Hey, I made Windows RG! Love to see my creation from 20 years ago is still doing the rounds and being put to such good use :D
Wow, really? I used to play with it when I was 10.
Thank you so much for doing it! It is so funny. It is also great fodder for additional laughs when used for messing with heads, as seen here. :) It would be interesting to make a version that looks more current, with jokes about current foibles. However, with Flash going away, I'm not sure how one would build such a joke. It might have to be a real program, or even a real OS to run in a VM. Surely it wouldn't be hard to customize a Linux build with a similar-to-Windows-looking shell into something ridiculous that could actually be booted or even installed, right?

@@edifyguy That actually sounds massively complicated! But I'm sure someone's up to the task... personally I'd like to make a new 20th anniversary edition, but that would be in Flash. There's an impressive Flash emulator now and you can always export as an exe so it can be run as a program in Windows, so still plenty of options even with the death of Flash

I'm not native English speaker either, doc and dog sound familiar to me. also, in many movies, what's up dog or what's up dawg are used many times. I never heard the joke before, so when he first said updog I was confused too. but when the scammer said "what is updog?", I get the joke instantly...
@@IceBlueLugia No, it's not complex. It's one of the first things you hear when you learn any language - different ways to say "hi" and "how are you". IF he learned it through the internet, the fact he doesn't understand it is even more baffling. Stop trying to somehow make this out to be "oh but they don't say it". kitboga should add more and more minor things to see if they notice anything. like a clock that counts backwards or an error message that says it really doesnt feel like opening the program.

And suddenly different songs start playing in the background and no one can figure out where it's coming from. I think the error message: Windows does not feel like working now should be accompanied with the song "On No... oh no no no no no.."
The manager on the first call knew exactly what was going on. The first thing he did was cast doubt on whether that was your actual computer as opposed to a virtual window, but you were so quick to say you'd pay that he just went along and hoped he'd get lucky.
Still wasted at least 30 minutes of that guys time!

You gotta remember about scammers like this, they don't *want* to help you. They don't *need* to help you, they just need to sound confusing enough that you trust them and take your money.

To understand the joke he has to know that "What's up?" is asking someone how/what they're doing & "dog" is how we refer to a friend in slang. How is he supposed to understand the context, implication & inflection automatically just because he knows what the words mean literally?

Sadly enough older people like my parents who are in their 70's, never had computers growing up and barely know anything about them now except how to turn them on and check facebook so they will believe anything a scammer says that sounds remotely sophisticated. Another one: have it do an update but it loops forever. Like updating eventually turns into downloading after reaching 100 percent and then it changes to installing, then into processing, then into applying updates, then into reconfiguring... Etc.
make the progress bar exceed 100% too without finishin, I've seen it happen randomly lol
@@stevejohnson6593 I'm pretty sure the installer for Windows 95 could exceed 100% on some of its steps. Maybe it wasn't 95 but I really feel like one of the Windows installers back in the day did that.
Make it so the progressbar goes up to 5% and immediately falls to -5%
And at the final 3 steps, it pauses at 98% or 99%, and at the end, it just tells you that it couldn't install the update, so it uninstalls the update, taking the same amount of time, and then you try installing it again, taking the same amount of time (including the uninstall part), and it just keeps going forever and ever until finally the update gets installed. Just one problem.
*The computer shuts down and/or presumably crashes immediately after.*
Something using that “verify you are not a robot” with those picture choices with no way to get out of it.
Yeah something like pictures of a street with no trees and you have to click on trees, etc.
It happens by accident sometimes, it'll say click all the cats and sometimes there just aren't any left! But he designs the program so that it doesn't matter which ones you click, it still goes through after a certain number of clicks. They didn't seem to notice when he ran out of correct ones lol. They get really mad when nevaeh starts calling animals the wrong names though! 😂

This flavour of scammer has absolutely no sense of humour, they have no clue about pop culture and they can say English words but have no real understanding of the language, they all wear blinkers and they can't deviate from their script.
I would be interested to see scammers try to interact with other obsolete or unusual operating systems, perhaps Linux distros disguised to look like Windows, or if you're really feeling sadistic fling OS/2 or Windows ME at them.
