Bill Maher is doing a dirty debate trick by introducing subjects in a very unfair light, forcing Steve to defend or explain the actual position he has but whenever Steve starts getting the momentum and unraveling Bills cheap trick, Bill makes a hackish remark to play for the home court before changing the subject. Whether you like Bannon or Maher should be irrelevant if your seeking a fair honest discussion. This is why I hate Real Time, it's a cheap formula designed to make Bill look smarter then he is, and he never has his world view challenged. Whenever someone else has a good honest point to make, he gets to make a cheap shot joke and shift the subject, when they try it, he cries about the double standard. I am always open to both sides of any debate or discussion. The problem I always run into is if you try to explain a point that you are trying to make without being confrontational the other person always makes it confrontational when it doesn’t have to be. This generally speaking happens more with liberals/democrats in my experience. They get all dismissive and smug much like Bill did here. His main economic focus has been a failure, coal mining is half of what it was under obama and the largest coal mining company filed bankruptcy and farmers have lost hundreds of billions, its not that trump caused that but he couldn't fix it because those are legacy economies which are in direct competition with the entire developing world where most of the economy is in blue areas like tech in california. So other than taking credit for the economy he had no part in creating what has he really achieved? And Trump is doing good. The economy is up and jobs are coming back. Trump signed a middle eastern peace plan, he passed USMCA, he renegotiated a better trade deal with China, he’s encouraging companies to come back and invest, and he’s controlling illegal immigration and built parts of the wall. I'm no fan of Steve Bannon, but you could hardly call this a "conversation". It was Bill asking a question and then scoffing, interrupting, and acting smug while Bannon tried to answer. It was good to have him on the show, true, but this format is clearly ill-suited to them having an "open conversation" of any real substance. It'd be good to get them both on something like the Joe Rogan podcast, where time constraints and pantomime audiences are not a concern.

Brannon is a propagandist, so I’m glad bill “didn’t let him talk”. I hope that if Brannon doesn’t get himself executed, that he, at the very least, gets to experience how it feels to have someone sicc a violent mindless mob to try to murder HIM.
Brannon should never be a guest on any talk show, it’s a stupid idea. He doesn’t want to have discussion, it’s all a big laugh to him, isn’t it? I mean, we are all millionaires, aren’t we? Who needs a federal government when you have that much money? Let’s “dismantle the administrative state”…
What a horrible idea. If there’d been an ALTERNATIVE to what we currently have, maybe I’d at the very least listen…but not an idiot like trump. It’s always the incompetent who wants to be dictator-for-life 😂. Trump immediately began running his 2020 campaign as soon as he stepped into the Oval Office. Because he’s incompetent and people have eyes and ears and mouths.

That's Bill's MO. Throw a heavy question that takes more than a yes or no answer and he interrupts the guest about 3 seconds into their answer. So annoying. The guy could be such a better host if he let the guest answer for a minimum 10 seconds before trying to derail them with a joke or another jab.

I think Bannon was dedicated to interupt Bill, beating him to the punch lines, which didnt allow Bill to effectively layout his loaded questions designed to make Bannon look bad. Bill was ill prepared for this and got a bit emotional, while Bannon walks away as the triumphant kid lmao

It looked like Steve was ready for it. He made Bill look like the propagandists that he is. No matter how hard Bill tried to cut off the "heretic" Steve got a lot of his points out. Bill got particularly worked up this time because he doesn't want the truth to get to his audience. Crossfire Hurricane was released to the crowd. Bill made the mistake of calling his audience stupid so you know by now they all know what it is. Steve clearly won this thing.

    • @iheartafrica8794

@@palmatrh Yes Bannon was pretty solid and made some great arguments. Bill's whole shtick is to ask those questions get a laugh and interrupt to keep it going so he can ask more questions and keep that kind of back and forth going which he's actually great at. But when it comes to conducting a serious interview you can see he's not really interested in doing that as his typical method is probably more entertaining to his audience rather than digging for the truth in a serious interview.
