. This song was released in March.
I love this song. I loved your reaction as always. For another happy song and video you should do the miracle it’s a lot of fun to watch. Thank you so much for sharing with us.❤️😀👍✌️🌼Love and peace. Edit it to say I watched your reaction to these are the days of our lives didn’t leave a comment as I was crying.❤️✌️🤗
A great one! On the Zeppelin Ramble On...I watched on Vimeo...not a harmonica...was Jimmy on the guitar. Also Mordar and Golleb were from Lord Of The Rings.
My Opinion and Interpretation = I think this was Freddie's goodbye to the band while These Are.the Days of Our Lives was his goodbye to the fans. Why say bye to the band? Survivor's guilt and healing. John/Fred interactions represented the 'play' between members - games/jesters. Roger/Fred represented anger/frustration. Roger choking Fred, bonking him on the head, Fred chasing Roger on the trike. Brian/Fred was communication and transformation. Fred trying to get his attention while Brian interested in his fingers, Brian dressed up like a penguin and Freddie's tuxedos similar to a penguin's natural look. Brian still communicating with penguin gives sense that communication with Fred will remain after he transforms from this life to the next. Medical connections= Spinning chair like a centrifuge in a blood lab. Xray light (Fred had radiation treatments). Yo-yo for up and down days. Banna Tree - medicine can make you feel mushy and/or eating lots of something they'll say you'll turn into it (humor) One-Liners = Freddie felt beat up but only to the brink of succumbing but one wave short of losing the fight so to speak. Its exhausting. Not up to par (not quite a Schilling- not quite whole or all there) Only riding on 3 wheels these days but my darling how about you (being criticized/judged but those that judge should look inward) Temperature rising outside Daffodils dance in front of you - Oh No (as in uh-oh) you've realized too late that your dead. Temp is not rising, your body is cooling (dead) Growing daffodils can look like dancing over time lapse and in front of you means you're burried 6 feet under. He's learned too late and can't undo what has been done. He takes full blame 'I've finally done it. I've gone too far' he even leans down so Roger can hit him knowing the members are angry/frustrated this has happened. Last scene is Fred amusingly sitting in his plot of daffodils and looks over at the band as if to say, 'you guys continue I'll watch from over here'. This is my all time favorite video of Freddie's. 🥰💋❤❤❤
This song came about because Freddie got to the studio first & he was sitting there for over an hour. Brian got there & Freddie said “I’m going slightly mad” behind the scene is a hoot “Roger what did you do? Look for that. The Penguins was because of Brian being such an animal lover. He founded the “Save Me” animal rescue. Glad you liked it. Have you done the” Miracle” or “Headlong” & The Invisible Man” They are really good not sad.🔥
Alright another QUEEN video. Looking forward to see your reaction. Remember FREDDIE was getting sick when they did this video. Love ya my brother. Take care my friend. QUEEN BEE.
This is a very difficult song. In this song, there are many allusions to Freddie's illness and imminent death. In the second second of the clip, Freddie appears in a medical chair, in which he is sitting cross-legged. Sitting in an armchair, Freddie sings: "When the temperature is constantly rising, And the meaning of this is so clear, One thousand and one yellow daffodils begin to dance in front of you ..." Constantly high temperature is a characteristic sign of AIDS. The yellow daffodil is a symbol of untimely death, known since antiquity. And many other hints ........
I remember back then I bought the album immediately after it came out and listened to it a lot. I thought, this is such a fun, cute song. Then a few months later Freddie died and I realized what this song was actually about. :-( They called the album Innuendo for good reason: there are so many songs which got a second darker meaning.
Everybody says this is a happy song, but I think it is very sad. Because this is at the end of his life. And he's basically telling the world good bye in his later performances. Especially in the "These Are The Days of Our Lives" video
I read a comment once that Freddie wrote this song about the effects of his illness, and his medications were making him feel like he was losing his mind. I’m not sure if that was true or not. I know the medications available at the time had pretty horrendous side effects, so maybe it was in that context, that he was going mad. Something a little more lighthearted is The Invisible Man. It’s a lot of fun,
Brian May has a big interest in wildlife - think that’s why the penguin thing. He runs a foundation called Save Me that rescues wild animals. Save Me is a Queen song. He is an amazing guy who is really passionate about so many things. He puts his money where his mouth is too. He purchased some land that was going to be developed (it’s called Brian May Wood now) for wildlife habitat. Could go on and on about him but will stop here.😊
I've heard that Brian's health journey has been rather bumpy, the healing, reactions to the medications he's had to take, etc. He did an interview a few weeks back for a youtube web show called "Life after the movies" and he talks about doing the soundtrack for the movie Flash Gordon, his love for astrophysics, health, etc. For your own enjoyment, check it out. ruclips.net/video/42rYz47438c/видео.html
Pls react to No one but you (Only the Good Die Young) With May, Deacon and Taylor. A farewell to Freddie Like your reactions, I am 70 and a great fan of Queen's. They attract all ages it seems.
Depression was another illness as a result of being sick with aids. The making of is interesting. There is a moment when roger is “practicing strangling” Freddie, John looks horrified at their antics. Brian did a really sweet birthday wish video for Freddie.
I think this vid is so sad, becouse Freddie singing about his side-effect of the medicin he was taken, his dresser told in an interview that he was so thin, and he was freesing all the time, she could only have clouth like silk or chashmir into his skin, all thing was hard for his skin. And I think this vid is very very good too, and funny in a way. This was in february 1991
I love this song and video. When I watch and listen, I'm just glad, that Freddie had really funny lighthearted moments during his illness. The most important thing for him was being with his friends.
Yes..
The making of video is also worth to watch.
I'll surely watch it!
It's amazing what queen pulled out into the world! Thanks for this reaction, I think anyone goes slightly mad from time to time 😁
True!
Great reaction. I also heard that the gorila was Elton!!!! Real funny he was such a goid friend of Freddie.
Thanks! They say there are many theories behind the Gorilla..
Freddie was in so much pain while making this video. I saw the making of it. I cried when he was crawling on the floor. By this time almost most of one foot was largely ea5en away. God bless his courage
He is the champion, my friend. He kept on fighting till the end!
Brian felt initial symptoms of a heart attack .. called his doctor who rushed him into hospital.... three arteries congested and in danger of blocking the supply of blood to heart. He was fitted with three stents .
