one fan says
"Remember when he had me over. He'd just toured the Jackson/Charvel guitar plant and they'd given him close to 8 or 10 guitars to get his opinion on them and consider endorsing them. He wailed on that Jackson until MY fingers hurt! He says "Oh yeah, check this axe out..." Popped out Surfcaster in a mint green that had "prototype" pressed into the back of the headstock. The a year or so later, they officially released the Surfcaster for public sales. Ran in to him and asked bout that weird mint green guitar and he goes "man give me $100 and it and the case are yours!" Wish had taken him up on it just to have an axe that belonged to him. Foolishly, I'd bought a Roland GR 300 floor synth module for the guitar cause had bought a GR 700 Synth/Guitar and couldn't find a floor module anywhere. Heck he sold it to me for $60. Course the dedicated 24pin connection cord was missing. Eventually found one. Alas the GR 700 guitar, with its pink fur-lined case got stolen outta my car after practice when left it in the truck accidently. Held on to GR 300 floor module for about 6 or 8 years but never found another guitar "controller" for sale. Bout 2001 heard about this thing called Ebay folks were using, found out that very GR300 floor module was selling there for $600 +/- and like a stupid idiot sold it. So now have nothing that belonged to Shawn. RIP Shawn..you were the best Memphis ever produced and I miss you and you weird little laugh (that always made me laugh hearing it)."
Can we talk about how Shawn paused to hike his pants up!! and never missed a note. 😂
@@bentheredonethat-lx6nh it has been noted 😂
otherworldly, incomprehensible, inhuman, monster, total master, force of nature, finger athlete, the greatest of all time
love it, finger athlete!
I came down to comments unable to grasp what I was watching during the middle part (or any part for that matter) because my brain couldn't accept that someone could be _this_ in control of anything, save for the guitar.
I had to shake my head after realizing my mouth was agape; the sheer precision--not to mention the savant level of musicality and originality--is what boggles my mind. How, how can someone be _that_ fast, playing with what seems like reckless abandon, while being surgically precise in execution?
Watching completely with rapt attention...
Absolutely, no hyperbole... unbelievable.
Unbelievable playing.🔥 Shawn still unmatched to this day.

@@BeachJazzMusic a man enjoying his music.
I love that one riff where he keeps going back to a kind of chromatic flurry where he slides up and tags the 24th fret then drops back into the assault of the chromatics.
He does it with such precision that it starts sounding like something robotic
