I don't agree with most of Bill's politics (I do agree with him on his views about religion) but at least he's willing to actually debate conservatives unlike 99% of Liberals. I respect Bill, he's entitled to his opinion so long as he doesn't go out of his way to slander people which he typically doesn't do. He trashes Trump for sure but he has every right to do that as an American. His audience is surprisingly fair when it comes to conservatives on the show too, unless that's just due to editing.
The both graduated Cornell. So they are fellow "alumni", Ivy League. Bill likes really smart people that argue with him. And Bill likes women, ALOT! So of course, he loves his "frenemy" Ann. She's probably one of the only women on the entire planet that a MGTOW man like Bill would even consider marrying.

@@edwardterry9468 Unfortunately there are people on both sides that are afraid to appear on Real Time. Bill openly admits he was disappointed Obama would never appear on the live show. He did give a taped interview. Some people are afraid of alienating their base by appearing on Real Time. I've always appreciated that Bill at least tries to get multiple points of view on the panel. Very few, if any, other shows even attempt a true debate and discussion of current events.
It's always interesting to see Republicans appear on the liberal shows. It's also refreshing to see people with opposing viewpoints get to have a more or less civil talk.

That’s how the rest of the country needs to be. Individuals who disagree with one another’s ideological structures, but retaining respect for each other’s viewpoints by possessing intellectual humility and still being open to having their opinions shifted.

I worked with a guy from Guatemala. He used to tell ICE he was Mexican. So that he wouldn't have to travel as far to get back. He would brag about how he had walked into the Country 5 times. The 1st 2 trips with Coyotes, the 3rd he memorized the trails and water spots. He'd stay with friends on Texas. Have his Employer and family send him Cash (Western Union). And take a Greyhound back to Knoxville Tennessee.
And he was one of several South American's I've met over the years who've made that trip multiple times.
They work under the table for less an hour than we do. Save money by car pooling, and having lots of roommate's. Then they start a business. Where they can charge less. Because the employees are illegal. And working under the table as well. They save more money, start families (as 1 does). And start working towards citizenship for themselves and the rest of their family. They also bring over relatives to do the same.
I say all this not because I'm racist. But because my trade pays basically the same today. As it did in 1993 when I started working. And illegal immigration is the main reason why. I understand completely why they come here. I've worked with, broke bread with, dated, and been friends with many a South American's. They're great people and hard workers. If I were in their situation, I'd do the same in there situation.
But if we're going to help Blue collar American workers, tradesmen, Landscaper's, factory, and warehouse workers. It's going to have to start with limiting illegal immigration. And fast tracking the ones who are already here. With pathways to citizenship, and yes deportation for criminals, like Cartels, Laraza, and MS13 gangbangers.
As an immigrant from Mexico in Canada I agree with you. When I arrived here working cleaning a super market at $10 per hour I was making more money than working at an entry level job in a bank in Mexico. Of course we work for less and are ready to work more hours in worse conditions than people born in the US or Canada and we depress the salaries no doubt about it.

I really enjoyed watching this, and i think it's good to see two people profoundly disagree with each other yet appear on the same show together and discuss relevant issues. I lean more conservative, with an open mind to bipartisan issues. (I think controlling immigration should be a bipartisan issue. Barbara Jordan was a firm advocate of immigration control, and she was a Democrat.) Great segment!
I was introduced to Anne Coulter in college by my roommate. This roommate was also adamant that you can support a family on the minimum wage yet refused to make less than $8/hr (in 2006) or work in the food industry in a college town. She only had summer work experience in her MOTHER'S OFFICE and still received an allowance. She went to an elite private boarding school for high school and never went to public school. That was the day that I discovered money can't buy you common sense or intelligence.

My mother worked as a waitress for 20 years to help supplement our farming income; my father worked as a janitor at the same elementary school where I went many years later. My parents were not afraid of work, nor did they feel ashamed for taking menial jobs. They had little in the end, but they still managed to feed anyone who came by for a visit. Luckily they didn't see Trump become our president.

Her points are not based on fact. The wall will not stop illegal immigrants because Maher is right. Most of them do fly in and overstay. All she does is shout and bluster in the face of facts.
It's wonderful to see these two highly intelligent americans, on opposite sides of the formal political divide, laughing at each others jokes whilst having an argument, rather than taking offence.
Both Coulter and Maher can take what they dish out, and so their friendship and love of each other can survive an honest and fierce application of reason to facts, in search of truth. Without the goodwill and fellowship, the choice to laugh instead of take offence, the application of reason to facts cannot endure, and the argument turns to war. In war, truth is put to death by all parties. Therefore it follows that we must respect and emulate this conduct, from both Coulter and Maher, or we shall all end up living in the ruins of their world.

Everybody is friends with many from the opposite party. Like they are friends with their parents and all relatives and classmates and fellow Legion of Elks members. Most have no idea what party their friends are from. I finally told a friend who I voted for after knowing him for 15 years----and he was shocked. So politics isn't a barrier to friendships-----and that's good.

I completely disagree with her on Russia and Venezuela. However, I think her focus on immigration makes her see other issues as less important. After reading headlines about unrestrianed numbers of migrants turning up on British shores, I have begun to rethink the idea of a single-issue voter on immigration.

I saw the hashtag "Coultergeist" on Twitter yesterday. Now it's all I can think whenever I see Ann Coulter. It's also absolute gold and whoever thought of it deserves a raise.

One of the biggest issues in stagnant wages is health care costs. Pay is " wages and benefits" not just wages. The majority of folks still get employer provided healthcare,and healthcare costs and out of pockets spiral up, the middle class will continue to get squeezed .

Bill at least tries to stick to facts (yes he has pushed the Russian narrative so he's not 100% innocent). He's one of the only liberals willing to debate conservatives and for that he has my respect. I can't expect 100% of people to align with my views. At least he aligns with some of my views (religion, marijuana laws). I'm willing to listen to his opinion, I don't have to believe it and the fact he brings people on with all different opinions at least means I get to hear a real discussion and not just some liberal echo-chamber.
