The Alpine was an extraordinary car. 1300cc ( was slightly bigger as they put bigger sleeves in the Engine ). Nearly 160 at Le Mans & they were reliable. The other extraordinary car was the Carrera 6 (the 906) and the 908 a couple of years later were just as remarkable. Someone mentioned safety cars. See if you can find video of the 1966 12 hour race and the rain storm. Literally the cars were like boats , no safety car.

feel so bad when the drivers crash because of how expensive those cars are now, like 10x the price and even if theyre billionares the time and part for repairs would be so much more difficult (unless its a kit car)

La Porsche 917 était une voiture dangereuse...
Rappelons que pour bénéficier d'un 5 litres, c'était une voiture effectivement commercialisée. Aussi lors de sa première apparition au Mans, malheureusement, un pilote se tua à son volant.
Cependant, le danger était aussi amplement lié au pilote derrière le volant.
Rappelons ce qu'en faisait Mark Donohue avec 1500 chevaux.... et sans différentiel.

Good point. I guess there aren't many 72 and later Ferrari 312P, Matra 660, Alfa 33TT3, Lola T280 and the like, so it was allowed here.

Everyone knows that 90 per cent of the spectators are Brits who made the journey and 90 percent of the race technology is British so why do we always have to suffer French commentators droning on with their drivel almost exclusively with the occasional British interlude. It’s time we had a whip round and bought the circuit France is virtually bust anyway.
Britain is also bust.
Thankfully a large majority of british people are way more respectfull than you are when they come in Le Mans, it's a french race, invented by the french, organise by the french and taking place in le mans, a french city, for more than 100 years so fuck you and by the way there is not 90% of british spectators this is totally bullshit and I would say only around 20% of Le Mans winners manufactors are english.

@@ernestogasulla7763 Sorry If I may seem rude, but that's a total bullshit. 24 hours of Le Mans is commented in lots of languages and it's in France, F1 is not french but it's commented in almost every language, movies, etc...
