För Sverige i tiden = Our Kings motto, can be translated into "For Sweden in time".
Gör vad som synes omöjligt = Livgardets motto and translates into "Do what seems impossible".
I am so lucky to have tickets to see them 2 weeks from now.😍🤩
Have you really been roasted by Sabaton fans? Seems almost impossible...no true fans of Sabaton does that!
Honest opinions is what we want, fake reactions will be skipped...at least by me. Keep being true my friend!
There is one more sabaton history of the Life guard. Thank you for a good reaction.
I wish I had known.
@@TouchyReactions please react to it now then it’s not too late right? It’s not like you can’t do it now is it?
Melkor, I am so sorry I didn't get to react to both Histories. It's hard to find a logical way to go back and fix it with the way I schedule out all of the reactions months ahead of time. I probably won't be able to do the reaction. I will watch the video on my own time though. Sorry for disappointing you.
I served in Livgardet in 1991 and had my position just outside the Swedish Royal Castle on the Lion Hill. I remember it was freezing cold during nights and hot as hell daytime.
You should be very proud.
@@TouchyReactions Thanks. Sometimes when I get alittle philosofic (mostly after a scotch or two) I can start think of how many have been there before me, guarding the King & the Queen since 1521? 🤔
the first music video is showing the Skirmish at Bender, when King charles the 12th and his royal guards was in Turkey after the defeat of Poltava. The king had outstayed his welcome there and the turkish people stormed the place he lived at. The royal guard fought and killed or wounded between 200-400 while only losing around 30. They did end up losing that skirmish and was captured and then thrown out of Turkey.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skirmish_at_Bender
As someone that joined the livgardet (sadly hurt my knee during basic training so had to quit.) I love this song so much, but ever since this song came out. All my friends in the royal guard havent shut up about it :D
About Sabaton being uninvited, while I do find it sad that politics got invovled, I can also understand why. The swedish military is part of our political government, and Sabaton got uninvited after they had a show in Crimea after Russia took it over. While that might not sound bad, as we all know in todays modern world, one bad PR move and suddenly everything goes to hell :P Ofcourse, among the military of Sweden, Sabaton is probably one of the most popular bands :D
So they decided to do a show for their fans in Crimea and that's a bad PR move? Who cares if Russia is running the place, they deserve to hear great music.
@@brigidtheirish they went there just after Russians had taken it over, made it look like they went there to celebrate that :P Im not saying I agree with dropping them because of it, but I can understand it.
@@Naffurie Good grief. They were probably scheduled for months or even *years* before the invasion. People need to think a little.
@@brigidtheirish oh I agree, its stupid as heck :P
@@brigidtheirish The Swedish government cares, they oficially condemn the occupation and the Swedish armed forces can not have a different political stance than the Government, they are an extension of the swedish political system. Also the show was for a motorcycle gang with ties to Putin which complicates matters.
That being said I don't blame Sabaton for doing the gig, but I also understand why the army had to back out. It's unfortunate but that's the way it goes sometimes. I know this is being blasted by conscripts and professional soldiers at Livgardet no matter what:)
I think its pretty awesome that a little country like Sweden has one of the if not the oldest military in the world.
Not the olders military in the world but our Livgarde is one of the oldest still active military units. I think there is about 6 military units that is older. That includes the famous papal swiss guard.
Sweden is little?
@@brigidtheirish If you take into consideration that we are barely 10 million people and are only the 56th largest country by mass in the world, i would say, yes.
@@hex1c Huh. I mean, most countries seem small compared to the US, so generally don't think about countries being small unless they're *really* tiny. Like Luxembourg.
@@brigidtheirish well, think about the currant situation of the world it might come of as bad to mention this but, USA is tiny in comparision with Russia.
The swedish version video is actually recorded about 5 minutes from my house. I even passed with my car as they recorded. They did put up signs asking all by passers not to disturb by making to much noise. Its a great band!
"De göra vad som synes omöjligt" = livgardets motto and translates to "They do what seems impossible"
The legend says that it comes from the French military attache that said it in Latin for the Livgardets efforts in the battle of Narva in the year 1700. The battle of Narva is viewed as one of Sweden's greatest victories.
28:21 The lyrics mention Dala blood, that means those 16 men who was the first Livgarde to the King Gustaf Wasa in 1521 came from the same county as Sabaton comes from: Dalarna
I'm disappointed they were uninvited to the celebrations. Not that I would have necessarily been able to see it, but the idea they would have been presented alongside other celebratory acts as a cultural treasure is awesome. And this song is fantastic. I love the vocals. And the style is reminiscent of an older classical sound. I would love it if they did some more stuff like this.
happened cause the military higher ups are all politicians sadly.
YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW LONG I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS, MAN!
p.s. publish that video of you singing 82nd all the way plz 😂😂😂
It's on the end of my "Christmas Truce" reaction. You can find it on my channel.
The reason it got cancelled was because Sabaton had a concert in Crimea 2015 (the Ukranian territory invaded and annexed by russia some years earlier). Sad that it got cancelled, but maybe it was for the best considering current events.
Yes, and because of international diplomatic reasons, the Sabaton couln't any longer be part of the official celebration since that could make them a symbol of the swedish state affairs. It's unfotunately just politics, but politics are as it is.
Sabaton never takes a side in politics, but people ascribe their actions to taking a side.
Congratulations! A gig in TN, so 82nd all the way is 101% sure part of the set 👍
I sure hope so. I reached out to them on Twitter and requested it.
@@TouchyReactions they just have to! "In the draft of 1917, a man from Tennessee..." ;)
The instruments with the lion and the 3 crowns have been used on the Caroulus rex and Gustavus Adolphus songs for a while. For example the Swedish hockey team have 3 crowns on the chest wich is a symbol of Sweden after it got founded from 3 small kingdoms into 1. The lion is the symbol for Adolphus who put Sweden on the map and also introduced the modern warfare to europe. Both Napoleon and Adolph Hitler used Adolphus military doctrines as a blueprint for how to make war.
This reaction is the most thorough I have seen ! Good reaction, From Sweden !!!
Glad you enjoyed it Dennis
I actually did my military service as a soldier in the Livgardet. Really cool they made a song about it.
Congrats on the tickets man! 🥳
Once again, thank you for another awesome deep dive into a great and imo underrated Sabaton song. Greetings from Germany, keep up the good work, and I can' wait to see the "Hearts of Iron" reaction uploaded here on RUclips. I always enjoy your open minded way to get into new stuff.
Thank you so much 💓
I would love to see your take on Bloodywood. Endurant is a beautiful song with a powerful message, and an emotional video. Fair warning, you may need tissues, but it's well worth it!
There’s a sabayon history for “the royal guard” telling the of the music video it’s completely worth the watch the story is crazy
I served in Livgardet in 2001 as a Livdragon, or Life Guards Dragoon. We performed many changing of the guard ceremonies, both mounted and on foot. Also many many hours on post at the Royal Castle. Good times. It's an honor to have served in a regiment with such pedigree.
Thank you for your service
The reason the army stoped the cooperation with Sabaton is because: In 2015 they played a concert in Sevastopol in Ukraine (Sevastopol is in the occupied Crimea).
And to add another layer of shit on this cake, this concert was organized by the biker gang called Night Wolves (But are often referred to as Putins Hells Angels for very good reasons…..)
And before somebody says anything stupid, I’m a HUGE Sabaton Fan, I’ve seen them live many times. First time was in their own hometown of Falun in 2011.
You have to realize how it would’ve looked if the Swedish army would’ve gone forward with Sabaton..
Livgardet was actually the first song Sabaton released after I first got into them. Definitely one of my favorites.
Also, if you haven't seen it yet, I highly suggest their song Blood of Bannockburn
Sweet you'll love seeing them live I've been a fan since 2008 and seen them live twice amazing both times also a great way to start my Saturday with the reaction upload great song choice
Thank you
Ottoman: shoots Chris
Chris: "So you have chosen death!"
It was at that moment, Carl knew he f*cked up.
Lol
Idk dude the kda ratio tells otherwise
I don't know if I'll be able to see them during their next tour since I'll be in college in a place that's far away from the nearest place they'll be so I have to see them on a weekend and the closest they'll be on a weekend is Cincinnati which is 9 hours away.
As a side note here, för Sverige i tiden is the royal motto (valspråk) of our current king of Sweden.
Thanks
I'm 6'5, 270 lbs, good looking, i like cigars, whiskey and Pantera... but... i'm no rockstar. Damn you Hannes, luckiest sob in the world.
History be crazy. Swedish king has to be exiles into turkey, and he came back alive after attempt on his life on foreign soil.
Those were definitely people not mannequins, saw them move throughout the video, which props to them
for standing there mostly still while holding something out, let alone while a song's being played live next to them.
You’re seeing them live in Nashville? Then you’ll probably encounter Tank the Tech who’ll also be there.
It's 2 different episodes on Sabaton history for Livgardet and Royal guard
Idk why he didn’t react to both the history videos since both are in English now he missed a large part. :/
I didn't know there were two.
@@TouchyReactions Can you react to the other history video too for Royal guard now as well? Both the Royal guard and Livgardet history videos are in English but talk about different things in our history and you reacted to the Livgardet history vid please react to Royal guard history video too now. I beg you. 🙏
Hey candy as we think today was really uncommon and super expensive at the time, there's a reason it's served in a silver thingy(?). Lovely reaction as usual!
Thanks, Makes sense.
Fun fact, the swedish video is recorded less then 2 minute away from my house. Sabaton is great!
Can we apreciate that in 3:36 of original Royal Guard video Joakim parried a bullet?
Like a boss...
They actually have another Sabaton history video for Royal Guard which covers different things.
Missed that one. Sorry
Background wasn*t manequins you can see one move right around the time you paused for the crest on the guitar.
Really, they were very still.
Sorry, this may appear almost completely off topic, but something you said hit home. Covid did cause some real problems, which came up with some interesting solutions.
Completely different music style, but an example of a way to promote himself and help out a struggling business:
Canadian Singer/songwriter Lawrence Gowan (who is performs solo, but is also current lead singer for Styx) in an attempt to help a struggling theatre did live stream performances from the theatre with just him playing and his son on Drums.... He did a big bit promoting the history of the theatre and also making it almost a "live in your living room" type thing by doing a Q&A session at the end with people on the stream.
The Barenaked Ladies (I swear it is only coincidence that they are Canadian as well) did a series of videos of their favourite songs done from their individual homes via video conference.
While I am not recommending that peoples should have a rough life, it is true that hardship of one form or another forces us to inovate.
Yes, we watched a Jason Mraz concert from home during the pandemic. Though it may revolutionize how concerts are sold.
I did Livgardet in late 1970s. Best time of my life before I met my wife. / Micke P
Something to be proud of.
The Swedish version, Livgardet, came out first, followed by the English, Royal Guard.
One could think of it as the Swedish version was a strategy meeting/last supper before the battle of the English version.
When I first heard this one, I kept thinking, "Isn't this a church song? Why did they set it to a hymn?" Apparently, it's a popular hymn in Sweden.
Yes, it is the old christian pilgrims-hymn "Härlig är jorden" in english "Gorgeuos is the earth"
I would not say they are like the American secret service. The Royal Guard stand out in their uniforms. The Swedish equivalent to the American secret service I would say is Säpo Swedish Security Service. The Swedish Security Service is a Swedish government agency organized under the Ministry of Justice. It operates as a security agency responsible for counter-espionage, counter-terrorism, as well as the protection of dignitaries and the constitution. They dress more like secret service and is armed in a similar fashion.
I don't recall if you did burn your crosses but I recommend it
Not yet
The song has the same melody (or incredibly similar to) a Christian Hymn
In English Fairest Lord Jesus/Beautiful Saviour
In Swedish Psalm 297 (Lovely is the Earth)
You missed one history video, the one about the battle depicted in the English music video
Yeah, my bad
For me is NB 1 !!!
Hmmm, jag firade som Uppsalabo 700 år 1986. Med resten av Uppsala såklart.
that cool helmet is a pickelhaube
Great name for a great helmet.
You reacted to the English music video and the history video for the Swedish version of the song and they are completely different so I’m extremely confused why you reacted to a song and a history video about a completely different thing? Please react to Livgardet song as well since you reacted to the history video for it.
And please react to Royal guard history video since you reacted to the song Royal guard.
It’s not too late anyway it’s not like you can’t fix this right?
I reacted to both songs. I didn't know there were 2 histories. Sorry.
@@TouchyReactions So you won’t ever react to the other history video now is that what you’re saying?
@@melkor3496 Chill, mate. He didn't say anything of the sort.
hmmmm, pity you missed the history video for The Royal Guard
Yeah, I didn't know there were 2.
@@TouchyReactions I mean yeah, if you don't know every video from Sabaton History, it's easy to miss
I'm just gonna jokingly low-key blame the ppl who recommended it for not telling you XD (like legit, don't take me seriously on that)
The first video, the english version, it depicts "Kalabaliken i Bender",
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skirmish_at_Bender
Naffurie is stating incorrect information, when the Swedish sodiers cane out after the building was set on fire, the leader of the Turks, called for a cease fire coz obv Turky didnt want a war against Sweden. They cam out and the scirmish was ended, the Swedes went back home. Typical Turks to change the history to make it look like they won anything. Tbh there shouldnt have been a skirmish to beginn with, we were allies, but for some reason the Turks decided to invade the buildings the Swedes was living in, possible being pressured by the Russians?
Did you read the credits? Because there a small joke in there.
No I missed it
@@TouchyReactions
The drummer Hannes Van Dahl is called an extra while the rest of the band is leading actors 1-4
@@Archangel1862 I NEVER noticed that! That's hilarious!
They should have listed him as "Hannes Jansen"
Each song has a sabaton history episode so i guess you forgot one
Ooops
@@TouchyReactions some exceptions like wolfpack that has 2 and soldiers of 3 armys that has 3
I got lucky and stumbled across the 2nd wolfpack one during the reaction, or I would have missed that too.
@@TouchyReactions well you only missed the episode when they talk about that fight between the sweds and the turks that u probably see in the coments
I love the song and Sabaton, but they fucked up when they went to play for putlers boys.
