So I guess this was WHY Oma was being punished - she needed to atone for empowering Anubis by taking him out of play the only way anyone could. The way the other ascended abruptly started watching her was like they had been waiting for her to act as she did.
Actually, that was because SG-1 got cancelled when they only had 3 episodes left to film for S10, and so they had to find a way to resolve the entire thing within a single movie. The Ori saga was originally planned to span 4 seasons according to Joseph Mallozzi, and the Ori were meant to have survived the detonation of the Sangraal, but that had to be rewritten and they were all unceremoniously destroyed save for Adria.
Why should the ascended beings worry about anybody coming after them. It appears they're done with themselves so why should anybody else feel some way?
I was thinking...if Oma just could have thought out a strategy to get rid of that p.o.s. , lol. He needed to be weakened just a little bit - being a little weaker than Oma - then she could have dealt with him. She would have needed some help or just a new plan to solve this problem...I mean she was a high being but maybe not too smart, but with a special plan (that was never before conceived) she could have thrown out this guy...I'm not saying that I have a solution since I'm not ascended yet, lol, but still, it's always good to work on a plan, against all odds.
Funny part of this is when the ancients are looking at Daniel afterwards like you are going back to your original lv of existence.. now! Honestly if they let oma fight or kill Anubis I don't think they would've minded letting Daniel as an ascended to do his thing back in season 6 in orbit above Abydos when he was about to wipe Anubis out from existence but Oma feared they'd punish him.
I like to think that this is how Anubis actually is because he's dropped the Goa'uld pretense to become someone more emotional, honest, and visceral and his lower form is just still cosplaying as his old megamaniacal self because he's basically escaped the genetic memory curse that makes them all essentially insane. It's probably how he tricked Oma in the first place before returning to his true evil self but without the self-destructive blindness of most Goa'uld.
That is such an important lesson to learn. "There's nothing you can do. You can't defeat me." "But I can." "You can't defeat me either." "It doesn't matter. You won't be able to do anything but fight me back." I've used this strategy to defend other people. Or even to defend myself (Or piss people off). Most people find it annoying to constantly battle you so they give up and go away. This episode was an eye opener for me and it's one of my favourite.
Like Data plating Origami with a master. He knew he couldn’t beat him but he could play him in a defensive manner without trying to win. The guy got very frustrated and quit.
When I was a kid. I hated the a ascended… thinking they were uncaring omniscient beings. But as an adult I understood them and respected them more. They knew that they were too powerful to interfere. They understood it wasn’t their place. They don’t want to become an unchanging godly power.
I really hated the ancients in this entire show. A bunch of self centered, arrogant "higher" beings perfectly fine seeing galactic scale genocide and slavery unfold. If I stand by a watch a man I could help be brutally tortured and murdered. That makes me an accomplice.
They never interfere so that there is never the risk of creating another Anubis. He is exactly the reason why they don't interfere. So that the only people who ever make it to Ascension are the ones who are not like Anubis. Even 1 is too much. It makes sense if you think about the recent they don't help others ascend is so that you don't help the wrong person which is the law of averages is true is bound to happen. Which is exactly what happened here
The ascended Ancient of SG1 are so wise to me. I know people don't understand their choice but I think it is because of a philosophical discordance in which we humans value life more than anything. The Ancient see a bigger picture of cosmological order and the importance of self determination for the lower dimensions. But it is even more complex than that.
The prime directive and the ascended rule of non-interference is very wise in that it is meant to prevent beings from corrupting the way of the universe. That is absolutely wise. But the ancients left two galaxies in slavery. Wraith hunting humans like cattle and the Goa’uld massing their followers along with the ori. They made a mess and they should have at least helped when other ascended beings were in the lower planes. But they didn’t. Humans were left to handle it.
When you are so powerful on the level of being omnipotent, your power can be dangerous and destructive to lesser beings. Your power is so immense that you become unable to scale it down to the surgical precision needed to help lesser beings without also causing them harm.
make no sense for a half ascended to battle a full powered one for all eternity. Most likelly she killed him off, ascended can be killed as proven in stargate.
if they done this like a dream and memory sequence of Daniels previous ascension and current over the whole season, it would have been a great reveal, especially if there was more chit chat between Daniel and Jim and Jim descbribing his love of coffee and interest in Daniel's adventures
Unspoken after Oma and Anubis Depart: "Well, Dr. Jackson, you can't stay here, because you don't really have the discipline to remain, and frankly, we find your presence irritating. So we're going to send you back. Good news, we're not even going to wipe your memories this time. Because there's something we want to take back with you. A little souvenir for you to bear firmly in mind: Ascension is meant to be an accomplishment, the final evolution of a corporeal life form. It is not to be used as a 'Get Out Of Death Free Card.' You won't see this place again before you really, really deserve to."
the ascended beings crap was the low mark of the series once that stuff got introduced in like season 4? I just kind of lost the interest I had in the earlier episodes it came back because they dropped it but once it start being a core part I just sort of tuned out.
I always loved the fact that Anubis was an immortal enemy, nothing could kill him in fact!
one of my favorites: daniel ascended. Great story line
One day Jim going to run into Adria who is also busy duking it out...
Granny and Bill, hills diner, circa 2022. Colorized and animated.
Granny, the fuck he do to piss you off that bad?
I'm sure I'm going to be called dumb, or not, but I think all the people in that palce are The Ascended Ancients.
Weirdest diner ever.
Ascension: Eternal sloth/voyeurism. Q Continuum: Power of a god (just don't provoke The Borg!).
Cheque Please!
Anubis clone got away come back fight earth 🌏
Well thank goodness! Now we don't have to worry about any more threats to the galaxy for- *"HALLOWED ARE THE ORI!"*
Uncle ben: with great power, comes great responsibility. Ascended: with great power, we won't take responsibility
1st time to watched this video clip after 15 years since it was uploaded here in RUclips. ( April 09, 2024 / 2:52 pm Philippines time / Tuesday )
Mormon bs
I for one would have welcomed being entangled with Oma! Mmmm! So fine! lol
Thank you for being considerate of deaf people and ensuring closed captions are available.
Maybe after Morgana finished up, she came to help.
" I have come to make a deal with you" " You can't win" " No, but I can lose over and over and over and over again" 😂
So I guess this was WHY Oma was being punished - she needed to atone for empowering Anubis by taking him out of play the only way anyone could. The way the other ascended abruptly started watching her was like they had been waiting for her to act as she did.
This is the same diner set used in "Dead Like Me".
This was Stargate's answer to several big baddies, since they did the same thing to tie up Adria's arc.

To come to such a non-dramatic end at Der Waffle Haus
Sad thing is Oma has to fight anubis for eternity now. That's her curse and sad fate.
I want to know the exact details of what she ended up doing. Because he went from cocky to terrified real fast.
Okay, something I don't get: how did Daniel ascend (and then take on human form again) if Alma was gone?
The Others sent him back. Same with stopping the self destruct.
@@OtakuMegane the other didn't seem to care.
Why should the ascended beings worry about anybody coming after them. It appears they're done with themselves so why should anybody else feel some way?
Only Oma Desala can save humanity from Anubis.

2 Ascended beings in Eternal war. What a sacrifice she made.

O'malley!!! Whoops, wrong series...

Reading from the Karen handbook of combat I see.

How did Daniel ascend without Oma?
So much for Anubis's Grand plan.
I really hated the ancients in this entire show. A bunch of self centered, arrogant "higher" beings perfectly fine seeing galactic scale genocide and slavery unfold. If I stand by a watch a man I could help be brutally tortured and murdered. That makes me an accomplice.

I like the idea of bob being stuck in a never ending battle
So, when you ascend, all what you are basically allowed is to sit in a road cafe and enjoy your meal?
The prime directive and the ascended rule of non-interference is very wise in that it is meant to prevent beings from corrupting the way of the universe. That is absolutely wise. But the ancients left two galaxies in slavery. Wraith hunting humans like cattle and the Goa’uld massing their followers along with the ori. Ah, the end of Adoofus. Fitting that Oma had to finally give herself to fighting her mistake forever just to keep him from harming anyone else.
Daniel - "Oh. Hey everyone. Nice to see you can look up from your meals once in a while and actually notice what's going on in the cosmos."
When you are so powerful on the level of being omnipotent, your power can be dangerous and destructive to lesser beings. Your power is so immense that you become unable to scale it down to the surgical precision needed to help lesser beings without also causing them harm.

The Ascended are very much a parody of the 1%. Nothing "lesser" people do or are mean anything to them.
if they done this like a dream and memory sequence of Daniels previous ascension and current over the whole season, it would have been a great reveal, especially if there was more chit chat between Daniel and Jim and Jim descbribing his love of coffee and interest in Daniel's adventures
Isn't this the dinner from, Dead like me?
why Oma did not do that in the first place?
