I have literally just got hold of a pair of these myself! Very early with the bass units and exactly the same label above the supertweeter! They have a few scratches on the cases but nothing a good rubdown and some oil wouldn't cure. Can't wait to do it. I watch your stuff all the time and look forward to them with childlike enthusiasm. 😊😊 Keep it up and regards from an avid follower. Doug.
oh white , yes early . the later version , they also used lots of glue on the caps , what a pain ., use a small bread knife to saw the glue first if you need to recap . Used Solen , bass was much improved on my pairs, Early versions I have found to be better in terms of caps., Cap meter well worth it , Have many early MA Monitor audio , some have topic fish caps (they are a very special cap ) .....ya really like the stuff you do Mat
Brilliant to watch you how did you get into repairing speakers? Did you work for a speaker company? And what do they call that Solution for cleaning the rubber Surround . Many thanks Peter 😊 😊
@@peterdavidthompson4876 I'll be doing a video on my background soon as I get asked a lot 🤩. I clean with isopropyl alcohol and treat with Carbusonic rubber conditioner
Nice as always. I have 2 pairs of their big brothers DM2's that I'm sorting out soon. The speaker cloth on the DM2's are really heavy Nylon I think, have you seen them? Id like to replace it. But I'm not sure what with.
Hi Matt. As always, an exceptionally interesting video and great learning experience. Thank you. ❤

Thanks for this informative video! Do you know a drop in replacement option for the bass driver / woofer? Cheers!
@@hnu-v8k Only the original 200/4. I might have one. Email me. info@haycrossaudio.co.uk

Have a pair first gen Dm2s , they are crazy good ,
Why does the super tweeter not maintain output at the level of the tweeter? Is it just less sensitive?
@@mfr58 It improves off axis which is likely the way it was voiced. Looking back at other DM4 measurements I've taken there all pretty much the same
B&W haven’t leaned over the years as the white surrounds of the DM600 series go hard as well and they’re 20 years younger
Busy day🤣🤣
What cloth do you use to redo the covers please?

At the time of my viewing this it is the final day of the 50th year!
Any repair necessary is forgiven. 😉
@@Finn-McCool I didn't even consider that. That's cool. 50 years today. They have done well 🤩
Never seen a sealed back woofer before
