In a world filled with Isekai that are about as original as a Disney live action remake, Grimgar proved to be one of the few that branched out and tried something different. Therefore, I think it's pretty cool.

@@thewalkingstick6047 it must... I mean it has too it was just so balanced and one of the only anime that didn't rush the plot like the flash time traveling, like it felt real and not like just another anime
As someones who has watched and read dozens of Isekais, this is my all time favourite by far because of the realism and atmosphere it has.
I do really really hope for season 2. The third volume novel is fire!!
Where can you read the novels? I haven't been able to find anything in english.

It bogles my mind why that slime isekai got a season 2 when this didnt. I dont get how everyone loves that one when there is literally no tension or literally any stakes. While when I watched this it felt so much more real and enthralling. I couldn't stop watching and after finishing I released it was released 8 years ago and will probably never get a season 2. This saddens me to no end
We all deserved season 2!!

Wow, that's a show I haven't heard about in a long time! Damn, now I wish I had brought up Now and Then, Here and There in this video. Show seems lost to time, but really is a great comparison to Grimgar.
I just read volume 18 of the light novel, and it ended with a huge cliffhanger. Now I need to consume grimgar youtube content to stay sane until the next volume releases. The Video was really great, truly enjoyed it!

Its been 6 years since the last season came out, so I can imagine the light novels being WAY ahead of the anime in terms of story! I might have to take a look at them once I finish reading One Piece (which I estimate will be in ~4 years).

So I watched this anime like 2 months ago and I loved it so much that I got the light novels. Im on Vol 6 and it gets so much better!! They need to continue this show!!

I watched a vid about grimgar via yt recommended and I watched the anime in a day.
It has become my number 1 and is the only anime I am going to rewatch multiple times.
I wish I could buy the dvds somewhere but I haven't been able to find it anywhere.

I just rewatched it today actually, honestly one of the only Isekais I’ve ever liked. I’m normally a Isekai hater. But it felt so realistic, like everything hurt. The fact that they struggled killing the trolls lowkey messed with me. In most Isekais all the monsters are just weaklings that the hero overpowers with a godlike ability. But every move is decisive. They all have to fight like their life’s depend on it literally. It’s such a great show, and novel. All the characters have to overcome obstacles to have to get to know each other and become a better team. WE NEED A NEW SEASON

Well, it's been six years since Grimgar aired which some think means it'll never return, but that wouldn't be true as an absolute even if it debuted 10 or more years ago. Fruits Basket got a reboot and continuation through to its ultimate conclusion after 18 years (2001 to 2019). Many series have received sequels and reboots in recent times - Inuyasha, Higurashi, Bleach, etc. Kino no Tabi had a 14 year gap (2003 to 2017) between iterations, Mushishi had eight years between seasons (2006 to 2014), there have been anime adaptations of older manga from decades spanning at least from the 60s through the 80s in the past few years (Banana Fish, Dororo, etc.) so never let anyone tell you that because a certain amount of time has elapsed that makes it an impossibility. Market, demand, and sometimes some unforeseen coincidental granular factors are what determine it.
It honestly is crazy how many different anime have been getting reboots and second seasons out of nowhere. If there was ever a time for Grimgar to get a second season, it would be now! (Or maybe I'm just coping)

Man I watched this show and was blown away by the Pace but like many of the awesome anime with no second season it ended when I though the things are about to get going.
I think the reason they choose to become volunteer soldiers instead of picking up a trade is because of their personality types. They lack initiative and just go with the flow. The first people they meet lay a path out in front of them so they follow it. Even having spoken to Brittany if Manato hadn't brought everyone together I bet some of them might have eventually just gotten jobs if some other party didn't pick them to join.

In the quarter of a second that I registered the first bit of the video’s title, I got goosebumps and audibly gasped. Then I saw the “please” at the end of it, and my heart dropped. That was not fair to get my hopes up like that.
I wish there was a possibility for all anime fans to collectively contribute for funds to make anime possible.

I really wonder what happened to this one it must have bombed in Japan or something at the time because otherwise it was really well received from what i can tell when ever i ask about it.
All i can say is there's almost no news I've been able to find on grimgar which is pretty sad.

This video talks about how this show isn't much different than other isekai fantasies.... yet I have yet to see any other fantasy have the level of realism as this one does. They take a long while building up their skills and don't just learn them over night. Also, even though their first kill disturbs them, they don't just completely forget it for the rest of the series. They constantly bring up how death is just something that happens and its something they need to do. Even though subject of respecting the dead, even if they are enemies comes up as well.... I don't know how this video seems to have missed all this, because this show is most definitely NOT the same as other shows.
Very few take this meticulous care in showing characters as they develop their skills and grow closer. So no... this show is not like any other isekai fantasy. If the only differences you see are mood and pacing, then you didn't not watch other anime then this one very close at all.... After all, tell me one fantasy anime where a party of around 5 face A SINGLE enemy that is one of the weakest enemies in the world and struggle this hard. In reality, this is how hard you would struggle due to the conflicting feelings, not used to a fight to the death, and having to take the life of an intelligent creature. I'm willing to bet you could not name one.

Grimgar really had a one of a kind type of vibe for an isekai. While not nearly as "chill", the recent Jobless Reincarnation anime really impressed me with its intimate moments.
Bad anime will have season 2 or even season 3, like Arifureta or Overlord
Good anime will never have a new Season, like Air Gear or Gangsta
