As a British person, you absolutely cannot just use a boring plate for your tea bags. Most places that sell crockery also sell fun and quirky teabag pots/plates. We have one that's shaped like a teapot, my nan has one shaped like a chicken. Your glass one is ideal, I love it.
As a person who has lived my whole life in the southern United States, hearing you say you've probably never had a casserole in your life really and truly floored me. Love your style!
Exactly, why spend a lot of money on things you love when at the end of your life you realize you've never gotten any use out of them? And if something breaks, so be it. That's just part of life😌😂
In America, when I was a teen, we had “No Frills” and “Generic” aisles in the grocery store. Packaging was white with black lettering. Basic. Cheaper. Of course, there were jokes about those who had to shop the No Frills aisle. I’m a middle school teacher, the students tell me the current term is “off brand”. Can’t wait to see the kitchen reno. ♥️
My favorite thing is following your house renovation because it’s probably the farthest thing of anything I would ever do but I love that a house like yours exists

I mean this as the highest compliment I could possibly give someone, but when you're showing off the cool and interesting objects you've acquired, I get strong Willy Wonka vibes, and it's delightful. Like when you said at the end, "I hope you enjoyed this; I know it's a little strange" I felt like I had just completed an incredible curated, aesthetic journey.
I also have a used tea bag bowl! I like to save them up so I can cut them open and feed the leaves to houseplants (because bags sometimes contain plastic). But tea leaves are generally really great to dump on any composting type situation!
That cooking pot is called "vision ware". My grandparents have a set they never use, lol. They have theirs on display. I love the pink cup and saucer. They remind me of a grown up version of a tea party set.
One word of warning about the smoked glass pots. Make sure that you buy or make something to hold the handle with, like a pot holder that slides onto the handle. We had them back in the 80s and I burnt my hand really badly on one, the handle heated up. The yellow leaf dish is Japanese made , they made lots of beautiful plates and bowls in that style, all different colours. Love the pink meatloaf and casserole dishes.
I lived through the original smoked glass era. Not my cup of tea, but love the other art glass like the berry dish. It is so great to see how excited you are for it. Getting your 1st house, all your hard work, and watching my daughter do the same at the same time warms my heart. Circle of life stuff.
I am just watching, "the things I 've purchased for my unrenovated kitchen" which I really loved. As a matter of fact I love all your videos. Actually the glass pot (or ceramic) is a very healthy alternative to cooking things. I have a bunch of them in different sizes, the food will taste better with no metal taste especially when you cook tomatoes. Also when you store glass pots keep the lid upside down in the pot so you won't accidently hit the lid handle getting it in and out of the cupboards. Also in between glass casserole dishes, pots and what have you, put coffee filters or pot holders in between to help prevent accidental hits. Can't wait for your kitchen redo, it seems like you're ready!
I love how you're carefully curating items in your house. slowly doing the same thing in my home. also a mid century modern vibe but more "60s/70s rustic" pallette 😊
I have remodeled and decorated eight houses and buying accessories first is a great way to come up with a design plan. In my first house I bought a beautiful blue lamp before I even had furniture. I loved it so much and still have it over 40 years later.

Like it looks like a bunch of circles nestled together? Anyway, I use it for spice bread, cakes etc and every time I turn something out of it and it's just immediately a decorative food I'm just thrilled. Powdered sugar dusted on top with fresh berries? Makes me feel like I work in a patisserie every time lol 😆 Beautiful pieces you have picked out. I had no idea about the lamp trend but I realized I have one in my kitchen lol. I have a spot that doesn't get enough light so I put a gilded one up on a shelf to compensate. I put green glass and various decorative metal bits under it to take advantage of that light. Also, the vase? Yes it's great for flowers but keep it in mind if you happen upon any large feathers in the yard. Or particularly beautiful sticks etc.... lol sorry. I've been collecting all my life and it makes me excited to see someone kind of starting from scratch
I love how you romanticize small daily tasks! Yes, a small plate as a used teabag holder gets the job done, but having a gorgeous bowl just adds a little excitement. It’s finding pleasure in the little things and I adore it 💖

I like the journey! And also the lamps!!! Yes I love lamp. I hate overhead fluorescent lighting (I'm light sensitive and get migraines) I have only come to this conclusion in the last few years, but I LOVE the glow of lamps. It appeals to me! I love colored glass. My office candy dish looks a lot like your teabag bowl. I have a larger one that I've yet to find a use for. I think its destined to be a teabag graveyard. Great idea!
I can tell that you are excited to renovate your kitchen and because kitchens are so expensive to renovate it can take time to finish. Don’t get discouraged if it takes a while to finish. Like your style.
I too am drawn to strange decor items, like I have a little pitcher collection because it appeals to me! I’ve just been waiting a little impatiently for your videos after I binge watched the first collection of home ones. You are adorable, so I’ll keep waiting.
I have to say, glass cookware is so much better than metal! It lasts so much longer and is easier to clean, more hygienic and doesn't have to be coated in toxic metals to make it none-stick.
I think it's really cool to see other booktubers I've watched for years get their own homes and take pride in how it looks! I'm also in my late 20s and am in a similar stage of life. It's fun to see others grow and expand their interests 😊
Smoked glass pot reminds me of the visionware brand, my mom hates it because it cooks hot and burns her mashed potatoes 😂 aesthetically pleasing for me though
That was so much fun🤗 because half of the things that you showed, I grew up with the sink, the dishes the glassware, and the lambs. all my stars! I'm old..!!!!😫lol!
i am OBSESSED with kitchen appliances and kitchenwear honestly there are very few things more exciting to spend money on than stuff to use in the kitchen
Hi Ariel! There are 2 trends that align with your collection. 1️⃣ "Romanticize your life" where you curate everything in your home and life with the aim of daily happiness. 2️⃣ "The Marie Kondo method for organizing" And the phrase "Does it spark joy?"
me seeing you get excited about the textured green bowl and pink dishes is making me excited (and there are tons near me at the thrift) and im just like "i want to find things and PO them to you"
I love the pink stuff. When I saw the mug and plate combo… „shut up!”. I got pink kitchen stuff too. Lots of pastels. And blue and green. I love it ☺️🤍
Every one of your videos is like hanging out with a friend. You make me excited about whatever you are doing. I have thought little about smoked glass. Now I'm obsessed. I am not renovation a kitchen...... I might now, though.
I always feel like the ritual of turning the lamps on and off at the start and end of evening comes around too quickly each day! I didn't even realise that was such a relatable experience until you said it out loud 👵
That no name print!! I have a magnet on my fridge, it must be from the same artist. It has a no name mac and cheese box that says 'no money' and a no name beer bottle that says 'no worries'. I got the magnet from the Stay Home Club. Love it!
I love the personality shown in your home and that you are doing all this yourself so I can’t wait to see what’s going to be a great retro inspired kitchen!
Holds up bread pan, "idk what this is but it's nice", holds up casserole pan "Definitely a casserole pan, Idk about casserole but we used it for bread". Such a mood
My grandmother and my mom always collected colored glass and I also am attracted to it. It looks so pretty in front of a window where the light can shine through it! An easy way to clean narrow vases is to pick up some efferent tablets. Fill w hot water and drop one in. When the water becomes clear, it’s done. Just rinse well! (I got this tip from a Women’s Day or Family Circle magazine years ago and it works! ✨ 🌷
👋 colored glass enthusiast right here. Proud and shameless. My first ever Pyrex purchase was a purple glass casserole dish and now I collect vintage glassware.
In Australia we used to have the exact packaging that is on that picture, it was just called Black and Gold brand food that was mad cheap (got replaced by supermarket branding stuff in the 00s though)
I’ve followed you somewhat haphazardly the past couple years, however I’ve recently binged all of your house reno videos (even the ones I had already watched)! Your enthusiasm is so fun to watch!
Your aesthetic is different from mine but I love how much you love and appreciate the detailed craftsmanship that go into individual pieces, whether they are art or glass or anything else. And as always, your enthusiasm helps me jumpstart my mornings. I thank you!
Yes, lamps on kitchen countertops are a thing. We just redid our kitchen and I placed a mini lamp on a small wood pedestal. Then I put a low wattage bulb in it and turn it on at night. It gives this soft, welcoming glow when you go in to raid the last piece of cake. Building a room takes time, lots of thinking, comparisons and forethought. What you will end up with is a kitchen that is ~you~. It’s worth it.
Lol I liked it just because 1) I like home decor 2) I’m nosy about what people put in their house and 3) I also just like weird cool home finds lol. Your style is amazing, thanks for sharing!
I have the same leaf/berries dish but in orange carnival glass! I’ve also see the green one in the thrift store and regret getting it :/ One of my favorite pieces for sure though!
I have a pink baking pan similar to the one you have. I found it at the grocery store and couldn't resist buying it. I believe the green bowl you use for tea bags is pressed glass.
We have a smoked glass double boiler that looks a lot like that pot! It was my great grandmother’s. She also had these really funky green glass goblets that look… melted? Knobby? Bubbly? Old kitchenware is so fascinating lol
I used to acquire items for rooms we were working on as a way to deal with how long DIY takes. Love your pieces! As an actual MCM human I have to say your lampshade is more 1930’s. We swung back that way in the 70’s for kind of a retro Victorian thing. Though I suppose a house as old as yours can contain all the times!
Yes! Colored glass enthusiasts all the way! My vanity has slowly become a horde of colored glass, I have a pink frosted swan dish that I bought a couple months ago for no good reason, but I love it!
Being an adult is knowing in your soul that decorative glass is sexy.
Being an adult is when you go to the bathroom at school and it says Women on the door.

Then again being an adult was when I had a child and I took care of him.
I think I've been an adult since I was 13 then... I asked for coasters for my birthday, and it is still to this day the best gift ever! XD

I suggest a book which looks ordinary but the knowledge is extraordinary- (Secrets of sanatan dharma) Author sai prasad panda..
fruit bowl!!!!!
Hot tip. Dried tea bags can be used as firefighters (something to burn to start a fire)
I have the pink glass bakeware set! They also have a pie dish and an 8x8 square baking dish.
I just love how mad you can go when you have your own space! 😆 no rules or boundaries stopping you - very excited to see everything come together 💛
I LOVE collecting colored vintage glass! 🌈 It's one of my favorite passions. I'm glad that you see the beauty in them. Those smoked glasses are bomb 🥂
That was so much fun🤗 because half of the things that you showed, I grew up with the sink, the dishes the glassware, and the lambs. all my stars! I'm old..!!!!😫lol!
Omg!! I literally saw a green leaf bowl just like that one at my local thrift store! I regret not buying now we could’ve been bowl twins
omg i've never been bowl twins with anyone hahhaha
Anything leaf is mine.
i am OBSESSED with kitchen appliances and kitchenwear honestly there are very few things more exciting to spend money on than stuff to use in the kitchen
I use the "big casserole" dish for roasted vegetables and roasted potatoes and stuff! I never make casseroles. Also great for lasagna!
I get it girl. I have a milk glass collection!
Depression glass is so stunning
Ariel I thought you would say that you use the tea bags for your plants or garden. Look it up when you get a minute- they are great fertilizers.
Holds up bread pan, "idk what this is but it's nice", holds up casserole pan "Definitely a casserole pan, Idk about casserole but we used it for bread".
Such a mood
I'll watch you talking about home decor pieces you're excited about any day. Interior design is my favorite way to occupy my brain.
I love that the brown outfit and long shiny hair complements all of your smoked glass and brown purchases so well!
I feel like the lamp would go so well in a tea / wine corner since it matches your glassware so well!
I’m so beyond excited to see this kitchen renovated!! ✨💗
So much better than a nite light.
i love the way you say 2-3 cups of tea a day like that's a lot when i'm sitting here drinking probably my 5th or 6th of the day
Milk glass is pretty neat too.
Her little giggle when the box fell over was so cute!
Lol I liked it just because 1) I like home decor 2) I’m nosy about what people put in their house and 3) I also just like weird cool home finds lol. Your style is amazing, thanks for sharing!
hearing ariel praise a lamp is the best thing i have seen so far this week and i cherish it, the lamp and her most of all.
You should have called your YT channel "A Breath of Fresh Air" because that's what you are! So much fun to watch!
I didn’t realize I was also a colored/smoked glass enthusiast BUT I AM - this content brings me such ~joy~
We have a smoked glass double boiler that looks a lot like that pot! It was my great grandmother’s. She also had these really funky green glass goblets that look… melted? Knobby? Bubbly? Old kitchenware is so fascinating lol
Check the marks on the bottom. I'll bet half a dollar that it says "Pyrex Visions" and that yer great-g'ma bought it in the 70s.
Miss you. Hope things are well and that you’re busy with renovations and reading! 🙂
your taste is delightful!! the lamp shade!! pink glass! smoked glass! the berry bowl! delightful!!!
That fridge is a DREAM!!!
I literally have all the glassware just from my parents and grandparents collections - like exactly or almost exactly the same items - all of them!
Yes! Colored glass enthusiasts all the way!
My vanity has slowly become a horde of colored glass, I have a pink frosted swan dish that I bought a couple months ago for no good reason, but I love it!
We have the same wine glasses! They are indeed vintage from the 1970s. I also have some coordinating water glasses that have birds on them.
I love everything. That's exactly how I decorate - vintage collected over time.
