The Ori story arc gave a fine explanation why the ascended ancients are seemingly so uncaring. Interfering, and using their power may not just cause a catastrophy amongst the lesser beings, but it might also put the seeds of god complex amongs their ranks. A few thousand years mean nothing to them.

At least, that is their rationalization. The Ori story arc, along with all the other arcs that went into detail about "ascended beings", made it clear that ascension has nothing to do with either goodness or wisdom, nor does it have anything to do with the afterlife. It's an upgrading of the body, with greatly enhanced ability to affect the physical world and to perform technical calculations. That may leave it desirable, but it is much less profound than it had originally been presented as.

They were but it was totally understandable. Interfering with the lower realm was not a good idea, I mean sure you could interfere with having the best of intention but where do you draw the line then ? That's probably how the Ori started, "with the best of intention". Everything wrong with the ascended was caused in fact by some ascended being that decided to interfere. Their philosophy was solid, it pissed me off but it made total sense.

Ori, Wraith, replicators (asurans), and Goa'uld were all enemies that emerged over humans because of the ancients. Either through using their tech, created by them, or arrogantly cast aside they all proceeded to rule over human worlds. That is why they owe them assistance. Merely cleaning up their mistakes.

Anubis being half ascended meant that technically Oma couldn't interfere with him (since he still partially resided in our realm of existence). She had to fully ascend him in order to fight them but since their power is roughly equal the battle would be a perpetual stalemate.

no. The Ancients had dropped him back to mortal status. He was trying to ascend again to match their level.
His limits were that he could not use ascended powers otherwise he would incur their wrath and they would eliminate him.
What Omar did was to attack him and make him use his powers to defend himself. Forcing the others to take action against him for breaking the rules.
He could use his ascended knowledge to conquer the mortal realms and do anything he could have done in his own mortal life.. Including ascend.
Omar was the one who helped him ascend in the first place over 1000 years earlier and that is why she was charged with watching over him... Unable to do anything to stop him. Unwilling to kill him. Until Daniel helped her to understand Her duty.

I've used this strategy to defend other people. Or even to defend myself (Or piss people off). Most people find it annoying to constantly battle you so they give up and go away.

So no, Anubis wasn't killed and the others didn't step in to save Oma and make her mortal and whatnot, they let this happen. They essentially lost one of their best to a pointless eternal fight between the two, because Oma had to learn her lesson. Well she did and this is the price.

The Q were never part of the universe, but rather an adjacent universe altogether, which is why they called themselves a "continuum"; it was separate from the universe, which is why their powers were godlike--they came from a reality so different that reality was like putty to them.
In Babylon 5, the First Ones were like the Ancients: once-corporeal lifeforms evolved into incorporeal ones. But in B5, the First Ones were still mortal, and existed in time/space. In Stargate, they exist in-between, and can move from one to the other, so they have powers and abilities bordering on godhood, whereas in B5 they were very limited.
So it's kind of a mix between the two concepts.

I like to think that this is how Anubis actually is because he's dropped the Goa'uld pretense to become someone more emotional, honest, and visceral and his lower form is just still cosplaying as his old megamaniacal self because he's basically escaped the genetic memory curse that makes them all essentially insane. It's probably how he tricked Oma in the first place before returning to his true evil self but without the self-destructive blindness of most Goa'uld.

ascension is not about being high or on another planet, it's about being on another plain of existence. he was half ascended, they lowered him down so that he would be weaker, but also he is able to interact with humans. which was dickish on their part because he still had ascended knowledge not to mention the means to be able to find and their technology. also if the work together with helping fix problems that would have considerable lowered the risks, the did have almost infinite knowledge.

Anubis was my favorite character in Sg-1 and I'm so sad how they got rid of him. I was always hoping that there would be an episode in Atlantis where Anubis escaped his battle with oma and was now trying to regain his power via Atlantis, it would have been so cool. I doubt that Universe will include any gou'ald (although I have a beef with that series preimere)

Actually, that was because SG-1 got cancelled when they only had 3 episodes left to film for S10, and so they had to find a way to resolve the entire thing within a single movie. The Ori saga was originally planned to span 4 seasons according to Joseph Mallozzi, and the Ori were meant to have survived the detonation of the Sangraal, but that had to be rewritten and they were all unceremoniously destroyed save for Adria.

Don't forget that Anubis had jaffa's who worshiped him as a god just like the Ori. Maybe some of his worshipers were able to empower him a bit to the point that even though he was half ascended he was far more powerful than Daniel

The others could have done things in a way that that the lower races even including members in SG1 wouldn’t have noticed via an invisible hand of god similar to the episode Red Sky where it’s left ambiguous whether the Asgard helped repair the sun or if it was Carter or the episode with the small energy beings behaviour was due to the actions of the humans or the planets rotation.yes non interference is important but the line of non interference has to be drawn when you are dealing with a group who will become powerful than and once they have enslaved the entire galaxy or universe and in turn become more powerful than you then they will then choose to either enslave or kill you.Thats where non interference must no longer be applied and you can do things in a way that the lower humans etc have no way of knowing.They could have aided Merlin build the Sangraal centuries ago and wiped out the Ori and the humans of both the Alteran home galaxy and Milky Way would have never noticed at all.Same goes for Anubis yes Oma was foolish for allowing him to ascend but let’s face it she probably knew his history before he would ascended but he was like th ori.Once he he would have conquered the galaxy he would have wanted to conquer the universe and then conquer the others and the Ori as well.Interference by the Ancients for Anubis and the Ori could have been done by aiding Oma Desala and also Merlin without humans in both galaxies knowing.Hell they should have wiped out the Wraith since technically they created them and like Anubis once they developed intergalactic travel they would have ravaged the Milky Way and Alteran home galaxy and if possible would have developed means to ascend and kill the ancients.The ancients are less indifferent and more sloppy since they themselves directly or indirectly create these problems in EVERY galaxy they enter.They should be interfering in the lower planes discreetly to clean up the messes they created in the first and technically getting rid of the Ori and even Anubis is not interference in the lower planes since its cleaning up
after their own mess in the higher planes.Again you can do interference in these things and nip them in the bud without anyone on the lower planes noticing and it’s better you do because those things will consume everything in the universe including you.They could have left the Gould and Replicators as they were because at least the Asgard can keep them in check and also because the technology exists already to keep them at bay in the form of Dakara and the humans can rebel and develop technologically to fight off the Gould.So I think interference should only occur when it threatens you and is well beyond the ability of humans etc to fight off themselves and it’s a mess you yourself created

@Jerry Mathurin that isn't what Daniel said ... According to him he was kicked out but for some unknown reason he was in a limbo state not human and not ascended... The series had a number of continuity errors in they story lines that conflicted with earlier stories ... They just ignored some issues to facilitate the current plot line

I was thinking...if Oma just could have thought out a strategy to get rid of that p.o.s. , lol. He needed to be weakened just a little bit - being a little weaker than Oma - then she could have dealt with him. She would have needed some help or just a new plan to solve this problem...I mean she was a high being but maybe not too smart, but with a special plan (that was never before conceived) she could have thrown out this guy...I'm not saying that I have a solution since I'm not ascended yet, lol, but still, it's always good to work on a plan, against all odds.

@Finalzero Not necessarily. Since the Ancients live at a higher plane of existence than everyone else, they're probably unaffected by the rules of time as they affect us. So, it's entirely possible that Anubis was still fighting Oma in that reality, even though the "real-time" events leading up to that hadn't actually occurred.

Why should the ascended beings worry about anybody coming after them. It appears they're done with themselves so why should anybody else feel some way?
