The history edition of the song has a great intro to this song. It's one of my favorites on the album. "1914. How peculiar that a single bullet can trigger a chain of events that would change the world forever. Nations will be torn apart, Empires will fall and an entire continent will be set ablaze in the wake of this event. Allies has a triggered in a chain reaction, resulting in a war that sweeps across Europe like a merciless plague. Armies will destroy the land, soldiers dig endless trenches and the shells will leave scars on earth for generations to come. We will also see the birth of some of the most devastating inventions mankind has ever conceived
Born in factories, delivered by engineers, immune to the bullets of the regular soldier, unbothered by the burdens of the land... the tank. The Future of Warfare"

I never thought about the single bullet before. Shocking.

One of the interesting stories of WW1 is about the last A7V the Mephisto which is now in the Queensland museum a group of Australian solders saw that the Germans had abandoned it and decided to take it as a trophy after the war it would become the rarest tank

    • @KimFareseed
      @KimFareseed 2 года назад +9

I mean, who wouldn't want to bring an abandoned tank back as a trophy?
The shipping back to Australia must have been a pain though.

Over the battlefield you could hear a voice shouting " Lads! I want that tank with me back to Australia!" , and all you could do is swear in german and report it missing.

Imagine being on the frontline, you have been there for weeks and suffered in the mud and watery graves of the battlefield, then from afar you hear a thunderous sound and 32 metal boxes with guns comes rolling over the enemy trench towards your position.. i would huff it out of there.

Non LEGO building blocks, that are compatible with the LEGO system. Because LEGO does not want to make war themed sets.
    So other companies do.
    EDIT:
Star Wars and medival, being an exception, far enough removed I guess.

One small correction; the building block tank that you've recognised as an Abrams tank is actually a Strv 81, which is the Swedish version of the British Centurion Mk 3. The only difference between the Strv 81 and the Centurion Mk 3 is the radio equipment. The Centurion is widely considered the first MBT in history and thus the origin of modern armored tank design.
As always, a fantastic reaction. Thank you for doing these!

@@TouchyReactions And specificaly this is World of tanks version of STRV 81 called Primo Victoria (main difference from STRV 81 is that it has 5 Crewmembers instead of 4) and it was 1st Sabaton tank in that game. Front upper glacis of Primo Victoria has extra blocks to resemble Joakims "Armor" vest. In my opinion WG missded opportunity to draw aviator shades on gunmantlet cover for full trademark look. :D

I enjoyed your face upon hearing the story of the water tanks! Tanks are the modern version of Hannibal's elephants, during the war between Cartago and Rome in the 2nd century BC. Contrary to what is said in the history channel, the tanks are much older than the 20th century: the first model was designed by Leonardo da Vinci, propelled by a clockwork mechanism. As the mechanism had to be rewound after 3 meters of advance, the machine was found unpractical on battlefields and was thus abandoned.

Great video, I am glad more people get to learn interesting things about our world while listening to good music. I know that it would probably be the least Sabaton video ever, but as a Canadian I would love to see your reaction to "In Flanders Fields," the outro of the Great War album. This is probably the most famous Canadian poem ever and there is a great and, dare I say, touchy Sabaton History video on it

The "M1A2 Abrams" is a Stridsvagen 81 basically a Swedish Centurion and this Model is like the band members made by the polish company Cobi.
Many things in the video are made from Lego parts but also many are made from Cobi. You can see the difference in the tank tracks. The one with many round holes held together in the middle are Lego(probably repurposed construction machine tracks) and the tanks with more massive tracks(the green british one and the german A7V for example) are made by Cobi.
Both are compatible with each other but the differences are Lego doesn't build war things except they can write "rescue" on them, are fictional, from movies or the Red Baron plane while Cobi blocks are made for collectors and model building. They hold way tighter together than Lego, have many own parts and use since 3 years ago only prints instead of the Lego stickers. Cobi makes wonderful tank, ship and plane sets(I have a Panzerkampfwagen III, Matilda II, Tiger 131, Leopard 1, Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus, TOG II*, Karl Gerät, Bismarck and BF-109 from them. All great and fully compatible with Lego and I personally would say Cobi is overall better than Lego, but that is just my opinion).
Little side note, Lego doesn't like when RUclipsrs say Lego to non Lego blocks. At least in the EU. They tried to sue several german Building Block RUclipsrs several times but that just made more people aware of other manufacturers.

If you one day run out of Sabaton stuff to react to, I would personally recommend you to check out the band Powerwolf. They do not sing about history, but are a more traditional power metal band. The music is fantastic and their live performances are out of this world. Their latest single "Sainted by the Storm" sounds like it was heavily inspired by Sabaton's sound, so you might enjoy them.

John Deere Tractors also back in the day made 2 prototype armored tractors mounting machine guns for the U.S. in the late 1930's but thats as far as it went. a few years back i saw some pic that someone made reproductions of them based off the old blue prints.

@Touchy Reactions As someone has already mentioned that is a Centurion was the first modern MBT to form a proper balance between the three important areas that tanks needs
to succeed ARMOUR, MOBILITY and FIREPOWER something tank designers kinda struggled with how to do it for a while Centurion's saw action during the Korean War against North Korea and China.
One story I heard was the Centurion had really good climbing capabilities and whilst the US forces liked their tanks it wasn't as capable at climbing extremely steep terrain so when British Centurion's arrived to provided support they where beyond extatic watching them climb these steep areas and essentially rain fire down on advancing enemy forces.
Though sadly during the battle for the Imjin River several where lost I believe trying to rescue the Gloucestershire Regiment who where pretty much out of ammunition and supplies holding off the hundreds of Chinese soldiers for several days and nights the tank's had to retreat because the Chinese where so numerous Centurion's where physically spraying each other with Machine gun fire because they where being swarmed.
But the Centurion lead to tanks like Cheiften, M1A1 Abrams, Challenger 1, M1A2 Abrams , Challenger 2.
Kinda dragged that out a little sorry😅

The reactive tank plating you mentioned was apparently discovered in ww2 when a tank took a direct hit to a shell that was stored on the side of the turret and the commander noticed the explosion of the shell negated the incoming missile. Or so i remember the story i heard a few years ago.
Talking about tanks is always cool, this, Ghost division and Panzerkampf are amongst my favourite history episodes.
This channel called Lindybeige ran by a man named Lloyd has some really fun and interesting videos on tanks, i'll give you just three in case you're interested.

Hey touchy, thanks for another great reaciton! If you wanted to try something a little diffrerent but still history related id suggest the video "Hardcore History Blueprint For Armageddon with graphics" its a trailer for the Dan Carlin podcast, but the video itself is an interesting self contained history lesson & thought exercise. ruclips.net/video/RglqdXD9MXE/видео.html even if you dont want to film a reaction to it, id still suggest as a personal listen
