I also loved the book but felt like there wasn’t enough payoff at the end because I wanted to see Yukiho’s life that she built crumble away and I wanted to see her have an Azula-type meltdown and everyone she’s ever known to discover the truth about her. But as I neared the end of the book I realized that wouldn’t all happen due to how few pages were left. I also thought it was interesting how Ryo felt like his relationships with people were more real and that he was more himself around others, while Yukiho felt so fake. It makes sense by the end after we find out the trauma Yukiho went through that must have broken her in such a terrible way as a child
yes!! that is another scenario I would have loved to see as well. That part about Ryo is also why I felt sorry for him. When he left the computer shop to his friend, he was really sincere and I felt he was looking for that kind of love too.
Great review.. I still feel incomplete on how the story ended… but I have a feeling I will only appreciate the book more and more with time… and you touched on a lot of great reasons why the story is so strong.. including the story, the characters and the themes
