- Let’s fly the flagship of Qatar Airways on their flagship route to London Heathrow! On QR 001 nonetheless!
Qatar Airways operates up to 8(!) daily flights to Heathrow, but only one flight in the entire network gets the prestigious number 1 number!
Last week I’ve shown you what it is like to fly BA from Dubai to London. I thoroughly enjoyed that experience and believe British Airways improved a lot. This week I am showing you the same experience but with their close partner and partial owner Qatar Airways.

For me they’re both tied in service quantity and quality.

No worries as always a great video, one important typo was leaving the end off Southend-on-sea which was the south end of Prittlewell Chase (hence the name) a famous hunting forest of Henry the eighth after he got the land of Anne Boleyn whose family lived nearby! As for living in Hounslow try Southend where I spend my days watching all those planes coming in to LHR or LCU and climbing out of LGW or STN

I think your comment re the plane type influencing the overall experience is spot on - you even seem to have got better food on the A350.
I think the food gets all made in the same place so it doesn’t matter much. But the product yes, it varies on the aircraft! there is a huge difference between the A330 and A350 😔

I always love the transition from Middle East to European countries. Both areas look so beautiful. And especially you describe small regions like the petroleum or the islands in Qatar is really good. Most important I love the way you focus on small details like while landing you noticed another airplane which is really rare to notice sometimes.

I also would choose BA.. It was more fun.. I fly QR all the time and I like it. It’s good. But I just have more fun with BA crew as they’re more interactive. The rest of the product is almost the same.

Amazing report as always, the quality and effort you put in is unmatched! Man i wish qatar would fly the A350 to manchester like before, the constant ex cathay 777 is getting old.
I’ve recently filmed the ex Cathay B777 and will try to publish it next month. I didn’t mind some change, but yes, QR’s own aircraft are better.. Hope they return to MAN soon!

Personally Ive become cautious about QR not the airline but their stance about Israel and what just took place...but that is political and I want to be cautious!
From my experience as captain with KLM it indeed comes down to the spirit of the team and I always prior to my flights had a pep talk with the whole onboard team and wanted to know one by one their troubles and joys before the flight for which I was always praised! That really makes the flight and reflects down to all passengers! Take a break my friend! You deserve it! Come to NZ!!!! I'll give you a grand tour! Hartelijke groet Flip.

And yes, regarding the stance of Qatar it is a sensitive topic, specially in this region. I’m however glad to see progress from most other countries around them as they are making small steps forward.
That’s some nice team building you did. I do the same for my team on a daily basis. I know that most of their performance on the day will depend on the transparency, empathy and approachability of their leadership on the day, so it’s a very nice thing you’ve been doing.
And that indeed reflects on passengers.
Me as a passenger I can spot a great team spirit from a toxic one in a flash. My most recent example was on Virgin Atlantic, boy are they a cool fun bunch.
I really want to come to NZ but it’s such a long time away from home! I’ve got some leave coming up but I can’t see myself 16 hours with my 3 year old in a plane 😅

The Trent XWB engines on the A350 sounds surprising quiet during takeoff in real life as compared to hearing them from videos 😮
They are very quiet in both, 777 takeoffs tend to overwhelm camera microphones lol

Begin november vliegen we van Doha naar Denpassar in de A350-1000 jammer genoeg in economic, business was veel te duur. (Misschien een goedkopere upgrade mogelijk 🤔)

Hey Patrick! Ik hoop dat je een upgrade email ontvangt voor de vlucht. Dat is de goedkopere optie. Maar op de vlucht naar Bali is het de nieuwe configuratie van de A35K met een kleinere Business en meer economy zitplaatsen.
Welcome in de high valued club! Gold in QR is echt kicken. De Gold en Platinum lounges in Doha zijn mooi.. Het service en product is precies het zelfde als in Al Mourjan. En de extra benefits met OneWorld zijn ook prima.
Ik ben zelf Platinum maar tussen Gold en Platinum is er wijnig verschil..

The A350’s flap sounds are genuinely like music to my ears, just like the General Electric’s GE90 startup and spool up.

Diners, Drive-ins and Dives is nice and I don’t mind watching it, but it quite heavy American food! I love Chef’s table on netflix. If you watch the intro, you’ll get where I get some of my intro filming inspiration from!
I also loved “Man vs Food”. Sometimes I like to rewatch that.

It makes a huge difference… But also in Asian carriers. Both are best in hospitality terms.

I fly a lot for my work too! Almost no trip is one I’m doing without a purpose.
I work in a major hospitality and travel brand. Whatever I do, it always requires me to fly!
I've booked 17H and 18H,J,K (there's no I) on their a350-900 aircraft for my upcoming flight. It's the 2nd and 3rd row of economy, at the front of the wing. Hopefully it's far enough in front to still get a decent view.
Qr10 and Qr1 for my Lhr-doh legs, but both seem to be the a359 for my dates

I want to fly to Russia, but as you understand, it is very challenging now. Not only do I need to request for a visa and all that, but I will have A LOT of problems at customs all over the world. But I promise to keep trying!

LHR reveals some Qatar Airways A350s as part of the British Airways partnership,although they are not used except the A380s.

It’s one of the first seats to disappear as it’s the best! But hopefully you find some other good seat with a good view.
By the way, I don’t know if 31AK also applies on the -900…
@@TheLayoverAviation . No it doesn't apply. its 3×3 configuration ... I have taken 16A which is window seats but over the wings but plenty of leg room as this is the first row in economy.

I agree love the curved wingtip of the A350. It’s very unique and easily distinguishable. Love how you adore Indian food, maybe you have got some Indian somewhere in your genes 😜 Love the belly camera especially when the landing gear is down.
Did you know that there are 2 different wingtips on the A350? The older A350’s have a sharper and taller one why this one is a bit shorter yet sleeker. Have a look online!

Why do you like the longer Airbus A350? I have flown the 900 variant for the 1st time and it's good, but not the 1000, but hopefully 1 day, next year, I will fly the longer variant.
the -900 is nice but there is something about the massive -1000! It also requires more power to take off so it feels like a beast!

On flights to india, for us Indians service on carriers like BA and LH totally depends on how you look, unfortunately.
I don’t know. I think in most places it’s also mostly how you behave, not how one looks. I’ve worked a lot in hospitality and I’ve been spoken to very bad or impolite by some customers. My treatment to them will absolutely not be the same as to those that are kind and polite.
I’m flying every week a few times and I can see people acting like monsters to passengers and crew.
So no matter how your looks are, with politeness, kindness, a smile and “please” you’ll get far. Trust me.

Dubai doesn’t have any oil! It’s less then 1% of its economy. It’s mostly retail, tourism, banking, business, and specially aviation!
What was it before? Maritime trading and pearls????

Yes we have! I’ve flown a few times, even on the same day that the B777-200ER disappeared.. I’ll try to fly it in November as I need to go to KL.
My wife is Croatian, but she was in Malaysia for work.

Nice. Really? No way. Hope your in a different Malaysia Airlines flight number. The old Malaysian Airlines, Boeing 777-200ER has been retired. The only plane that is active is the Airbus A330-300 and 200, Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 737-800. Before COVID, Malaysia Airlines used to fly to London 2 times weekly on the Airbus A380, but now, it is replacing the Airbus A350-900 because it's grounded, even after the pandemic, but I still see Malaysia Airlines, Airbus A380 in the parking stand. Okay good luck. Hope you fly Malaysia Airlines on the Airbus or Boeing when you have a connecting flight when the price is cheap to fly to Malaysia.
11:33 As an Indian who has lived in the UK for a year now, it boggles my mind how everything is a curry to them! No Britons, you have no understanding of Indian food haha! I understand it's geared to their palette but it makes me cringe when they say they have some of the best Indian food here and it's just 5-7 dishes that feature on every menu (that aren't even too big in India), with the same gravy as the base.
Although there are some hidden gems you can find in London as far as Indian food goes.
As someone who's lived there since 1999/2000, can say that Dubai is where the best Indian food is. I'm sure these guys have not even heard of a dosa, chaat, or some of our desserts, haha!
And Hounslow might be great for planespotting.. don't think its a great area otherwise haha. :)

Dubai has great food indeed, but that’s thanks to the many people from India here and the proximity of the local produce. So it’s easy to make it.
And yes, Hounslow for spotting and ASDA. Don’t think I’ve done much else there 😉

Hey Kevin. Around $400 one way from Dubai. It depends on the day, it keeps changing.
I see. Yeah if I book less than 1 month, before the trip, it can be cheap or expensive, depending on which airline I gonna take. You should include how much you pay to fly on your trip report.

As an American citizens i used to travel in qatar alot. I love spending time there. Right now Americans or European, or any other countries traveling to qatar need to be careful. A country that gives money and safe haven for terrorist like hamas leaders. How do people trust to travel there? How do you know they not take us citizens as hostages? It's time for the world to isolate boycott Qatar.
I don't think most of the pilots understand Arabic to understand the prayer. Because most of them are Caucasian.
Qatar has lost a lot in terms of quality and service after the pandemic, dirty toilets, bad food and very often they use old planes on the routes I have flown.....
The good times is probably over, but as long as they can pay Scamtrax, they will probably be at the top of the rankings....
Out of most airlines QR crew look well after the toilets.. But yes, lots of old planes left in the fleet and it costs the same to fly those vs the new ones.. Specially me from Dubai I get each singe available plane in the fleet!
And yes, I don’t trust scamtrax either. But QR remains one of the best, specially in Qsuites.. But not the n1 in my opinion either.
