This was such a lovely project to squeeze in before the end of the year! Like I mention in the video, this video is in part sponsored by Wayfair to share the video I made on their channel, all about the history of Mid Century Modern style! Check it out here: bit.ly/astyleisborn (Thanks to everyone who goes over there and gives it a watch! ♥)
Just watched it and your hard work really shows! Looking forward to other parts of the serious and hope they’re paying you well! I’d love to see more on Bauhaus, Victorian and Scandinavian 😇 I’m sure there are lots of others that I haven’t really thought of before so can’t wait to see what you come up with.
I know this video is a little dusty and I'm sure you've changed things around by now, but I still wanted to add my unsolicited opinion: The lamp looks amazing and perfect with the green paint, colorful artwork and those GORGEOUS doors. I think you should keep it. However, the shade is way too small for it and the paintings behind the lamp throw it off balance. My suggestion is to lose the map (but I love it), get a larger lampshade of your choosing and then balance that out with the remaining two pictures. Possibly, tie the lampshade color to a hue that is common to the lamp base and one of the paintings . Perhaps one with a non-competitive tonal pattern. Or you could hand-paint something on it. Or you could just go neutral, in a natural fiber of some sort and really good texture. But my gosh I'm in love with your house!! Especially the creepy bits. Can't wait to catch up! 💜 *edited for emoji illiteracy *edited yet again for grammatical stupidity. If you see any other errors in my comment please don't tell me. 😁
I know the end of the year is upon us but I would love a "1 year into the renovations" update!!!! To see how far you've come and celebrate your accomplishments :)
I love this little corner! And the lamp! I agree with a change of shade maybe a different shape? Maybe swapping the pictures from left to right too so the lamp doesn't hide them. I really love everything about it!
I think a rounder, more shapely shade would really suit the design of the lamp base, like a little scalloped dome or a small vintage glass dome shade. It's such a gorgeous lamp!
I can't even express how relaxing and calming these videos are. Not only are they super fun and interesting to watch, but they also help me to just unwind and chill for a bit.
My older sister and I had a competition to see who could thrift all of the hard back Series of Unfortunate Events books. I had gone to the thrift store down the street from HER house and in the window was the ENTIRE series for sale for only $25. I WON! Now they sit proudly on a Baudelaire themed shelf!! I love watching your renovation videos you have such a unique style that's really inspiring, you also got me back into reading thank you for that.
Everytine that I have to say the world beautiful out loud I try to say with the energy that Ariel puts on it. Just BEAUTIFUL! I absolutely love this series.
Such a cute space! I love having little pockets of happiness around in the house. And those minis are the most adorable thing in the world! The lamp is gorgeous and it brings much needed light to a space without windows. Maybe switch the paintings so the single is above the lamp and the doubles aren’t blocked, to bring a little more balance?
This turned out really nice, the board and batten is appropriate for your house. Your bowl appears to be 1930s depression glass. I think the lamp shade/lamp is great, it works. Nice job!
Thank you for mentioning my Etsy!!! SO INCREDIBLY KIND! And as someone who has been watching since the brick wall days, it's a huge honor. Have a happy new year!
I absolutely love the lamp. If you love it you should keep it there. I truly love all the renovations you have done in your home. Just keep up the good work.
Love how you described the space at the end- a thoughtful space, yes!! Displaying things that are meaningful to you. Okay, really makes me want to dig out my treasures hidden in closets, and give them the places of honour they deserve! :)
I just love how you put bookshelves everywhere in your house. Yes! Yes! Yes! the mini furniture, the lamp, the picture, the books, the games, the videos looks perfect.
I remember last year on Christmas Day I got up first, got some coffee, and watched Ariel’s first house renovation video! The house has come a long way. I’m always so impressed that Ariel takes the time to try out new ways to fix things up and to learn about how to do everything right. It’s inspiring.
I just love how cozy you are making all your spaces on your house! It’s one area most people not bother with, but it makes so much sense to add some extra details like this all over the house! You do inspire me too!
ariel you crazy wild person you said you would only have 1 more video out by the end of the year but PLOT TWIST here's another one!!! i am honestly so excited your house makes me feel so safe and happy ahhhhhhhhh
I love it! The lamp is perfect. I think that’s a wonderful spot to house your sentimental family memories. Love seeing you work on your house and grow!
That corner is now so precious and beautiful. I’m also loving your videos on Wayfair. They were very smart in contacting you for those segments, you lend an air of calm intelligence and sweetness to all that you do.
Don't touch that beautiful blue shade! It's awesome, and it works so well with the green of the walls and the lovely paintings! I love your renovation. You are making a wonderful home one space at a time.
Greetings from Northern Minnesota....coming from 2 years in the future from when this video was made. Girl, you're amazing!!!! I love your vision and tenacity and willingness to dive right in and change your world!!!!
*** Me again! I watched your Wayfair mid century modern video! Nice work!!!!! I agree, the tiny furniture on the mid century table was pure genius!!!****
I loooove maps, and am obsessed with your tiny nova Scotia one! It all turned out beautifully! I think the lamp is beautiful AND practical, as it's a nice soft glow that can light the stairs if you need to run to the kitchen in the night without the commitment to the overhead lighting! 😆 Thanks for the video!!
Yes to the lamp, looks absolutely beautiful! I'd try a bigger lampshade in a different color (still in the blues family but perhaps with a bit of green in as well), or an off-white for a more neutral look. The corner turned out just perfect!
I started watching your booktube content years ago and my mom has recently started watching your renovation videos so we get to talk about your videos together 😆🧡 The lamp is very Frida Kahlo and I love it!
sat down swaddled in a blanket with a cup of coffee and a new video from Ariel appeared :) reflecting on how much company you've given me in 2021! love our parasocial relationship xoxo
The lamp is GREAT! It really brings it all together. I might move it a liiiitle more to the left so that it's not entirely stuck in the corner but it's awesome ^^
I love **a** lamp in that corner because you can have it on a timer and as a comfortable little hallway light. Not sure about the lampshade either. Love the corner! 😍 thanks for sharing the behind the scenes as well!
I actually love the lamp, I think it ties in a bunch of the colours in that corner! and I LOVE the plain wood doors! They really make everything pop! I'm also very jealous of your Sailor Moon collection 😂😂😂
such a lovely little corner! the sailor moon tapes and the miniatures make my heart happy. i agree with others in the comments that the lamp is fantastic but needs a new shade! perhaps also flipping the paintings so that the dark painting is on the right? so that the lamp fits into the space below it!
I’ve come back to this video so many times for inspiration in creating lil beautiful moments in my house! One lil project at a time can really transform your home in the long run!
Awww I love it! I have a "sentimental" corner at the top of my stairs too with stuff from my family and grandparents. It makes me happy every time I go upstairs!

Been rewatching all these vids this week cause we're isolating at home with COVID. Feel crappy but these cozy vids make it better :)
I found you from that video! I’m researching mid century modern style as inspo for my home and I found that video super interesting and helpful

I love this little corner! And the lamp! I agree with a change of shade maybe a different shape? Maybe swapping the pictures from left to right too so the lamp doesn't hide them. I really love everything about it!

@@ArielBissett merci beaucoup!!
I was just gonna say should swapp the lamp to the left side, cause the frame is higher 🤣🤣
I said the same thing about switch either the lamp or the prints. I just didn't read the comments to know it'd had already been suggested.
I think a rounder, more shapely shade would really suit the design of the lamp base, like a little scalloped dome or a small vintage glass dome shade. It's such a gorgeous lamp!
Yes another house video!! Ariel you are doing such a spectacular job, I hope one day I can also make a quirky house in the woods :)
I can't even express how relaxing and calming these videos are. Not only are they super fun and interesting to watch, but they also help me to just unwind and chill for a bit.
Yea, like, I was feeling low...I see this and my heart says, " Lets be happy now!"
yes, a video about sprucing up a single corner in a hallway just made my day
My older sister and I had a competition to see who could thrift all of the hard back Series of Unfortunate Events books. I had gone to the thrift store down the street from HER house and in the window was the ENTIRE series for sale for only $25. I WON! Now they sit proudly on a Baudelaire themed shelf!! It came out great! What a morale booster! "Yard by yard life is hard, inch by inch it's a cinch."
Binge watching these reno videos and they are giving me LIFE! 💚💚💚
I love that message that in one day pick one small project you can make something beautiful!! Love how that corner turned out.
OBSESSED WITH THE LAMP AND THE WHOLE SITUATION AROUND IT
oh I LOVE the lamp there! And I'm a big fan of one day projects; it's how we have slowly made over our home!
I love how the lamp has all the colours of the boat painting behind it!
Swap the frames so the two frames are opposite of the lamp. Love the lamp and the shade your corner looks amazing.
I would just switch the lamp and the miniatures so it all fits. But adorbs!!!
I agree. I also wish the map was low enough to be able to see closely.
Everytine that I have to say the world beautiful out loud I try to say with the energy that Ariel puts on it. Just BEAUTIFUL!
I absolutely love this series.
Literally was having the worst day and this brightened it up so much. Got my snacks an I'm ready !
Big hug from me to you!!
The map! It’s finally home 🥰 Looking forward to watching your history essay and impulse buying my own tiny miniatures
I watched Encanto the other day amd the main character really reminded me of you and the magic you bring to your beautiful home. 😍
new ariel home reno video is the best birthday gift one can receive tbh
Such a cute space! I love having little pockets of happiness around in the house. And those minis are the most adorable thing in the world! The lamp is gorgeous and it brings much needed light to a space without windows. Maybe switch the paintings so the single is above the lamp and the doubles aren’t blocked, to bring a little more balance?
Can't wait until your whole home is done and we can see a complete home tour. It'll be so amazing to see all your hard work
I love how you put so much love into every little corner of this house and put so much of your own personality into YOUR house. so special.
This turned out really nice, the board and batten is appropriate for your house. Your bowl appears to be 1930s depression glass. I think the lamp shade/lamp is great, it works. Nice job!
Yes! It’s a pattern called “Oyster and pearl” I think!

I like the lamp, plus the blue compliments the green.
Greetings from Northern Minnesota....coming from 2 years in the future from when this video was made. Girl, you're amazing!!!! I love your vision and tenacity and willingness to dive right in and change your world!!!!
I wouldn't think that lamp would work, but the colours in the lamp pick up some colours in the Halifax print. Cute corner!
my favourite time in my life is when you post a home renovation video
Lamp is beautiful, but needs larger shade. Terrific transformation - love the green!
A light Lilac purple on the doors would be stunning
It's beautiful and I love the lamp there! The rest of that hallway will look fabulous like that.
That green with the door color is so homey. Also was thinking a pattern or floral wallpaper would look so good in the back of the bookshelf.
Your RUclips videos are all I look forward to on RUclips now.
These are my absolute favorite videos on RUclips!
Yes on the lamp! The corner looks so cute
Love that shade of green! It reminds me of the kitchen from Anne of Green Gables! 🥰
I really like the blue lamp shade. It works well with the space. Beautiful job!
Sometimes small projects are just what we need to keep the reward feelings and momentum going
The lamp MAKES it! Great job!!!
Lamp stays! We love Lamp!

So warm and inviting. Love the corner. The lamp and pictures are great.

A beautiful art piece of Peggy's Cove! I've lived in NS my whole life and I never want to leave
Such a beautiful corner, and honestly I feel you about Sailor moon and it deserves to be displayed.
Don't change a thing, Ariel. It's perfect and cozy! You have good taste and know how to execute it.
Sailor Moon VHS are charming and everyone loves that show.. you just keep making everything so beautiful xxxx
You are so very talented! The video for Wayfair was perfect!
The lamp is GREAT! It really brings it all together. I might move it a liiiitle more to the left so that it's not entirely stuck in the corner but it's awesome ^^

Very pretty corner of your home. Can't see how the rest of your home will look once you're done. I like the lamp, too.

I love the lamp base! I think the lamp shade is a nice pairing with the dark blues in the paintings and in the lamp base.
I love the lamp on your bookshelf, and the corner is awesome
I actually love the lamp, I think it ties in a bunch of the colours in that corner! and I LOVE the plain wood doors! They really make everything pop!
I'm also very jealous of your Sailor Moon collection 😂😂😂
You can tell how much work you put into the history video. It’s incredible! Loved it.
Those doors look so much nicer with the green
Love your little corner...and I really love the lamp.
