You are absolutely right! We MUST VOTE! We have already proven that change can happen when we all get out there. I truly believe that more people are good than not. More people are aware than not. PLEASE VOTE!
Jonathan, thank you so much for using your voice to encourage people to vote. I agree totally with you. I am 70 and have voted ever since i was able. I have been a teacher for 32 years, in community college for 22. I taught many diverse students using social justice curriculum. I also encouraged my students to VOTE!!! Presently, I am semi-retired. I work during the school year as a substitute Headstart teacher with 4 and 5 year olds. Playing with them and helping them learn how to solve their problems is the best. I get so much "love" energy from them and give caring energy back.. My summer job is at a small clothing boutique. You would like it there. I love all of the Fab 5 so much and appreciate that all of you help so many people. Much love and blessings to you and your partner and the rest of the Fab 5 team.
I completely agree with you about the reshaping because it was all set in motion and I thank you for taking time to continue to share with us who are willing to listen ❤
Good for you Jonathan! Thanks for the post. We all needed to hear this right now, cause it's getting pretty darn depressing being an American. Positivity and action, that's what we need, that and a boat-load of compassion for the dim-wits that are hell-bent on stripping us of our rights.
I appreciate your passion and drive. You are right, we cannot change the minds of the bigoted but they sure are charging up the youth to get be involved and get out and vote 💙🌈 much love from STL.
G'day USA, I just want to let you know that people overseas are worried for you. We watched in horror as Roe v. Wade was overturned, and we have been equally horrified at the erosion of your rights since. Even from a distance, it's a nightmare. Please, don't give up. There's a lot of evidence that says that when women, persons of colour, and LGBTQIA+ folk in the USA become disenchanted and disheartened, that's when these extreme republicans get seats. Those people want you to think your voice won't be heard, because they need that to win. Don't give up. Get out and vote. Love and best wishes, A queer Aussie.
We have to keep joining forces! Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino counties was just a sponsor of the OC Pride fest last month in CA and we have to support each other-many laws are trying to control women’s bodies and LGBTQIA bodies and we have to stop them together. 🏳️🌈
Thanks for the concern. It's upsetting, to say the least, but we've only begun to fight and we can and will win in the end. Love always wins in the end. And the demographics over time are NOT in the GOP's favor.
I'm a 51 year old, bisexual, Jewish mama of 3 grown kids, 2 of which are trans. And we live in the US. Yeah, it's scary right now. But the awful people are shrinking in numbers. I think this is what the middle-aged Israelites felt like in the wilderness, waiting for the stubborn, older generation that couldn't handle (even positive) change to just die off, so the rest of us could move forward. Hold on everyone, it will get better, and we're going to make sure of that! 🙏❤🏳🌈🏳⚧
Columbus, Ohio is all over this issue… even if so much of this state has their heads in the sand. I wish you could have seen the Independence Day Doo-Dah parade here today. It was fab. 🌈
JVN!!! Thank you SO much for this!!! It gave me goosebumps. I wholly appreciate your integrity. It's as deep as your beauty. I've had those same conversations where (mostly young) people don't think that their vote matters and it's heartbreaking. We must be committed to helping these folx vote and this can't wait. We have to do what it takes and now.
My whole happiness outlook is based on my hopes for Gen Z and Gen Y. I am Gen X and I did not know we could turn this "hate rhetoric" around until I saw the strength and love pouring out from these beautiful Kids!! Our people of Gen Z and Gen Y are our love warriors. Please get involved in running, voting, and electing people who will make this country better for everyone. Love is the only answer so please vote for candidates that will change this country. I love all of you people in the younger generations! 💖💖💖💖💖💖
Exactly!! We aren't going to get through to the Republicans. It's the people who don't currently vote that can turn the tide in an instant. I'm lucky to live in California where it's a super simple process by mail-in ballott. Every voter should be demanding accessibility to vote. They make it complicated for a reason. Don't allow it! VOTE
If mail-in ballots were available nationwide, Republicans would NEVER win another election again. The Democrats need to find a way to legally make it happen as voting IS a right.
100%. Amen. Absolutely. I get it. We're all upset and it's easy to throw up your hands and say "f it, I'm not voting." But if even a small percentage of those non-voters DID vote, we could change this nation into something we're more proud of, a nation that invests in its people with healthcare for all, invests in education, and upholds TRUE freedom for everyone. YA GOTTA VOTE! Are we going to get politicians that are perfect, with whom we agree 100% of the time? NO. But we DO need to vote for the ones that best represent our values, from the choices we're given. Please. Vote.
Thank you for always speaking about politics and explaining it in a way that's easy to understand. It's always helpful when someone provides a game plan instead of the usual basic performative politics we're used to seeing with other celebrities. I can honestly tell anyone who is on the fence about voting to just do it. You'll go through life knowing you did as much as you could to avoid your/our lives heading into shambles.
I moved in 2015 and forgot to move my voter registration in time for the democratic primary in 2016. I remember specifically being heartbroken that I couldn't vote for Bernie for the primary. I really appreciate my civics teacher in high school making a concerted effort to get every student over 18 all the paperwork they needed to register to vote. I appreciate her advocacy for our rights and patience in explaining that our work was required to give us time off to vote on election days. It made all the difference to me and as I get older the tricks that are played to strip minorities, impoverished, and even just progressive areas are that much more evident to me.
You are one of my favorite educators on politics. 👏🏼 I learned so much from your show Getting Curious and this video about how our government and voting structures function. Thank you!!! And it's just 100% better to learn about these subjects from a fellow enby who is such a solid advocate for queer rights. When you talk elections and gay rights, I'm. Hooked. Again THANK YOU 🎉 🌈 🫶🏼 🗳️ (I think this is a ballot box emoji, but it looks like a tissue box. Oh well!)
I hear you. I choose to think about Frederick Douglass’ famous speech today: edsitement.neh.gov/student-activities/frederick-douglasss-what-slave-fourth-july
We need to talk about politics to our love ones, friends and family cause there’s so much miss information and we can make a difference in the decision they make to vote. Knowledge is Power.
If your vote didn't matter, nobody would ever waste the effort to say *out loud* that it didn't matter. If anyone says that to you, they are actively trying to discourage you from voting. Love you, JVN. ❤
Thank you for this! It's what I tell my grown kids, VOTE. Even if it doesn't go our way every time, it's worth doing! I have severe anxiety so I vote by mail, and I recommend that folks who have a hard time getting to polling places for any reason do the same. 🙏❤🏳🌈🏳⚧
Love ya to the moon and back, gorge! Brazil also claims Americans to vote. Your power can make a huge impact on the conservative reaction wave expected for the entire continent's next election cycles.
Thank you Jonathan for explaining that. I love your hair products- they have changed my life. AND I love that painting behind you in this video-- wondering if it is an original and who it is painted by because it is fab
Thank you!!!! Yes, we need to see a bigger turnout. Every vote counts. We won’t change made up minds, but we can make a difference by motivating those that don’t participate in elections because they think their vote won’t matter.
ONE HUNDRED PERCENT!!!! Each one of those people who thinks the are one tiny vote that means nothing forgets that there are MILLIONS OF THEM. If every one of us got ONE other person to vote, that would be an enormous wave of change. I have my person picked. I’m here in the middle of Texas where I just KNOW we can turn things around. Things weren’t truly awful here until stupid yucky GWB beat Ann Richards for Governor! WE CAN DO THIS!!!
It should also be acknowledged that any one vote, taken by itself likely doesn’t matter all that much (validating the persons feeling) but then pointing out that it’s the sum of the total that does matter and if you don’t contribute to that total then there is no way to keep decency and fascism at bay. A journey of 500 miles occurs because of every one step that was taken, if a step isn’t taken then the journey can’t be completed, even though that one step doesn’t seem like it’s all that important.
Although pride month is over the fact that we are still facing a lot of discrimination amongst the LGBTQ+ community and although I didn't want to celebrate the 4th of July it is important that we use our voices to be heard even to those who may not vote because nature's not to I hope they realize that it is important to vote it is important to use or voices even if you don't care at least do it for us at least do it for the queer kids out there who feel as if they are being targeted I'm a queer woman myself I keep stressing to people out there to vote as if their lives depended on it Make your voice heard
But we also need to do is fight for Equitable public education. And I don't just mean educating people about the history of racism and slavery, or educating people about lgbtqia issues. I mean making sure that every high school student get at least half a semester of civics education. Because it's in their Civics classes that we learn how the Democratic process actually works. It's in those Civics classes where we learn why gerrymandering is such a problem. It's in their Civics classes where we connect the dots between voting for your local mayor, Senator, state representative, affects the way government is run throughout the country. If you'll notice schools in wealthier neighborhoods have better access to education and actually learn about how to become informed citizens. But schools in low-income neighborhoods or schools in areas we're public funds have been eaten up by Charter Schools or private schools tend not to be able to educate their students as well. And students are future voters. I remember in the 2016 election I spoke to people who are in their forties who have never voted in their life. So we're talking about Generations upon generations of people who are just uneducated about the importance of voting.
Supreme Court Justices Thomas & Alito will almost certainly retire in the next presidential term given their age and if a Democrat is elected for President, they will seat progressive Justices and balance shit out, which we so desperately need. Your vote ALWAYS matters.
YES! It needs to be said! People believing their vote doesn't matter is how we slowly lose any influence we have. We've got to keep fighting!
Absolutely! You are right on! Thank you for putting this out there. I'm 65 years old and know how crucial our votes are. Thank you Jonathan!
You are absolutely right! We MUST VOTE! We have already proven that change can happen when we all get out there. I truly believe that more people are good than not. More people are aware than not. PLEASE VOTE!
I agree with everything you said. Keep your light glowing.❤

Well said!
Thank you Jonathan. Our voices DO matter and your voice matters. Do your part and vote and don't let anything dim your shine. Anything.

JVN 2024 🇺🇸 🎉
My husband has only voted once in his life and he is 35. A lot of people I know that are independents don’t vote for the same reason. Good point
I respect a person who is registered independent or no party, but I hope more of them will vote. It matters so much.
Politicians ignore non voters, cos of course they do there’s nothing in it for them. Make your vote matter to them.
OMG all of this 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

It is not a real democracy unless we all vote! We need to encourage making it easier to vote too. Because that is an issus too.
More of these important issues please. Use your big broad reach voice. You are influential. Continue. We hear you 👂
If you care about democracy at all, VOTE BLUE ✌🏼

I had a panic attack the day Trump was elected, knowing what would ensue in the future.
If you don't vote, you have no right to complain. Also, voting is more than a right, it's a responsibility.
you don't need a right to complain
Wow, only 50 % of Americans vote, that's so sad. Voting is a privilege not everyone has, use it or you may just loose it.
