ConkeyCrack yes I'm quite aware of that. I was an umpire for quite a few years in my younger days. I never witnessed anything as comedic as this though.
darklordojeda Between his mask problems, and his extremely low stance, it’s a wonder he didn’t fall over backwards. And I just noticed the baserunner on third is leading, which isn’t usually allowed at this level. As for the coach, he showed good tolerance with the umpire (who should ditch the hat, and just use the mask), but he should train his catcher not to turn his body sideways as the pitch arrives. That’s a natural instinct, and both young umpires and young catchers have to fight that instinct. But the umpire really needs some training. I’m guessing he’s a volunteer. I know this is labeled as a “drunk” umpire, but even a sober umpire would have these balance issues with such a low stance, especially if using a balloon.
You’re supposed to wear your hat forward with those masks you’re wearing a ball cap. Catchers have a bit of a different set up for their headgear. They wear a helmet instead of a baseball cap with that kind of mask.
Crazy Canuck Having umpired, I know how an umpire’s supposed to wear a hat. However, the plate umpire’s hat usually has a shorter bill than most other baseball caps. This umpire’s hat has too wide a bill, and he cannot easily put on his mask. At one point, the mask falls off as the pitch arrives, and he completely missed the call (the main reason the catcher turned around). During another pitch, the umpire’s holding his mask on with his right hand and arm, thus negating the only advantage of the balloon. This is why he signaled a strike with his left arm. Some umpires do use the hockey mask style that the catcher is using here. That is worn without a hat. This umpire would have been better off with that style mask. The only reason I suggested getting rid of his hat, or wearing it backwards was to get him through this game. Afterward would be the time to get the proper equipment. It seems obvious to me that he has never done this before, because he really doesn’t know what he is doing. I don’t see any patch, which indicates to me that he is likely a volunteer, with no training, and likely no equipment of his own.

@@fossmoke9289 Even if you give him the benefit of the doubt and it was a medical condition or some other legitimate problem that cause such strange actions, he is still in no condition to be in that position and other adults should have stepped in to investigate the issue.
brings back great memories. i was 11 or 12 and in the exact same scenario as the catcher in this vid. drunk ump but the difference was the ump in the game that i remember was surly and ejected the the first base coach that started heckling him for being drunk and unable to see balls and strikes. banished my coach to his car so my coach sat in his car with the window down yelling all the same insults. coach was just as likely to have been day drinking.
The umpire is definitely impaired. No question about it. There is nothing in the video to indicate what caused the impairment, however. He may well have been drunk, but I can also think of some medical conditions that exhibit similar symptoms. Whatever the cause, the safety of the umpire, the young players, and everyone else on the field was jeopardized. This game should never have started, if the plate umpire arrived in this condition. Sober, mature, responsible adults (coaches and parents) would have refused to put their players/children on the field with an impaired official. They would also have checked to see if the umpire required medical attention, a ride home to sleep it off, or if law enforcement needed to be called (say, if he was drunk and drove to the diamond). Whatever you may think about the umpire, every other adult that was present also acted irresponsibly.
lol lol I know I was being an idiot when I made that comparison. I get a little ahead of myself sometimes and type before I think. I appreciate your opinion.
There is such a shortage of umpires that a lot of places don't really have a choice who shows up. A lot of new potential umps join, but they only last 1 season, because the parents and some of the coaches are horrible.
This is unfortunate for the shortage of refs. I feel we need the refs to help regulate all of sports. Without the refs players would eventually result to cheating and fights would break out more from having no authority. At some point we may have to declare a state of emergency.
You’re argument means nothing in this case Short handed or not NEVER allow an intoxicated player coach or official on the field I umpired little league and hs for many years a game can always be made up if need be but we never allowed this I umpired in a lil town y’all may have heard of And the same home town as a new yankee I watched many good young men come thru my fields and it’s why this should never be tolerated there’s at least one star in each league give those kids a chance for good experiences at the diamond not this crap Parents and coaches should also be held accountable any of them could have stopped this game but failed
shortage of umpires..not where I live. I was shocked when I heard how much umpires and referees make calling youth league games now. But then again, I wouldn't want to do that job. Too damn emotional parents to have to deal with.
When I clicked on this video, I expected to just see an umpire that made a really bad call or something. I didn’t think he would actually be drunk, but, sure enough, to my surprise, there really is a drunk umpire in this video. He didn’t even have to make any bad calls for me to notice it, either. I’ve seen some umpires that would make you think they were drunk, but I’ve honestly never seen one like this. This guy is so wasted that he makes most drunk umpires look like they are ok to drive. This is amazing, really.
Actually, not only did he NOT have to make any bad calls for you to notice, but he actually DID make a couple of good calls. That's what's so ironic about this video for me. This is cinema gold, right here.
Had an issue like this at one of my sons game. I swore he was blackout drunk but the truth was he was diabetic and his sugar was high or low. He acted just like this ump and i felt bad for him because people were saying some pretty ugly comments until they found out what the problem was.

This guy moves intoxicated yes, but it has this patient sluggishness. Like somone running out of air. Hes not belligerent and stumbling off his feet. He cant track but tries, and he looks weak. Like his grip and coordination is focused on something else not inhibited.
So hammered. Not just a little, the kind of hammered where you’ve finished all your beer and are wobbling through the only open place at 2am buying more.
Just throwing this out there. A few years ago when I was still coaching. We were in a tournament in July. They couldn't find many umpires so this poor guy had called 8 straight games, with 6 of them behind the plate. By the eighth game he was looking like this guy. But he definitely wasn't drunk. He ended up in the hospital with heat exhaustion. So maybe this was the case here too.
What's sad is the adults were watching this knowing full well he was intoxicated and did nothing. You can see the catcher asking for help with his eyes and body language because he didn't know what to do...awful
What are they supposed to do? I mean, I get that the ump shouldn't be out there drunk, but do you penalize the kids and shut the game down? Make a scene and shame the ump in front of a bunch of impressionable kids? Ideally I guess there would be another ump at the park and you could discreetly pull the drunk one out then fire him. Idk
@@bojanglesobrien6883 shame the ump in front of impressionable kids.....yes!!! You say hey kids, this is what happens when your drunk on the job. You lose that job,get arrested and publicly shamed. mulekicker30 Most experts don’t believe you’re born with alcoholism lol. I’m guessing you’re the polar opposite of an expert in anything.
Thomas Mahoney Amen my friend. The comment section of this video is the worst I’ve ever seen with do-gooders telling everyone how good and responsible they are and how they would’ve saved the day. It’s pretty disgusting actually.
Two things...
1. The title of this video would be a great name for a band or an album.
2. Hopefully, the coaches had this clown removed from the league...permanently.
mikefinney423 he might have something wrong with him that causes that
@@fossmoke9289 Even if you give him the benefit of the doubt and it was a medical condition or some other legitimate problem that cause such strange actions, he is still in no condition to be in that position and other adults should have stepped in to investigate the issue.
Good Clean Fun your 100% right
Like there are umps lining up
@THE ACOUSTIC CAGE Yes, specifically, the genre known as cowpunk.
This is one of those videos where you want to know what happened. I cannot imagine the ump lasted much longer.
Maybe @playback speed x4... If he lasted, it was the longest game in little league history. Drunk Ump ain't exactly fast
The real question is why did they still start the game with a drunk ump? Did they not know he was drunk beforehand?
He thinks that is what the 7th inning stretch means.
You’ve never lived in small town America evidently lol. There’s probably a fat guy named bubba selling keystone from his pickup for a dollar a beer.
The catcher keeps looking like "WTF"
brings back great memories. i was 11 or 12 and in the exact same scenario as the catcher in this vid. drunk ump but the difference was the ump in the game that i remember was surly and ejected the the first base coach that started heckling him for being drunk and unable to see balls and strikes. banished my coach to his car so my coach sat in his car with the window down yelling all the same insults. coach was just as likely to have been day drinking.
Bartender, I want what the ump had, but make it a double.
Whatever you may think about the umpire, every other adult that was present also acted irresponsibly.
milwaukeejt I think they are all just idiots for letting this guy ump the game. Talk about flushing your time down the toilet.
milwaukeejt a couple years back I had an autistic umpire he wasn’t this bad so I completely agree
All of y’all need to shut up becuase what if he has disabilities and is still trying his hardest to do what he loves
If I was physically or mentally unable to fly a commercial airliner should I be allowed to pilot a plane just because I would love to do it?
lol lol I know I was being an idiot when I made that comparison. I get a little ahead of myself sometimes and type before I think. I appreciate your opinion.
Lololol jakes expressions were priceless 😂 🦓
Don't Worry, That's Just Tipsy Turvy Tommy ⚾🍺
Roy Hoya 😂😂😂😂
Light weight Tommy
I would love to watch the entire game just to see how the umpire holds up and how good of a job he does in making calls.
His partner pulled him.
*Here's the pitch*
Umpire : Touchdown! 2 shots awarded!
Dude ate too many somas and now has what we call “WalMart legs”..
we call it the soma shuffle. my grandma a pro when we go to Lake Powell 😁
The soma coma
There is such a shortage of umpires that a lot of places don't really have a choice who shows up. A lot of new potential umps join, but they only last 1 season, because the parents and some of the coaches are horrible.
This is unfortunate for the shortage of refs. I feel we need the refs to help regulate all of sports. Without the refs players would eventually result to cheating and fights would break out more from having no authority. At some point we may have to declare a state of emergency.
You’re argument means nothing in this case
Short handed or not NEVER allow an intoxicated player coach or official on the field I umpired little league and hs for many years a game can always be made up if need be but we never allowed this
I umpired in a lil town y’all may have heard of
And the same home town as a new yankee I watched many good young men come thru my fields and it’s why this should never be tolerated there’s at least one star in each league give those kids a chance for good experiences at the diamond not this crap
Parents and coaches should also be held accountable any of them could have stopped this game but failed
@@Diaz-zq7sf
"I feel we need the refs to help regulate all of sports."
A truly groundbreaking opinion.
@@ralphcolborn6589 uh yea it does dipshit if your kids want to play, wow what a tard.
shortage of umpires..not where I live. I was shocked when I heard how much umpires and referees make calling youth league games now. But then again, I wouldn't want to do that job. Too damn emotional parents to have to deal with.
Damn that was great! Lol. I'd watch this entire game. I love how the parents and coaches are just dealing with it.
The fact that he could still count means he's qualified
Hoooooly shhhtttttt hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahaah. Best video of the day!
Dad: "Ben...move back into position."
Drunk Ump: "Good idea...I..III...mmooooovvvee baacckkk."
Imagine being drunk and having to squat up and down non stop for an hour and a half with all that gear on
With most* of that gear on
When I clicked on this video, I expected to just see an umpire that made a really bad call or something.
Hahaha! He couldn't get his mask on, so he just holds it up to his face. Good thinking buddy.
2:06 the batter looks at the ump and says, “I’m out.” After the ump calls a ball.
Good for that kid for having integrity.
“He is safe…..touchdown!”
Had an issue like this at one of my sons game. I swore he was blackout drunk but the truth was he was diabetic and his sugar was high or low. He acted just like this ump and i felt bad for him because people were saying some pretty ugly comments until they found out what the problem was.
I was gonna say, drunk or low blood sugar. One's despicable and one's sad. Both need attention though.
I think this is a drunk Bejing Biden like the man said up above. A diabetic would say something and gtfo. He wouldn't be swaying like hunter past 2pm on a weekday.
This guy moves intoxicated yes, but it has this patient sluggishness. Like somone running out of air. Hes not belligerent and stumbling off his feet. He cant track but tries, and he looks weak. Like his grip and coordination is focused on something else not inhibited.
Somebody's had tee mini martoonies...
the guy in the crowd be like "cmon this is getting silly." That's hilarious
Come on people... this is little league baseball... you should be lucky you have an umpire in the first place.
Yahawah Be Praised they can’t have an umpire that doesn’t do their job right, or else there’s no game.
Finally, an interesting baseball game!
Hows a great comment like this get only 3 likes n a year? Go figure.
So hammered. Not just a little, the kind of hammered where you’ve finished all your beer and are wobbling through the only open place at 2am buying more.
"Jake, how did you get hurl on the BACK of your jersey?"
I waited the whole damn video for that to happen 😂
This video always makes me happy, this ump needs to be called up to the big leagues, has a better strike zone than most of the umps.
Reminds me of Buttermaker the coach from the Bad News Bears.
Catcher (looking back at ump): you’re acting like my dad after a hard night of drinking and arguing with my mom! 🤔
Freudian slip much?
That background guy said this is getting silly lol pull the kids off the field and get a NON DRUNK UMPIRE
He called every pitch correctly. Nice job Blue. Keep up the fine work.
The ump is loaded not the bases
Rumor has it, Joe is going to put him in charge of FBI
Instead what this kid learned was it's ok to turn a blind eye to bad behavior as long as you can still play the "game". He also learned that he can't count on adults to be responsible when needed. You can hear the adults in the background and nobody did anything..,this is our society now.
Finally someone responded to all the comments who felt like I did..only thing is I would never want to meet any of them for accepting this behavior ..I also feel so sorry for that catcher. to have to put up with that he obviously hasn't got parents that care..I so wish one of the fans was an off duty police officer..
So one time I was a ump at a little league game. Just haaaammered drunk
Omg this is funny
I read this in Cal Naughton Jrs voice from Talladega Nights.......lmfao
I love how the dad is like oh god hey son focus on the batter lol
All you saints out there, casting the first stone.
I’ve been officiating youth and scholastic sports for 8 years now and I’ve never shown up drunk, so….
@@zgaviation6481 ok , stoned then
What a dumb comment lmfao
Yeah he's high on opiates, not drunk.
(If I had to guess)
Joe Momma I love when people say stuff like this like they know for sure exactly what he’s on lol
@@cameronjones305 yeah I really don't know haha. So used to seeing people high now days it just seems like it every time. I'm not talking good, 420 high either, obviously.
Joe Momma you’re a genius
He's leaning onto the catcher! I'm losing my shit hahahaha
Coaches and parents present need to be held accountable. Who allows this to happen?
Had to be fake. No way does any responsible parent allow this.
He was having a medical issue. He wasn’t drunk
Did anyone see the kid drawing in the dirt at 0:14
I think he's trying to make a line to represent the edge of the plate or he was fixing the imaginary on deck circle... either one is common in little league baseball where most the time there aren't designated on deck circles... but that's still funny you caught that tho lol I watched it 3x and still didn't notice till yer comment
Catcher: “You smell like my daddy when he comes home late at night”
Not a single adult male there with the balls to stop this? Embarrassing for whatever town this is.
Michael Emerson soon after the video ended the coaches ended the game
The first three Innings he was fine... Then it happened all the sudden the alcohol kicked in and we stopped at Mid ending so stop with all the comments about us parents that were there should be ashamed enjoy the fact that you get to see a funny video..."STRIKE TEW""...
Such a shame an adult female can't stand up to such impossible odds........you're a total ass clown
This is not funny. That is the whole point. It took way too long to react.
You are either a pissed off flaming feminist or one of the cowards mentioned above... neither demographic deserves a say in anything.
I say he’s ready for the big league and should replace Angel Hernandez. 😂
Yep that would be absolutely perfect. I would just love to see it for real at a MLB game.
That's not alcohol , it's Xanax .
And you know that how?
My first thought
And I know exactly what Xanax will do to you, trust me.
@@scrap7604 Sweet anecdotal evidence my dude. I have also drunk my fill, and I know exactly what alcohol will do to you, trust me.
He called the game better drunk haha
EVL-EVO 2 lmao better than most mlb umps that are sober
When he leaned on him I fucking lost it 🤣🤣
Them two for ones at chili’s will get you every time
Only a stand full of millenials would not check on a young man that is obviously in some kind of altered state.
This would have lasted about 5 seconds in the 60s or 70s.
That’s fucking great ! I’m 52 , and when I played we had a guy Named Art Hall that was a ledge down umpire and a wicked athlete in the 30s and 40s He would call a ball when it was down the middle and a strike when it was no where near a strike. It was hilarious. We just accepted it back in the day. Somehow it always equaled out. No one ever even mentioned anything till years later. Ledge down. Dudes hammered!
OMG, I thought it said Jake and the dump truck!! I was wondering who the dump truck was. Where are my glasses? Lol
Jen Jen Jen I think you may be dyslexic Jen.
TheDubiousBaker420 - lol no, I really didn’t have my reading glasses but hey thanks for lame comment.
Some adult should have stepped in and gotten the ump off the field. Weather drunk or having s medical problem. This is bothersome.
"Weather drunk" I also succumb to lightning storms
goalie2998 that’s Society nowadays !!😳
OBAViJEST i see what you did there. Im not gonna even edit, that's how little i care.
