- Overheating My Xbox One S & X To See What Happens! What does an overheating Xbox One S or X look like? Many people don't know the answer to that question and think that if their console is hot to the touch or blowing really hot air out the back that means it's too hot and it needs to be repaired. That's not the case. If an Xbox One S or X starts getting too hot it will turn itself off. This means that if your console feels hot but doesn't turn itself off then it's not actually getting too hot.
As games get larger and more demanding this will be an increasingly common problem. Don't be fooled! This video shows you exactly what happens when an Xbox One S and X overheats. Unless yours is doing exactly what the video shows then yours most likely does not need to be repaired.

Allthough many 360s did have overheating issues, it's mainly just because microsoft crammed the hardware into the console because they rushed the xbox 360 around during launch. But yeah, I would agree.

TronicsFix LLC and how do people send there consoles to you I can't find the screws for putting the case back on please help me so right now I am using the ps4 without the case and I can see the fan spinning it's quite good because the pa4 gets more fresh are and it never ever lags not even one bit and like that when the ps4 is on with the fan spinning I feel where the are comes out from and it's warm and cold are but it's so much coming out this time it's amazing 😎😎

I was worried about my own fan because of fallout 4 crashes, but fallout 4 is just a buggy glitchy game that isn't optimized super well for the Xbox one and PS4. I've never had my console shut down on me or anything like that. I was also concerned about the fan area getting warm, but apparently that means the hot air is coming out the top and the one s is working as intended. Point is my fan is definitely still doing something because I can play the console for 4,5,6 8 hours without it just turning off. Also I have no issues from any other game. Downtown Boston in fallout 4 is so poorly optimized it made me think my console had issues.

The only time I managed to overheat an Xbox one console was when i stood up the original model upright (it is not supposed to stand upright, it blocks the lower vent) and after an hour of playing the fan just ramped up to max speed. I don't think it'd reach critical temps, but it definitely reached PS4 levels of loudness.

Thanks so much for making this!! My Xbox just started randomly turning off yesterday, and I was worried it was something internally within the Xbox, but I never got a message when turning it back on... and come to think of it I couldn’t turn it back on without doing a power cycle reset (correct me if I’m wrong) So yeah... I think it’s safe to assume the problem is within the powerbrick, which should be a cheap fix.
Your channel inspired me to start fixing my own electronics. So far just fixed my tv but I wish I would of saved some of my other broken electronics. Very cool channel

He is showing off that if you watch the full video, Microsoft had found a way to prevent the pain that came from the "Red Ring of Death" that killed many an X-Box 360....an issue that may have not have helped sales of the X-Box One.
TronicsFix LLC please do the ps2 and PS3 but the ps1 doesn't have a fan because it's Sonys first ever console but the fat ps2 has a fan and ps2 slim as well and the original PS3 has a fan as well and the PS3 slim fat has a fan as well and the PS3 super slim has a fan as well.
But use witch ever ps2 and PS3 you want its up to you really

I can honestly say I've not experienced any of my consoles overheating in my lifetime thus far! I was worried that my one x's odd behaviour could be a result of over heating but it never shuts down or gives the error message for over heating (I suspect it would have done in your video if not for the update).
Still it's nice to know what will happen should it over heat and what to expect afterwards.

Kind of worried-everyone, including you, said it would give you a warning when it powered off. That Xbox One X you had there didn't, it just shut off. Mine went black screen tonight with no warning and no indication of overheating. The controller disconnected. I can't tell whether I had a heat event or not

It would have been cool if you finished the update and then retried the test, just to see the error message for the Xbox One X. When I was on holiday, I decided to bring my Xbox to the caravan with my family for some weeks. It was fine for the amount of time I went on, about 3-4 hours in the day, though sometimes less.
Until my sister's boyfriend came, and she kept asking me to turn it on at like 1am to watch films. Though after me saying I don't want her to watch a film, I finally gave in. Though after I let her watch one, she snuck on my Xbox at mad times with her bf at like 3 or 4am to watch films with him on Netflix.
I'm wondering if it would damage my xbox one s' fan.

I think there’s something wrong with my Xbox. The vents are not covered or anything but overheats when I try to load games sometimes even Minecraft.

My standard Xbox One does pretty much this. Had to purchase some torx screwdrivers to open the power brick and the console to clean it. Things are hot, and roaches might love to go inside them.

Most likely you need to clean your console from inside, it might be the dust.
Cover the xbox and dont unplug the fan. it gets SO loud! Trust me.

Question for you: yesterday I overheated my Xbox by mistake, forgot I had put the game case on top of the fan, usually do that to prevent dust going inside while not in operation. Question is: Have I damaged the thermal paste because of this punctual overheating episode? Obviously this is something I will not repeat anytime soon, but want to know if the thermal paste might of dried up or something?
I don't care if it breaks, I'm just scared it would throttle down and give me poor graphic performance which I might not even notice....

I did this by accident when I put mine back together but forgot to connect the fan. Honestly it should tell you right when you boot it up that the fan isn’t connected.
So I was playing on my Xbox and after 20minutes playing I noticed that I forgot to take the blanket off the vent and it got very very hot....it didn’t shut off and this has happened to me twice. Luckily nothing happened...by not shutting off it tells me that it even thought it was hot, it wasn’t hot enough to shut it off....

I use to cover My console when turned off so they don't collect any dust. I just got an xbox one x yesterday and i left it turned off and covered, then a few hours later i entered into My room and noticed some weird burnt plastic like smell and it was my xbox. I didn't know it was still working after i turned it off so i inmediatedly turned it back on and the fan was making a weird noise, something like a coil whining but it was still working. After a while the fan stoped sounding like that but i'm worried i have made some damage to my console, could something happened to the mother board?

I purposely over heated my 360 slim, One, And series X, not the reason you think, i do it so the fan goes full speed for at least once, in case it ever breaks, so it does its full capability before it breaks.

Both My original Xbox one and my X overheated because I had them in an entertainment stand with a closed back, but when they crapped out, they shut the game down and took me back to the home screen. So I bought cooling adapter fans.

Stoned Savage! Yeah. My TV is on the top, and it's a plasma TV so it already gets pretty hot by itself. When I'm playing a console, the TV doesn't even get hotter from the air coming out of the consoles. Lol
My stand only has grommet holes for running the cables and Its probably good idea to just take off the back, but then it just looks ugly. The fan for X is holding up very well and I moved the X forward as much as possible for better ventilation and no problem since. I got my PS4 and 360 in the stand as well and those never had any heating issues.

Very interesting results. I never knew that any xbox one had overheat protection. Good to know. Im still trying to figure out what all the flaws are in the XB1X to case them to fail brand new so suddenly. A test that im not seeing anyone do is an actual reading that the XB1X draws. On average and peaks. Once those numbers are established. Im curious if under voltatage causes extra unwanted heat to build up. All the chips seam to be very fragile. Maybe to shock like sudden voltage shifts and to vibration. Im beginning to think that the main problem may be no voltage regulation inside the XB1X power supply and thats why they stressed about using the original power cable and to plug the console directly into the wall and to not use a surge protector.
I have an original xbox one I had it since launch I believe it's started over heating cause it's cutting off randomly it does not give an overheating message it just cuts off after an hour of gameplay then I cut it on and it'll cut right back off till after a bit of cool down time i have to fix it I believe the issue was thermal paste cause even after cleaning it and putting it back together the same result happens

I have a question,it doesn't pertain to this clip. I hear the hard drives for xbox one's break after awhile,it is a pretty time consuming procedure to swap and reprogram,format and flash the new drive to get back up and running. My question is what if before the hard drive breaks buy an external plug in and play style hard drive,transfer all data to that one,remove soon to be faulty stock drive and install the external hard drive that has all the information, can it be done or will the xbox crash? My Xbox one is 3 years old,any advice on this subject would be extremely appreciated.

I thought Microsoft said the x had some sort of liquid cooling that one of their engineers built specifically for it. I remember reading that since they had to wait for the patent on the piece the release was delayed
